Nancy Grace shocked by 'cult mom' Lori Vallow's courtroom behavior

LLZ06Bkr

Just so everyone remembers what this woman was acting like and looked like in court as we are studying pictures of the kids in Yellowstone Park .

Yes it seems like it's one big joke to her and her attorney isn't it? Couldn't care less attitude.

They aren't getting that much in revenue.
How much by your calculations then?

We were asked what our consensus was about Avow.

Thanks - that's a much larger following than I anticipated.

I had a reply at the end of the last thread to this that may or may not get moved over in which I suggested that this amount is overstated. I'll go into more detail here.

Someone in a prior thread indicated that the 13,000 number is the total number of people who have EVER signed up for an account. They paid enough to get at least initial access (a minimum of one month's charges, I assume) and in at least some cases it didn't seem worthwhile to them and they haven't paid a penny since. But they're still in that 13K count. Some number of people are active, current subscribers. I think the person who pointed this out had a number for the current subscribers, but don't remember what that number was. And I'm guessing those numbers are always changing, certainly they are now although whether going up or down, I don't know. That $44.95 annual is actually on special right now for $34.95. I assume you $14.95 is the cost of AVOW plus the GRI subforum which it looks like could be done for less now as well (looking at prices quoted on their website this very second).

Having said that, if the average number of people subscribed is only 10% of that 13,000 number at the almost $50 a year, that's still over 60K a year without adding in any other income for subforums and whatever other income streams there might be from advertising, affiliates of Amazon or other companies that want to sell big white tents and freeze dried food, etc. I'm not sure what expenses they have for the servers, but suspect at least one guy could be making an okay living from it if not better than okay.

As someone else suggested, these could be ready and waiting to be used if she makes bail. Maybe not, but certainly possible if there is concern with what might happen if she's running free.
Just curious... Does LE or FBI leak some info that --somehow-- gets to defence attorneys, who subsequently advise clients NOT to take bail, because other charges might be coming? Or would LE and FBI be more likely to keep as tight to the vest, so as to "encourage" the use of bail money to be spent upfront?

The defense lawyer’s mention of “no abandonment until a full year passes” was (1) irrelevant because, as you have figured out, she was talking about the standard under the statute for losing parental rights, not the standard under the criminal statute and (2) wrong even under the parental rights statute—a year of no contact or support of a child is PRESUMED to establish abandonment, but it can be proved other ways as well. For example, leaving your newborn baby in a dumpster would be abandonment; no need to wait a year to see if you stop by the dumpster to provide support.

So, it was a presumption AND she used it incorrectly (flat out wrong)?! No wonder it drove me to the wine cabinet!

oh i know that... I just think this could have been a highfalutin fling that went bad, and was covered up as a marriage... Just sayin that it is not outside of possibilities, especially since her other marriages are trackable by filed docs.

No offense, but you must not do very much genealogy research. I do genealogy research quite frequently and many states do not make records available for living people unless you have a legal reason to need them (i.e. you are LE or you are the parties in the records). Lack of marriage documentation that WE (the public) can find does not mean the marriage is fake or didn't happen or was annulled. But putting that aside, why should we disbelieve those who were close friends and family members of Lori who said say she was married and divorced to her high school boyfriend? Not everything is a conspiracy or coverup. MOO.

Still patiently awaiting further charges.

I suspect desertion or abandonment will be the least of their worries.

Some cryptic tweets from Dateline's Keith Morrison.

"In this as in most things..patience is a virtue."

"Oh they’ve been quietly very busy the whole time."

I love Keith Morrison, such a great guy, and also I think the Federal charges will blow people’s minds. MOO

I saw a report that Chad responded to a reporter when he left Hawaii that the kids are safe and I also believe a neighbor or some other third party reported he said essentially the same thing, without elaborating. I also saw that Christopher Parret of AVOW, one of the few supporters of the couple to speak publicly, said "they told him what has been going on with the kids, the marriage, Tammy's death, etc." and that the situation boils down to a “nasty, ugly custody case…involving major sums of money driven by ‘Grandma." Have there been any other statements, by either Chad or someone on his behalf, to the effect that the kids are safe or with some purported explanation as to what is going on?

I'm assuming LE has been or will be knocking on Parret's door. … Having said that BOTH Lori and Chad "told him what has been going on with the kids" makes him an important witness, in my opinion. Any thoughts on this by you all?

I seems they could question Parrett, and I hope they do! I just don't know if he will tell them anything of value. Also, he seems so hot air-ish... he probably doesn't know anything - but that's just my opinion.

Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (as opposed to LDS for the mainstream Mormon faith).

Yearning for Zion

Avenatti doesn't have anything to do with this case. He was one of Trump's attorneys and was arrested and put in jail. The MCC is (I think) the Metropolitan Correctional Center (a jail or prison in New York City?)
Thanks. We need a glossary for all these acronyms.

Good question for which I don't know the answer. I would think that cluing the defense attorneys in could potentially backfire as they might use that against the leakers, but the leak (if that was in the plan) could be a win-win for all concerned except (maybe) the bail bond company, and I'm okay with them getting the short end here. No one wins with the bail money being spent in this scenario except the bail bond company. That includes the general public. MOO

Any thoughts about LE checking GPS from Lori, Alex or Tylee's phone while in Yellowstone?

Any thoughts about LE checking GPS from Lori, Alex or Tylee's phone while in Yellowstone?

My assumption is that they have done this as far as they can for all phones they suspect were with them on the trip which would include Tylee's since that was found with Lori in Hawaii. My understanding is that GPS can sometimes work and generate data even when there is no cell signal, so in spite of much of YNP being touch and go for cell service, they might have some valuable information, but they aren't telling us if they do, at least not yet. :)

Hmm. How to say what I want. Maybe that CP should be named Richard so instead of Chris I could call him a nickname that fits. MOO
I’m fine with calling him DP, and I hope in his hubris he finds out what it’s like to get your business’s finances gone through with a fine tooth comb by the Feds. MOO

Lori Vallow Daybells next hearing is in 10 days. If I understand the proceedings correctly...At that time, the court will decide if they have enough evidence to hold her over for trial. This hearing will last from March 18-19, a two day hearing. If the court decides that there is not enough evidence, then Lori should be able to walk out of jail without needing to post the 1 million dollar bail.
I sincerely hope this is not how things turn out. Just wondering if anyone thinks that Lori and Chad will wait it out?
I don't think LE would have charged her in the first place if they were not confident the evidence was enough to ensure a conviction. Imo

Agreed.

People can call me crazy, but I am not convinced AxC was the individual that shot Charles Vallow.

Whether LE can prove that or not, I don't know.

ha ha!! This is true--->Not everything is a conspiracy or coverup... but I have to remind myself of that every once in a while!!! I actually do a lot of ancestry..and I think that is why this first venture to Websleuths has been so thrilling to me! constant learning rather than frustrating dead ends (often on Ancestry). I think I am just saying it is a "possibility". I knew someone in high school that did this--there was a pregnancy that had to be defended, but she did "claim" she was married!
