I thought you might enjoy some other coverage of the case by Scott Reisch, criminal defense attorney based in Colorado. I've just had approval to link them but we aren't allowed to sleuth the attorney, obviously.

He has more related to the case on his channel.

The first one starts discussing LV at 6mins:52s, and the second one starts from the beginning and lasts for about 6 minutes.

Ok this is a pretty interesting ....Basically the podcast attorney is saying Lori Vallow's attorney is in over his head and this will be a mess. o_O

There were a couple of open questions in my "follow the money" post that I have now resolved to my satisfaction.

The first was, "why Chandler AZ?" If you look at the three southern suburbs of Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert, you'll discover that there is a prepper presence there (such as a conference) and that many of the people we've encountered lived within a 30 minute driving radius of Lori. That included her brother, her niece, and several others. So it was kind of a home town for her.

The second was, "Why did Charles go to Houston?" I've encountered evidence that he had a legitimate business presence there. Details are irrelevant and outside the TOS. The R.I.T.E Planning Group said they did business in California, Texas and Hawaii. We've verified California and Texas and shouldn't be surprised if a Hawaii connection shows up down the road.

Can you explain why it occurred in that case... maybe give us an idea what we are seeing?

A quick google search provided a recent news report for an Idaho case in which AG took over but I don't know if the same/similar circumstances apply here. I'm confused.

From Mar 31, 2020
Idaho attorney general takes over murder cases; Minidoka County Prosecutor Gara Newman is pushed aside; Lance says justice demands it

I don't think it's the same. In the article you linked, the former AG is accused of strong-arming himself into the cases for questionable reasons. In the LV case, the Fremont County DA office asked for the AG to get involved.

I'm under the impression that it's fairly common for cross-jurisdictional cases to be kicked up to a higher level for investigation and prosecution, especially when there are turf issues. At least around here--don't know about Idaho.

I was reading an article about a church/cult that purchased a large amount of land on the northern border of Yellowstone Park back in the 80s. The members were encouraged to built extensive underground fallout shelters and stock them to prepare for "the end."

The Wikipedia article for this church doesn't say anything about the shelters no longer being there (link about the church at the end) and given the sparseness of population, I'm wondering if other groups could also have built their doomsday shelters in that area.

In other words, places for current people to hide? Or keep people hidden?

I'm not saying LV had anything to do with these other groups--just throwing out the possibility that apparently underground shelters already exist in the area. The one in the article is on Old Yellowstone Trail, just next to Hwy. 89.

Maybe someone that's familiar to the area might know if these shelters are well known by everyone already.

Yeah, that's why I phrased my post in that way... I don't think the circumstances are the same. But, sometimes I feel there's something going on in the background of this case.

Well, we could have told him that (ROTFL).

I'm betting the AG has appeared solely because the State of Idaho doesn't want this messed up on procedurals; as well as its seeming prudent if Mr. Means is going to keep jointly and severally accusing any judge in the local court of being biased.

ETA: Maybe the AG is going to try to talk Mr. Means out of representing Lori, and convince him she'd be better off with public defenders who are at least trained in criminal law and litigation? Maybe Means can't get anybody from that field to join him willingly (which is its own statement in and of itself); and maybe with him there, she doesn't qualify for a PD.

PPS: Sean Bartholick is also clearly no help, since I'm sure Chad has picked his brain for any known contacts in criminal law to jump on in there, or, same problem; nobody wants to be the one known for defending that crazy lady devotee of the comically freaky religious leanings who almost certainly killed her kids.

If I was murderer browsing for legal representation, one look at Mark Means’ website would tell me that I was in the wrong store.

I suspect that this is why the other two attorneys left the case

Attorney General takes over murder, conspiracy investigation in Daybell case

Uh oh. The big guns have been brought in. Outsiders, like FBI? caused a stir. Now the sh-t’s going to hit the fan....bc natives cannot hide behind LDS and its networks. Someone cracked it open. Wonder who?
Local LE had botched so many of the investigations, that national interest is now focusing on solving this case.

What’s going on is a MILLION DOLLARS IN LOUISIANA pressing for justice.

While I’m not a lawyer I work for them in a different capacity outside of directly litigating. I think the AG is being brought in because of resources. The AG will have the means to fully investigate and if necessary prosecute the case. This is a monster case that is likely overwhelming the RPD and county attorney. We’ve referred many cases to bigger firms because they had the manpower, and in some cases the money, for an in depth complicated case. While almost everything I work on is civil this has to be somewhat similar reasoning.

I like your theory. It makes sense to me :)

What does sealed residence upon release? Does that mean it's a given she gets bail lowered and is binding out? Thanks

My guess is that the attorney submitted to the court an address where LV will be residing if she is released on bond and they want the address sealed, probably for her safety.

I'm really thankful the AG is involved now.

The cross-state felonies warrant federal interest. Botched local LE investigations aside, this wild story has all the accidental makings of a RICO case.
