Whether she did or did not, I still can't shake the notion that if that crime hadn't happened, the kids would be alive today.
IMO they would also still be alive had Chandler PD just investigated that crime properly.

So... you're taking this as a sign that she was technically savvy? How so?

I only take it as a sign that maybe she watched The Wire. Or Better Call Saul. And that they were Android-based TracFones, requiring separate email addresses to activate (not hard and the store she bought them in could help her with that).

No I don't think she was exactly bright with technology, perhaps I used a poor choice in wording. I just believe she was sneaky and calculating and used certain technologies to her advantage. Jmo

I would imagine their attorneys are able to show them video of any televised court case pertaining to them (where their name is mentioned). And possibly even transcripts of untelevised cases.

Now that I’ve said that, Maybe I’m wrong. Witnesses in a trial are often not allowed in the courtroom until after their testimony is over. I wonder if some similar rule would be at play here so one co-conspirator can’t parrot what another has said.

This Case (and all the related cases that comprise “This Case” ) makes me appreciate just how much a lawyer will need to know to adequately defend or prosecute LVD and Chad. Apart from the crimes themselves they are dealing w/the complexities of 1. conspiracy charges (multiple defendants including one who’s dead). 2. Multiple jurisdictions. 3. Conflict of interest issues and 4. Freedom of religion parameters to name a few. All this in a very small town where everyone knows each other. With world-wide press coverage. During an unprecedented historic pandemic.

It’s hard to imagine either defense attorney has the paralegal resources that will be needed to research the many issues likely to come up. These attorneys have their client’s lives in their hands and if they are in it “for the right reasons” they probably wake up at night in a cold sweat. On the other hand, if like their clients they’re narcissistic publicity hounds more likely they’re sleeping like babies while visions of speaking tours and book deals dance in their heads.

@gitana1 , @vislaw and any other attorneys — will Chad and Lori be allowed to see video and read transcripts of each other’s court proceedings? And what do you think will be the most challenging aspects of these cases for the attorneys involved? If you were criminal trial attorneys would you want this case or would you run?

I don’t know about televised but they should be able to read each other’s transcripts. And have access to any and all evidence.

To be fair, getting caught holding 60 phones and 30 email addresses would fall into that "not technically savvy" as least to me...even if I toss in being sloppy to the mix.

Good point!!! I responded to another commenter that perhaps my choice in wording was poor. My comment was based on hearing that she was known not to utilize technology, but we see she did use it, rather unintelligently, but she used it. Does that make sense?

RSBM for comic value

The affidavits were placed in their folders with care
In hopes that St. Nicholas (and not Jose Baez) soon would be there

I am sure y'all have some fun at the holidays. I can't wait!
I love it! Thanks for the chuckle.

I wonder if a syringe or 2 of air would cause blood clots in the lungs? I know it would cause air bubbles that could potentially be harmful to the heart but I am not sure about clots. Anyone know?? TIA. Off to research. HAGN.

Detective Ball was talked about on Court TV tonight , so I looked it up.
Just unbelievable horror for all who helped & ultimately found them. MOO

Lori Daybell lied and conspired to conceal the deaths of her children, documents allege | East Idaho News
Ball wrote that JJ’s remains were found wrapped in plastic, and he recognized the child when his body was uncovered.
“The body was well preserved. While I had never met JJ during his life, I was familiar with his face due to seeing many pictures and videos of him,” Ball said. “I was further familiar with his haircut in the pictures I had seen of him in Yellowstone. … JJ was further identified by Brandon Boudreaux (the ex-husband of Lori’s niece, Melani Pawlowski), who was shown an autopsy photograph of the body and face.”

How sad. Bless those detectives and BB for all they have done to help in this horrific crime. I wonder why BB was the one to identify JJ though?

Hmm. I stand (tentatively) corrected. I say tentatively because I'm not sure if the police would "report" closing the case.

The article you're referring to came out the same day the autopsy results were released, and the wording in the story was "Police in Gilbert, Arizona, say detectives investigating Cox's death will review the autopsy report and that the case is still active."

So, we'll see. I wonder if somebody could find out whether the case is still considered open or not (from GPD).
As far as I understand the Gilbert case is the attempted murder of BB. As such there are other potential POI's involved in the case besides AC, and so even though his death is a speed bump for LE the case is still active due to the other POI's potential involvement. JMO.

Nite Sleuthers. My mama passed away on the 4th of July. So this is a tough weekend. I can’t help but think of this song when I was a teenager full of angst. And she would sing it to me behind my locked bedroom door. I’m thinking of Tylee right now. Who never got to experience teenage angst. Her door was locked for a reason.
I am grieving for Tylee. Of course. JJ too. But my heart tonight is grieving that teenage baby.
Please delete if not ok. Full of emotion. This is a challenging first case. If no one told you today...just saying it. I love you.

