I wonder if there is anyone in the world who could bring her that clothes for the hearing except for MM
And if it was MM, the process should have been amusing. Was he shopping for her by size and color, bringing her options to choose from? :D
Or it could have been a female staff member from his office. I remember watching the defense attorneys in the Jodi Arias trial bringing in dry cleaned clothes for her. Judging from what she wore, she had no say in what clothes they brought for her.

I think LE is charging just enough to keep the heat on as they await lab results from the evidence/victims.
Agree. I think they will keep going until they get to Conspiracy to Commit Homicide twice.

I wonder if a syringe or 2 of air would cause blood clots in the lungs? I know it would cause air bubbles that could potentially be harmful to the heart but I am not sure about clots. Anyone know?? TIA. Off to research. HAGN.

I am not a medical professional but I have read up on this extensively since AxC's autopsy report was released, and I feel pretty safe in saying that a syringe or 2 of air would cause a gas embolism (or 2 :)), which could indeed be potentially fatal on its own, IF whoever was injecting knew what they were doing, but it would not on its own cause a blood clot. It would also have been noted by the ME during their exam.

Whether it’s a right or not, she appeared in prison garb in her other hearings. No potential jury will care what her attire is/ was when they get down to the charges. That is a ridiculous defense argument. IMO.
It's not a defense argument. It is her right. Under the law she is innocent until proven guilty. She will appear in street clothes from now on until she is convicted. During the trial she will wear street clothes. Once she is convicted, she will wear jail clothes.

With any luck, for the rest of her life.

I have had to skip a bit to get caught up, so forgive me if this has been mentioned.
Melanie said two very contradictory things about Alex. Not direct quotes but 1. She asked if he believed in the zombie theory and he said 100% 2. Alex told Melanie she didn’t want to know what happened to the children. If you believed 100% in the theory wouldn’t one “rejoice” when killing them and have no qualms about reliving the details of “freeing them.”
Sidenote: After all this time I still cannot believe this is real life and real people. And I am even pondering someone’s what ifs about zombies! It is still all so unbelievable.
I think she asked these questions at different times. It is one thing to admit that you theoretically believe the Zombie theory, but after actually killing a child that you knew since he was a baby and wrapping him in garbage bags and duct tape and burying him, some of the Zombie killing joy is most likely diminished.

As far as I understand the Gilbert case is the attempted murder of BB. As such there are other potential POI's involved in the case besides AC, and so even though his death is a speed bump for LE the case is still active due to the other POI's potential involvement. JMO.

Nope. The case we are talking about here is the investigation into the death of Alex Cox, which is also a GPD case. As you maybe saw in the linked article, of May the 8th, GPD were reviewing the autopsy report but said the case was still active.

There are so many posts, I can’t keep up!

What is the general opinion on here regarding the gunshot? Was it a red-herring, so CD could say he had to bury a raccoon he shot? Or did somebody (Alex) shoot Tylee to kill her? The timing just seems so odd to me. Alex was at Lori’s house awfully early in the morning...did he kill her then? Or was she being drugged at that time so he could put her in a grave and shoot her?

A few boards back, somebody posted that Risperidone , which we all know JJ was prescribed, doesn’t make one sleepy, but it certainly can at high doses. However, I’m sure there were other medications, OTC or prescribed to somebody else that they could have used.

What do you think?

Personally, I think Tylee was drugged and shot on the property by alex. Then the professional SEXton took over...

On the gunshot, I think the opinions are split, with the vast majority thinking it was complete bs and just part of the story to explain a new grave/disturbed ground. The minority opinion, consisting of (possibly) only me, is that it was that PLUS that he or AC had actually fired a shot for some reason, possibly to kill a heavily drugged Tylee.

On the Risperidone vs. OTC vs. other Rxes, I think we're all over the place. My opinion after thinking through all these possibilities is that they picked the easiest most predictable and accessible (if indeed they drugged them), so probably Benadryl or some adult's sleeping pills or diazepam/etc. At least one person suggested chloroform. A number of folks still suspect Risperidone. I'm not sure what the consensus or majority view is.

