Here's something else I thought of. The townhomes at 565 Pioneer Rd in Rexburg are two-story with a garage in the rear and front door opposite side. We've all said there is no way Chad couldn't have missed seeing the toys on the front porch. With this footage of all the kids' things in the storage unit. I'm not sure. The townhome Lori was in, #175, faces an inner yard and sidewalk and the front of another building. What if these people are storing personal items in the storage unit (early October) that belong to the children because the children have already been moved (September 24-October 1). There's a chance that CD moves in late October or early November and only enters through the garage. We know how sparse the home was in AZ from the bodycam footage. How likely is it that there's nothing to show children lived there? How likely is it that he never goes out the front door? The townhome is in the middle of the building. To get to the garage would be easiest through the unit rather than out the front door and around all the way north or south. Why use the front? If he never used the front, he wouldn't see the toys? If he did see the toys, it's easily explainable that they're from MB's children. The lies are really easy to keep him out of the loop of their existence for a few days before Nov 7 in Hawaii. Then, island paradise for a few weeks, back to Rexburg. If that's not CD in the storage unit, then he's easily unaware of the children. If the Nov 24 is him and Lori, still easy to say it's not Lori's children, or that they're deceased: "no minor children". I'm not saying this has to be true, but it's all very plausible IMO.
When he is seen wheeling a kid's bike into Lori's storage then who does he think it belongs to? Most items also have JJ's name on them that belong to him as well. He also would surely have known about Charles death in July and must have googled him. MOO.

I set my own work schedule. And I'm dragging my feet visiting some accounts because . . Justin Lum. Agh. I keep flipping between fb and twitter.

First post. This case has consumed so much of my thoughts (and time, oops)
I’m so grateful for all of the awesome info from you all!

Regarding the Storage Garage:
It gave a lot of people a “bad feeling” about the children. I found it troubling, but it made me think.. Why keep so many personal belongings if they’re deceased? Seems like it could be safe keeping. JMO

Regarding the BB shooting:
Was there an alibi or mention of MB’s new husband possibly being involved? Apologies if this has already been discussed.

now to figure out all the acronyms :)

Ugh! That makes me very sad. I wonder how many allies Lori and Chad have on the island?

I agree BigAl. I don't think Lori married CD for money (and at the time they were having an affair, I don't think he had that much - look at the Rexburg house..). I think rather it was infatuation with (what Lori bizarrely saw) as power and influence. She clearly fell under a deep spell from his books. She's was marrying the prophet himself.

There's a chance Lori knew that perhaps CD had upped the payout on TD's life insurance, and thought she would benefit in some secondary way (at least until she could off him too..), but there's been little proof of this (or an amount). Plus, Lori may have been thinking she'd just scored on a 2m life insurance payout from CV..

In fact, maybe CD married HER for the money. I've been bashed for saying it before, but I've never bought the mid-life crisis, chasing-a-dancing-blond thing as sufficient motive - or that Lori was all that (she's nearly 50 years old). If CD had money (or was about to have big money from life insurance proceeds) and wanted to change his life and galavant on a beach in HI, why marry at all?
I thought they only had a commitment or something, not actually a marriage - saw that in one of the articles yesterday. Can't remember which one now.

1. I was shown by LE pictures of a Jeep and asked if I had seen it in person. To which I answered no.
2. I did answer questions regarding other aspects of this case which I am not at liberty to reveal due to the ongoing investigation.
@RexburgSleuth - I’m not even sure exactly what I’m trying to figure out here, but... something is subconsciously bugging me.

Absolutely don’t answer if you can’t, shouldn’t, don’t want to, it might out you, etc. I’m not really trying to be nosy, these are just questions that popped into my head as I’m trying to get at whatever it is I feel like I’ve missed. (I promise, not gonna take offense if you decline to answer any of it.)
  • Why is LE asking you about the Jeep? Is it reasonable to think you might have seen it? Do you live or work somewhat near the Daybells or the townhouse group that you might have seen it? Does LE think that someone might have driven it to church or attended the church?
  • Did you believe they asked others about the Jeep? A few, or many? The other questions that you have to keep to yourself... were those asked of just you, or many?
  • What led to police questioning you? Did they think you might have info based on proximity to people or places? Did someone else give them your name? Or did you contact police, believing you might have useful information?
  • Do you believe the local police have interviewed many community members? Or just a few?
  • I noticed in a more recent post that you used the word “friend” multiple times in regard to Chad Daybell. Previously I’d been under the assumption (not sure why) that he was more of an acquaintance, that you knew him as someone else who went to the same church, but not much more. How would you actually describe the relationship? How do you think he would?
  • Prior to this situation becoming known, was he someone you believed would confide in you?
  • What’s your perception of the number and kind of relationship (friends, acquaintances) that Daybell had? Were you aware of other people you’d presume Daybell would confide in?
  • I’d also had the impression that you knew Tammy or one of their kids better than Chad. Is that accurate?
  • Are there any red flags that only became noticeable to you in hindsight?
And finally... are you doing ok? I ask because your post after the Hawaii interview, where you used the word friend several times, it seemed like actually seeing him on video might have made it all more real. You came across as disappointed, sad, and maybe even hurt.

I kind of felt the same way...Why keep all that stuff if the kids are gone? Then again, there could be some reasons for that, but none of those reasons make sense if you stop paying for the storage unit. Once payment has stopped, those things will be given away or auctioned off.

Good question about MB's new hubby and whether or not he has an alibi. I haven't seen anything about that yet, but I could have missed the discussion.

Perhaps she thought dumping it all at goodwill at once might make people suspicious, or that action more memorable?

And then stopping payment after she became aware LE knew about it?

Can we even talk about that? For me, I’m curious what his build is like... the storage unit is in Rexburg, after all.

And I wonder if Lori or Alec have any storage units in Arizona?

Why did Nate not reveal the date they unloaded the heavy item and the tire from the storage unit??

I think it's so we can't work out whether Alex could have been in Gilbert on the 2nd. Drat!

Lori Daybell abandoned a storage unit in Rexburg full of children's items | East Idaho News
Lori was alone at the storage on October 1st. All other visits were after the Gilbert murder attempt, although one on the same day.

ETA: According to the video, Lori returned to the storage on October 2nd and 3rd with a man who appeared to have been her brother Alex. If that was indeed him, he could not have been in Gilbert.

BBM

In the mind of a criminal (hypothetically) it would beat being caught disposing of the items. A burn pile attracts attention and leaves evidence of metal items like ice skate blades and bicycle frames, for example. I don't know how the US deals with trash collections - burned or buried in landfill? Again those items are probably going to stand out if you are seen dumping them because they are in perfect condition, expensive and/or sentimental like photos and memory quilts. Strange items to leave on the side of the road also. Sell the items and you leave buyers as witnesses.

Much easier to take a storage unit in a name which you know is going to change when you get married in a few weeks time, and then let the payments lapse, leaving the company to dispose of the items.

MOO