Your mom sounds wonderful and wise woman. Lots of parents of teens need to know to fight for and love their their kids even when they shut the door and act like they don't want it. Thanks for sharing that with us. I pray peace and comfort foe you this special week.

Thank goodness.
In new charges filed on Tuesday evening, prosecutors say Chad Daybell conspired with wife Lori Vallow Daybell to keep hiding the bodies of seven-year-old Joshua "JJ" Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan because they knew the remains would likely be used as evidence in a court case.

My kids had a real adjustment when we moved from the city to a rural area. Suddenly they had to address teachers as sir or ma’am.

WTH? My students called me Ms. Mickey. Or just Mickey. Loved rural teaching, brought my dog to work with me every day.

I wonder how he talked Z into marrying him. IMO, his death was definitely pre-planned, but was it by himself, or who?

I don’t see how his des
I usually lurk, because between my job and kids, I can NEVER stay current on a websleuths thread. but I finally caught up to this one, so I thought I’d post something.

I don’t think Chad and Lori buy into the beliefs they’ve been spewing.

Chad. I think Chad sounds like he’s always been an ineffectual opportunist who wants to consolidate power. Basically, he’s the kind of guy who likes telling people what to do, and he was sick of standing on the sidelines.

I keep thinking of what he wrote in, I believe it was, redvine’s yearbook? And also how he would tell Tammy that he had visions that dead relatives said she should stop playing video games or go visit her parents. With Tammy, it seems like he was testing his ability to manipulate others into doing what he wanted.

And eventually, he discovered that twisting LDS beliefs so far that he turned himself into a god and his enemies into zombies earned him a handful of followers whom he could control.

But, while he might the kind of guy who wants to be a take-charge god, that doesn’t make him smart. He seems to have enough social and emotional intelligence to woo vulnerable people coming from a similar background—but he clearly and SEVERELY overestimated his ability to pull off a bunch of crimes. Some will say that he overestimated his abilities because he’d bought into his self-made religious beliefs, but I say that he overestimated himself because Chad thinks he’s awesome, and because Chad is not smart.

Lori. It’s possible that Lori was buying some of what Chad was selling, but I don’t think so. She seems like she’s the type of person who also likes to be in control She takes what she wants—money, her kids, another woman’s husband—they’re all objects to her. When she wanted Tylee, she took her from Charles. Later, she wanted Chad and money, so she had Alex get rid of Charles. Then, when she still wanted Chad and money, the kids had to go; how was she supposed to live her best life with Chad with those two kids always dragging her down? And until his death, it certainly seems like she controlled Alex.

This is where it becomes awfully convenient that kids weren’t invited to join the 144,000. Lori’s and Chad didn’t want to deal with her kids, so there you go. And Tammy was also an obstacle to their relationship, so they got rid of her.

I really think it’s that simple. I don’t think Chad was duping Lori, nor do I think Lori was duping Chad. I think that they were like-minded individuals who fell hard for each other, and Chad’s tool to make himself powerful became a tool for both of them.

(I apologize for the callous tone above, but it’s to illustrate their mindset, not my own.)

I’ll resume lurking now.

Hi! Thanks for sharing.. I was a fellow lurker, and finally got up on my soapbox because of this case.. and have been up there ever since!

I agree with almost everything you said. It seems like Chad has used this spiel before to get into other ladie's temple undies.

However, I think Lori does belive this ish. One can be evil AND naive at the same time. IMO, she was always looking towards men and religion ( not God) to take care of her. Chad fulfilled both, plus he was a leader and had his little pack of followers. Being his lady, i’m sure, gave her a feeling of power and celebrity status in their little f’ed up world. With Covid-19 and the protests ( remember C and L emailed about setting up “white camps”) She is probably sitting in jail thinking it’s all coming true, waiting for July 22nd.....

CD sought mentally fragile women, and found one that also had a crazy brother that subscribed to chad’s bs and had no problem taking lives. They fit into his plan perfectly- AC gets rid of TD and he gets to bed LV whenever he wants...

He is just so gross and evil!

There are so many posts, I can’t keep up!

What is the general opinion on here regarding the gunshot? Was it a red-herring, so CD could say he had to bury a raccoon he shot? Or did somebody (Alex) shoot Tylee to kill her? The timing just seems so odd to me. Alex was at Lori’s house awfully early in the morning...did he kill her then? Or was she being drugged at that time so he could put her in a grave and shoot her?

A few boards back, somebody posted that Risperidone , which we all know JJ was prescribed, doesn’t make one sleepy, but it certainly can at high doses. However, I’m sure there were other medications, OTC or prescribed to somebody else that they could have used.

What do you think?