Well fuzzybutter I’m fully aware she is innocent until proven guilty but thanks for the reminder. I’m also aware she will wear jail garb when in jail. Inmates are required to do that. I’ve witnessed other trials, note I said TRIALS, where defense attorneys made a request of the judge that defendant be allowed to wear street clothes. If it is their right, I really don’t care what she wears.

At the time I thought they wanted to see what Tammy's autopsy was going to reveal like a possible unknown poison.

This is the investigation into Alex Cox's death. I haven't heard or seen anything from a credible source that they're waiting for anything of that nature. To the contrary, other medical examiners who have looked at the result seem to support that PTE is the most medically probable cause of death based on the autopsy findings and tox screen. As I joked in an earlier parody post tonight, I think many of us want to wish this into a neat CSI episode where we suddenly discover the perfect poisoning crime, call Maricopa County ME Lesley Wallis's report all wrong, and roll credits, but the probability of that seems super low.

Still patiently awaiting further charges out of both Arizona and Idaho.

Not only the attempted murder of BB.
I would as well be expecting the conspiracy charges for the murder of CV.
I hope they have been able to prove the cause of TD death as well.

There have been a number of "retirements" from the LE agencies involved with these investigations.

This story is far from over.

As per the following, this is still an open investigation:

"“On 05/08/2020, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office released the autopsy results for Alexander Cox which ruled the manner of death to be ‘natural,'” spokesperson Brenda Carrasco told Law&Crime in an email. “The next step for the Gilbert Police Department detectives assigned to the case will be to review the autopsy report in its entirety. This case is still active at this time.”

Death of Lori Vallow Daybell’s Brother Was ‘Natural,’ Says Arizona Medical Examiner

The problem with LVD keeping a bad lawyer is that when she is convicted she can appeal on the grounds of ineffective counsel. And I don't want her to get another bite of the apple! As weird as it sounds, I want her to have a decent lawyer who can provide a good defense.

Agree.

There is the potential for appeal on the grounds of ineffective counsel and we will see MM removed as well as CD's attorney.

I believe we give the topic of the phones too little attention. The important thing about the Dateline tweet is not just its content but the fact that the producer felt he could make it without jeopardizing his relationship with LE. This makes it look like an "approved" leak.

I believe the phones are evidence that there was a larger group with which Chad and/or Lori communicated. I believe that her quick trips to Hawaii were not to sit in the sun, but rather to meet with person or persons unknown. I believe that the January trip was right after a failed attempt to murder Charles. I believe that the alleged October trip with Melani (assuming BB had it right) had a similar motive because it came after the failed attempt on BB's life. I believe it possible that the box or boxes that went ahead of them in the late November trip may have contained phones. There is evidence Lori used three phones. There is no evidence I have found that Alex carried a burner phone. So we have Lori's public phone, a burner to talk to Chad (who, comically, probably really didn't know Lori's public number on November 26th and had to call her on the burner phone to get it so he could give it to LE), and a third to talk to ... somebody.

I believe we will find that CV was paying for all the phones of the extended Cox family.

I have a question about the comments on Risperdone. Some say that it may have been given to JJ to make him sleepy. Others say it would not have that effect. My daughter and her sons have ADHD and Risperdone is one of the meds that are Rxed to them to help them focus and calm their minds. It is a stimulant but has the opposite effect on them. They drink coffee as a sedative or to be able to focus. Maybe it did have this same effect on JJ. Has anyone else heard of stimulants having the opposite effect on individuals who take them?

Oregon has resumed jury trials. The face mask thing is a challenge. I agree that it is important to see facial expressions from the defendant and also the witnesses testifying... but where do you draw the line when there is a pandemic?

Here is an article that explains some of what is happening in Oregon...

Jurors, Please Remove Your Masks: Courtrooms Confront the Pandemic

I truly hope that by the time The Daybells have their appearances in front of a jury, the court will approve the plastic face shields that we can see through.

