If it were, boarding schools would be illegal. In the not too distant past it wasn't uncommon at all (especially for the wealthy) to ship their kids off at ~10 and only see them at school breaks until they reached adulthood. There are a lot of reasons someone else might be caring for your child long term. We dont know the kids have been inside or isolated the whole time. I think step 1 is just to verify there are still children to protect, which might happen tomorrow.

Sure, there are a variety of reasons that parents might send their kids somewhere to be cared for long-term. JJ was already moved around like that between his adoptive parents and grandparents, another aunt, etc. and I know many teens who go have independent adventures away from family, stay with others, etc.. But in all of those cases, your kid would be easily accounted for. You know where they are and it isn’t a secret, communication is allowed, records are kept. Especially in the case of a 7 year old.

Not having an ideal situation is different from legal neglect. You can be a bad mom and still not be committing the legal definition of abuse/neglect. To prove abuse/neglect you need to be able to view the children and their living situation, and right now there's no way to prove it without the kids. Casey Anthony pulled a similar stunt, everyone knew she didnt just give her daughter to some rando that had no traces of existing, but legally they couldn't do anything until there was proof that her daughter was not being cared for (because she was dead). We all know Lori is aware of what happened to the kids, she just thinks no one can do anything about it.

She's got decent amount of money considering the accounts she drained before Charles was killed. Probably still has the substantial amount of money she got from Joe Ryan's death, because why would she spend her money when she could spend Charles'? I dont think she wants to blow through it that quickly, but she might if she thought the world was going to end or she had another payout coming soon. I dont really think she'd charter a flight, just because I dont think she's going to leave HI. The reporters have been excellent at hounding her, if she was getting on a public plane in HI I've no doubt one of their team would be on there with her.
I think if she has not left on today's morning flight there is just the 23.30 flights now to get her there in time IMO. What do others think? Could she still make it if she did not leave till tomorrow morning flight?
Also, if someone else takes them in and she does not appear, does that comply with the court order?

Regarding the money taken from Charles' business account, that was a year ago and I think it likely they went to Hawaii with that money in February 2019 when she was missing for a total of 58 days. So I think that will be already spent. MOO.

I know someone posted a list of flights from Lihue. But the list was incomplete. There are hundreds more flights if you connect through HNL

Is that even legal? I'm having a hard time thinking LE ever stepped foot in that townhouse without a warrant. Jmo.

I also think it would be counterproductive for LE to have been in the condo before the official search. Anything they saw in the prior entry could not be used as evidence. Much better to do things with a warrant.

She could provide proof of life at least. If possible, that is.

I'm wondering if it's possible, too.

My other thought is wondering if someone else were to present them, how likely would it be the state (CPS) takes custody of them?

They will lose three hours in addition to the travel time and connections. If she isn't out of there tonight, I wouldn't take that as a very good sign.

I read on one of the links provided that if they could be held in "contempt of court". What would that mean for them? Would they be held in a jail, given a fine?

I don't know anything about contempt of court except from watching tv shows, so I'm just wondering what that might look like in real life?

I'm trying to make sure all the recent videos are in the media thread and I found Nate's encounter with Chad and Lori on East Idaho News youtube. I'm pretty sure I watched it through their news site before. For anyone who is following and usually can't get into US news sites here it is:

This is a MUST WATCH video IMHO and it's worth re-posting. So much is said in that 3 minute walk even if Lori and Chad didn't speak much. MOO.

This is the most insane video I have ever seen

Like imagine the famous "abduction" scams, except not even denying it?

What is the latest time she would have to leave the Marriott by to make it to SLC via a connection through HNL and then Rexburg before 5 pm tomorrow?

Because it was probably just a routine welfare check. I don't think anyone knew then what was going on especially not the grandparents who made the call. So if a decent looking husband and wife tells you the kids are staying with friends, maybe so they can honeymoon... And assuming she pretended to call them, but they must be at the park (or some other logical excuse) since they aren't answering... why would it necessitate anything further besides verifying what they say? Which they then attempted to do, obviously they found out it was all a lie and returned. Maybe they wouldve held her until she produced the kids at that point had she been at the home.
All of my examples were routine welfare checks based on far, far less than the concerns for Lori’s kids. For example, in Meghan Edmonds’ case, she is known to be a devoted mother, but when her ex (who’d just filed for divorce) requested a welfare check because he’d heard she’d gone out for two hours and was worried she might have had a drink, the cops entered her home, had to speak with the babysitter and personally see the children.

Someone asked what Tylee's name would be in Hawaiian - Kaili.

As amusing as they might seem, per WS rules we're not allowed to use derogatory nicknames for key players.
