Double post. Geez.

I'm not sure this is the post I want to enter this thought about so apologies to Gardener, but here goes:

I think we are giving too much credence to the groups that shall not be named for posting that they have spoken to CD and are vindicated, or that they know CD and LV or sealed, or that they know which penny stocks to invest in, or whatever else they are shoveling on their websites.

If they don't post something self serving they lose income everyday this goes on because the subscription fees are drying up. If they post "VINDICATED" with nothing to back it up some portion of their audience pays another month of fees to see what that means. If they post LV and CD are sealed some stick around and pay the subscription fee to see how that was possible. Self serving.

I don't see that groups that can't be named are more truthful or moral or trustworthy than CD and I see no reason to believe what they post about their alleged discussions with CD, edited and translated (no pun intended) from multiple texts, emails, phone calls boiled down to a few sentences full of subterfuge on the website actually have anything to do with CD. They are protecting their income stream by publishing whatever they think keeps subscriptions up.

MOO

Not to come across as jaded, informed otherwise, or whatever...you think?? Sorry, my comment is not intended to discount your comment. The simple answer, follow the money...even with that comment I hesitate but I am encouraged because LE and FBI have been tracking this longer than here. The only area I am concerned about is forensic tracking. We have search warrants for at least two jurisdictions, probably more depending on how the jurisdictions are divided. The tracking of geo-locations for individual devices should play a part. You know, until trial, the public will probably have to wait on evidence. MOO

As I was reading this, it dawned on me we've seen something similar to this in the 70's.

If you have Netflix watch "Abducted in Plain Sight" which is a bizarre case in and of itself. What you are talking about is very evident is this documentary. I do feel that cult-like behavior is at the root of what is going on. MOO

And that happened in Pocatello, ID, only a little over an hour south of Rexburg.

I don't think he is going to be getting much of a welcome in Rexburg, in fact, it may not be a super safe place for him to return. Do you think his parents would be crazy enough to have him in their home in Springville? I can't imagine that would sit well with Tammy's family as they live fairly close to Chad's. (same little town) MOO

Someone has to visit Lori at the jail. I don't think she'll be amused if he heads for Mexico without her.

Thanks! I have been doing what security people do best and found an interesting book seller for Chad.

I wasn't sure if I could share it here, though the records are publicly available through government agencies. I've been screen shotting records just in case they happen to disappear.

Don't leave us hanging like this. :)

So for those who have wondered about the first two husbands we now have a name for one of them.

We've had his name and their divorce dates from court records for a while. He was also mentioned in at least one MSM timeline before this. We just can't sleuth him, other than records that Lori is in...

They were married 22 Oct 1995 in Harris County, Texas.
Lori filed for divorce 17 Dec 1996 in Bexar County, Texas.
The divorce was final 25 Feb 1998.

CR was born during this marriage. I believe he is likely CR's bio father but was never in CR's life. MOO.

Since this was just a post to M.Moore's Twitter I wasn't sure if it was "real". I asked a couple of questions about CP earlier... About him being a OA scout leader - as I saw a Rexburg* Standard Journal news report from 2016.

*Corrected Rexburg !!
I don't know if it's real or not, but it seems to follow the same general theme as the one where the owner of AVOW claimed to have been vindicated.

Yep, it sounds like the same.

I finally put this together when I read your post a couple times and it scared me. Allegedly these "cult" or "fringe" people, they are saying if you do not believe what they are saying it might be because you "aren't ready." Apologies that I don't have the source but I know I have read this exact quote with regard to CD and/or AVOW which is why it bothers me.

The insinuation is you, the nonbeliever, are the person that is lacking, not smart enough, not evolved enough, not good enough.

Flashback to the 1980s when I was early teens, my parents were so heavily into what might have been the only MLM scheme at the time (rhymes with "am weigh"), that they would practice sales pitches on me and my brother and ask us for our thoughts. In my house in the 1980s we discussed the phrase "you aren't ready" for months.

The phrase "you aren't ready" is pure pyramid...sorry, I mean MLM, marketing for decades.
The phrase is "you are not awake". Awake is the term you're looking for.