Originally I didn't see it, but geez! After reading all the reports and watching bodycam video, I am not sure how any detective looking for incidents involving Charles Vallow in the last year before his death wouldn't have found something that made him say "Oh. Wow. This is a little weird. She said she'd murder him and now he's dead. Let me dig into this a little further".
Right. Instead they said let’s not bother with splatter pictures/analysis, blood samples or gunpowder residue tests. Why don’t you drive this pretty lady and her family to the station for quick routine questioning while I finish mopping up all this blood.....

This is the first I’ve heard of LE retirements. Can you share which LE agencies and whether their retirements happened in the last few months? I’m particularly hoping for fresh eyes in AZ.

Yep. CD is gonna be a villain, and AC. LVD is gonna play Casey Anthony/Hedda Nussbaum/Jodi Arias. LVD is a victim!

Right.

And whoever mentioned that Tylee was always "sick". OMG! I can totally see LVD as a Munchausen by Proxie in a heartbeat!

This^^ When I read the statement from the friend that Tylee was often "sick" and/or resting in her room to recover from procedures to find out what her mysterious ailments were, my first thought was Munchhausen by Proxy.
I wonder if we will discover that Lori was very good at acting the part of whatever role she needed to play at the time and that she needed to be the center of attention. Thus her participation in the Mrs Texas beauty pageant and also her appearance on Wheel of Fortune. On her HS cheerleading team she was the "flyer". The flyer is the one who is tossed in the air or falls and is caught. The center of attention again.

I usually lurk, because between my job and kids, I can NEVER stay current on a websleuths thread. but I finally caught up to this one, so I thought I’d post something.

I don’t think Chad and Lori buy into the beliefs they’ve been spewing.

Chad. I think Chad sounds like he’s always been an ineffectual opportunist who wants to consolidate power. Basically, he’s the kind of guy who likes telling people what to do, and he was sick of standing on the sidelines.

I keep thinking of what he wrote in, I believe it was, redvine’s yearbook? And also how he would tell Tammy that he had visions that dead relatives said she should stop playing video games or go visit her parents. With Tammy, it seems like he was testing his ability to manipulate others into doing what he wanted.

And eventually, he discovered that twisting LDS beliefs so far that he turned himself into a god and his enemies into zombies earned him a handful of followers whom he could control.

But, while he might the kind of guy who wants to be a take-charge god, that doesn’t make him smart. He seems to have enough social and emotional intelligence to woo vulnerable people coming from a similar background—but he clearly and SEVERELY overestimated his ability to pull off a bunch of crimes. Some will say that he overestimated his abilities because he’d bought into his self-made religious beliefs, but I say that he overestimated himself because Chad thinks he’s awesome, and because Chad is not smart.

Lori. It’s possible that Lori was buying some of what Chad was selling, but I don’t think so. She seems like she’s the type of person who also likes to be in control She takes what she wants—money, her kids, another woman’s husband—they’re all objects to her. When she wanted Tylee, she took her from Charles. Later, she wanted Chad and money, so she had Alex get rid of Charles. Then, when she still wanted Chad and money, the kids had to go; how was she supposed to live her best life with Chad with those two kids always dragging her down? And until his death, it certainly seems like she controlled Alex.

This is where it becomes awfully convenient that kids weren’t invited to join the 144,000. Lori’s and Chad didn’t want to deal with her kids, so there you go. And Tammy was also an obstacle to their relationship, so they got rid of her.

I really think it’s that simple. I don’t think Chad was duping Lori, nor do I think Lori was duping Chad. I think that they were like-minded individuals who fell hard for each other, and Chad’s tool to make himself powerful became a tool for both of them.

(I apologize for the callous tone above, but it’s to illustrate their mindset, not my own.)

I’ll resume lurking now.

Mickey2942 Thanks for your comment. You are very insightful and I hope you will post again. I just keep thinking of Chad's predictions of Tammy's death going back three years before she died and his Lounge Lizard act of telling women they were married to him in previous lives. He is definitely arrogant. Lori was possibly mentally unstable years before she met him. Going by Annie Cushings Twitter account and others. It was as Melanie G would put it...fire and gasoline.