Personally, I think Tylee was drugged and shot on the property by alex. Then the professional SEXton took over...

While I agree with most of this but where do you see the case is a closed matter? The last I saw was that it was still active and I will absolutely support the ME, but I believe it's been shown that the tox screen was very basic and limited.

ETA- I'll have to go back but I thought there was something in regards to keeping samples for future screenings. Can someone confirm or correct me?

I didn't say it was closed but I do suspect LE considers this a closed matter. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was closed. Look, I've had a drink or two while enjoying my brand new hot tub, so forgive the playful tone (and any spelling issues).

The hope and idealism of this forum is addictive! I can attest to this, because I'm addicted! However... If wishes were fishes, I'd have an aquarium for a house. I keep hearing folks saying words that imply that the ME did the "My Little Pony" of tox screens. As if he had a tee time he needed to make, so he just sort of phoned it in. Toxic McLite. A Teeny Weeny Toxic Screeny. The Fisher Price EZ Bake Forensic Oven.

...implying to me (in my motif, just roll with it for a minute) that if we just wait a little longer, say past the half-hour mark in the show, CSI Hodges is going to stumble awkwardly into the shot and inform us that through his nerdy dark web(sleuths) connections he's discovered a secret GRU poison that perfectly mimics chronic atherosclerosis and a bilateral PTE within 7 days. And then the team does a "real" tox screen that, duh, includes the substance SOVY-ET19, discovering that of course they had missed it, because duh, it was engineered to be utterly traceless and perfect in its mimicry! The iTox app on the ME's watch only detects undercooked sushi and irony-related deaths, not this! Doc Robbins and David look at each other gravely and utter in unison "******* Websleuths!" as they don their gear for a second autopsy, confirming the theory moments later.

...leading our team of intrepid CSIs and forensic pathologists to discover that our suspect was actually an arch-criminal who had worked out a delivery mechanism that they could administer from 3000 miles away; perfectly timed to croak our victim(our arch-criminal's henchman) at an appointed time the day after new/old evidence was "unearthed" (pun intended), because, alas our master criminal had in fact predicted this eventuality would arise, weeks before the fact, and implanted it under his skin using advanced GRU methods and technology so that he could self-administer it! (she hasn't figured out gmail or burner phones, exactly, but cut her some slack, this GRU-trained arch-criminal is an assassin and criminal genius, and NOT a techie! It all makes sense now)

...this changes everything! Doc Robbins wads up his original autopsy report and scores a 3-pointer in the trash bin across the lab. Another charge is added to our arch-criminal's charge sheet, in addition to the more outrageous crimes we already have her on. Our case is solved! Hodges briefly makes out with a Resusci-Annie. Everybody high-fives and goes to the bar! Warrick is bartending (wait, what?)! ROLL WHO MUSIC!!!! <guitar riff>

<to be continued>

They were in a hurry for the same reason CD and LVD and MBP and IP were in a hurry.
They were married couples so they could "gather" the 144, 000 followers.
All 3 marriages were rush, rush-In time for the ZP induced earthquakes and they could all magically disappear. JMO
I think he took her last name to keep him out of the spotlight or the search venues, as people might be looking for AxCox but his ID shows him as AxP, so if stopped and questioned, his ID does not match with who they would be looking for. IMO

I simply do not believe that Melaniece met IP 10 days before marrying him. The timing of every bit of that in the timeline is suspicious to me for hopefully obvious reasons. I shall say nothing further until the matter is judged in-bounds for sleuthing... somewhere.

  • #636
YES... I just got caught up and was able to watch the hearing from yesterday and was shocked when MM said "NO" to the judge about representing anyone else.
He is in wwaaaaaayyyyy over his head, IMO but I sort of hope LVD keeps him just for that reason.. he doesn't know what the heck he is doing. LOL
The problem with LVD keeping a bad lawyer is that when she is convicted she can appeal on the grounds of ineffective counsel. And I don't want her to get another bite of the apple! As weird as it sounds, I want her to have a decent lawyer who can provide a good defense.

I agree, it doesn't make sense. There is an obsession with being married with this crew. I don't get that either.

Right, there's no way this group just decided to up and move to Rexburg, Idaho on a lark, abandoning kids, family etc. , and/or just met on a whim and decided to marry. This was mission. These were the core members.

I agree very much about the two words I've highlighted being very suspicious. In all 3 cases.

Originally I didn't see it, but geez! After reading all the reports and watching bodycam video, I am not sure how any detective looking for incidents involving Charles Vallow in the last year before his death wouldn't have found something that made him say "Oh. Wow. This is a little weird. She said she'd murder him and now he's dead. Let me dig into this a little further".

Be careful what you wish for! Jose Baez plus the 5th Amendment's Double Jeopardy clause makes the other side of that sword pretty dangerous!