@LDS social scientist, thank you so for these well-written, very informative posts. (I hope I linked back to your thread posts properly!) I've been thinking about a book I read on this subject and I thought I'd post about it now and add a bit to your discussion.

I read the book "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer a long time ago. It is very much a book about how personal revelations/receiving directives from God/"promptings" can become dangerous - and how this concept does have a unique presence in the LDS faith and the history of Mormonism. I would like to point out the obvious here: millions and millions of Mormons, in the experience of their faith, do not come to ends like Lori and Chad, or the Lafferty brothers - these are rare cases where their basic beliefs became very, very extreme. (Similarly, millions of Muslims practice Islam peacefully and don't become extremists, and millions of Christians don't become cult leaders.) I find it quite interesting though - how aspects of religious belief and faith may be twisted into something ungodly and dark - in these rare cases. The story of many dangerous cults are the story of how tenets of faith are distorted, and used to manipulate and harm others.

Under the Banner of Heaven is one of the best books I've ever read - and not just because it happens to combine interests of mine in religion and true crime. Krakauer, a really brilliant author, expounds on the history of Joseph Smith and the expansion of the LDS church while weaving in the story of a brutal and horrific murder "committed in the name of God by brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who subscribed to a fundamentalist version of Mormonism". (via wiki, link posted below)

I realize, as has been discussed here, that Chad and Lori are certainly not FLDS. Still, there are some deep similarities between their beliefs/actions and those of the Lafferty brothers. Both are stories about reprehensible motives carried out by people who believed they were sanctioned by God.

So if anyone is interested in reading a true crime story in which the perpetrators claimed the murders were a result of "divine revelation", you should read all about Ron and Dan Lafferty. I'll drop off some links, and then I have to go. (I am taking classes online and am quite busy - not sure if I'll have time to post much in the future.)

p.s. thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts and knowledge - especially the verified insiders, I'm so sorry for what you must be going through. And a special thank you, too, to @Gardener1850 for working so hard on that amazing timeline.

Sounds like it’s for sale. The landlords possibly being put off by nightmare tenants MOO
I'd be interested in knowing if they are asking above market price, trying to cash in on the psuedo celerity element. Theres a lot of strange people who are into owning things that a villian once had.

This is the part that concerns me. What’s going to happen when the world doesn’t end in July? When the second coming doesn’t begin? I get preparedness. I’ve got a larder/pantry and it is well stocked and comes in really handy. But CD/LV and the rest are taking it way too far. What’s going to happen to all those people that have comepletely changes their lives, marriages, sold up and bought all these provisions when the world carries on as normal? MOO
They will move the doomsday date and continue on, buisiness as usual. Moo

It seems like the assumption is being made she has no under garments. Jmo
At least not the temple garments that endowed members wear as a symbol of their faith. Those cover much more skin (think T-shirt and knee length shorts) than what Lori is often seen wearing.

This indicates that either 1) she hasn't been to the temple and received her endowments yet, and therefore can't attend the temple to be sealed (the most believable option to me), 2) it's possible she was endowed at one point, but has completely forsaken the tenets of her faith, or simply doesn't understand/adhere to them (not likely, but possible), or 3) all the photographers caught her at the wrong time when she might not be required to wear the garments, for example going swimming (I find this hard to believe).

I just don't think Lori has been through the temple yet, especially not to be sealed to anyone. As I said earlier the beach wedding is the greatest evidence of this because for Latter-day Saints a temple sealing is the highest and ideal marriage ceremony to strive for. If they had already had their sealing performed in a temple (very unlikely considering all the strict protocols they'd have to go through first) there is absolutely no need for a different ceremony outside of the temple. But since they decided to have a beach wedding then that is strong evidence they couldn't get sealed in the temple, or were planning on doing it at a later date. JMO.

Yup. Been surprised to learn that he has not been arrested for wearing long pants within 1 mile of the shoreline.

And what did he mean by "I can't say" when asked if the kids are ok?

Surely, in jest, you post the personal comment. MOO
