Okay, here is why this comparison is not only problematic, but kinda wrong.

Its not that I don't get the comparison. I do. And I think it was made in good faith. I stated that multiple times. But... It's really not that accurate.

Doomsday cults kill or hide their kids because of an imagined threat, because cults. The parents who sent their kids away from the Nazis did so because of a real and present danger. The reason the arguments don't align is because it artificially coflates the feeling of cult parents who have irrational motives, with those of perfectly sane parents, who have absolutely rational motives.

And you’re wrong because in their minds it’s a real threat. So since we know it’s an imaginary threat, the only way for us to get a feel for why someone would do this is to imagine a situation where you would feel the threat to be real. That’s why it’s a good comparison.

Back in my days of teaching writing through “Everything Is an Argument,” I would have given the OP an “A”.

I still doubt that there's enough personal connection between the group members and Chad to turn them into accomplices. Surely there would be some sign of communication detected by the police. IMO while Chad is away, the groups are doing their own thing.

MOO but unless we were involved with them or from verified news sources we really don’t have a clue what they’re upto or how much they have to do with the deaths/missing children. Many may well be completely oblivious to it, some may/not be more involved. We just don’t know and it’s all speculation. JMO

I'm sure I've missed some locations as there are so many places to keep straight in this multi-case case. This is like following 5 or 6 crime threads at once but all events intertwine with the two POI's in JJ and Tylee's disappearance. Any suggestions for what else should be mapped?

How about the Chandler Police Department? That's where Alex was taken for an interview after the shooting. It also is about the same distance as the school from the house, along much of the same route, and under similar traffic conditions due to time of day. Ergo we can get a reasonably accurate and realistic time it would have taken Lori to take JJ to school as it did for the officer to take Alex to the PD based on that officer's body cam. MOO.

Every Friday for the past few weeks I wake up hoping it is the day we hear about arrest(s) in this case. For some reason I don't expect it today. I think they will wait until after the Feb 10th deadline for Dept of Welfare to report back to the court. Unless Tammy's autopsy comes back. Then we could see some movement on that. I've got to be away from my computer today so that probably means everything will happen while I'm gone, LOL.

Nate and Eric have been pretty quiet the last couple days and it seems like Kim might still be in Hawaii as of 7 hours ago. Could Nate be making another trip to Kauai? I wonder if Kim was sent there this week with a tip that something big could happen or if she is fishing/hoping to get exclusive video of Lori and Chad walking around? MOO.

DAY 37: This is Jon. We met today on a long flight. We both had aisle seats on the very last row of the plane with two people next to each of us. When the flight attendant came by with the cart, he told everyone on our row that he was buying them all drinks. I don’t drink but appreciated the offer. We hadn’t said anything to each other until that point - but then we started to chat. He moved to Salt Lake City a year ago from Minneapolis to work for a video tech company. The guy on the other side of me then started to talk and told me he just graduated with his masters from the University of Utah. He started a new job this week and is so excited. Jon’s act of kindness to buy me a drink was an icebreaker to start a conversation - and he made my flight much better today!

I totally get that in their minds, the apocalypse could be a real threat. In their minds, they see and realize that threat.

But we don't live in their minds, do we? The world moves on without them.

So it's pretty disrespectful to compare victims of war who make the totally rational choice to deport, or even kill their children, to that of one ALLEGED cultist blonde lady and her weird Mormon author husband. And once again, I get the comparison and the feel behind it.

The war victims didn't have a choice. They had to move their kids. We don't know what happened to Lori's kids, but she did have choices.

This is all I will say about this as of now.

Can you tell us more about St. Anthony in general? Obviously, Lori and Chad are enjoying beachy hair, but what is St. Anthony? Thanks. jmo

County seat of Fremont county. Population of about 3,000 compared to Rexburg's 30K+. Between 5 and 10 miles from the Daybell's house to either St Anthony or Rexburg. Rexburg is the "big" town in the immediate area with St Anthony being the distant second place.

Outside of the immediate area if anyone is famliar with St Anthony it is almost always, at least in my experience, a person who has taken an off road vehicle of some kind (motorcycle, dune buggy, or the like) to the sand dunes a few miles west of town. It is also the site of a former state reform school, so some people of a certain age associate it with that. I'm not sure what the complex where the reform school is used for now other than it is rumored to be haunted and they make use of that around Halloween. Other than that St Anthony is pretty much just another obscure rural town with nothing much of note to say about it.
