The attorney can't do anything in Hawaii unless he is licensed there, and I couldn't find him with a license search.

Maybe he's taking a tropical vacation. People do that when they're under a lot of strain and want to get away.;)

Would be fairly certain they have nothing to do with this kayak. Per the article date, January 27th, we know they were busy dodging the media that day and the next.
Only time will tell if it is or isnt - I just know by living here generally the items are claimed quickly -

If the children don't turn up, can't authorities try to track them down through school records?

It is mandatory that at least the youngest attend school, and even if children are home schooled there are still school records indicating this in many states.

If Lori can't prove he is in school, I would think she can be charged with neglect. Especially if he is a Special Needs student.

reminds me of david koresh and waco in a way. the defiance and steadfastness. wonder if LE has a game plan for this scenario.

I don't think CD has been served with anything, and contempt of court is a measly 5 days :(

Section 7-610 – Idaho State Legislature

But, isn't it possible the judge could decide she must remain in custody until the underlying case (produce the children) is resolved? Particularly, in light of all the circumstances (multiple investigations - autopsy results, etc) surrounding LV.

Idaho, unfortunately, is not one of those states. It's very conservative and very "freedom" loving.

To put things in perspective, it's one of the few remaining places were you can opt for prayer/faith healing for your kids instead of regular medical treatment. If they die, there are no repercussions because it's "religious freedom" to do that.

School records for JJ end on the last day he attended, which I believe was Sept 23rd. He was disenrolled the next day because Lori said she was going to homeschool him. Lori claims her daughter Tylee has her GED. Tylee was not enrolled in a public or private school during the 2019-20 school year.

Could there be loopholes that the lawyer is working on to not produce the children by the deadline?

Does anyone here think maybe Chad doesn't know much, that Lori has him completely blindfolded and in the dark, or that he is somehow a pawn of Lori's? Would she have some dirt on him or some other way of tying him up in this mess? Despite his wacky writings and involvements, he just doesn't seem like a mastermind or leader. He seems more like a guy with low self-esteem who would do anything to win favor with a woman he finds attractive. I just find it really hard to believe that he would go from "normal" family man to this, especially when everyone who knows him says they would never imagine him involved in something like this.

Lori on the other hand... Lori is evil. Death and destruction has followed her for a very long time.

I don't know, maybe I'm grasping. Maybe I just want to find some sanity in this crazy case.

I don't know enough legalize to be sure but I really, really hope you're right, or they have something else to pin down once they have them behind bars. I say them because IMO they're both in this together.

I'm curious too, if she had lived on Kauai previously and had that juice truck, which thank God I never saw or went to... with her other husband- she had to have had friends here and her children too what school did they go to? Homeschooling is very common here, her circle would've been small on the island and she would've know it well after living here and repeated returns- she would've known probably more or less what would happen to her in an event like this here, which as we see so far is nothing really. Wheres all the preparing a people people and those who claim to have psychic gifts- why cant they tell us where those kids are?

Not true.

Lori took out JJ to "homeschool" him. There is virtually zero oversight for homeschooling in Idaho. No required tests, no letters to superintendent, no teaching qualifications (even for special needs children), nothing.

EDIT: The only thing "required" in Idaho is to teach your child the same subjects as public school....yet there is still noone/nothing to check that you are actually doing that.

if they "get away" i will scream. how have they not had eyes on these 2 for the last 5 days and know exactly where they are at this moment, in case they need to serve them with a warrant when the kids don't show up at 17:00. how is this convoluted mess even real?

It might have started out that way and I'm sure he likes having a flashy little wife that acted like he was all that, but at this point no. He knows full well, and many crimes end up with "we never thought he could XYZ!"

I think one of the members here who knew him personally, described Chad as a wannabe leader. If Tammy didn't die of natural causes, I bet he was actively involved.

Also, the jail here... if you're charged with say a misdemeanor -it's like, the guys are outside playing volleyball or gardening- theres no fence even, they could walk out if they wanted to but then they get sent to Oahu, any more serious offense usually go to Oahu - I wish I would've known for the last couple months about this case. I dont have cable and rarely watch the news, and theres alot of people like that here. But I'm just thinking, why wasn't there missing persons fliers and photos of them out up around the island? In case anyone saw them or the kids?

I feel like the deaths, murders and disappearances all have one thing in common; the eventual relationship of these two. If he was being strung along, and had an ounce of sanity, he would have left a while ago. Instead, he’s been working on his Hawaiian tan. They are well suited for one another.

Well isn't that convenient.

Still, can't they be asked to provide proof he is being homeschooled? Lori can't be doing it herself since he hasn't been with her all these months.

As a consolation prize, I could accept this scenario:

Lori, in handcuffs, police issue ones
Chad standing there in his Pumas, baggie of cash in hand
Sadly waving buh bye
