Oh my goodness the 911 call from Brandon’s dad! So intense. He was right to be scared.

Justin Lum is a true Investigative Journalist!!! Other reporters would be wise to pay attention to his efforts. Hope he gets some sort of award/recognition for his coverage in this case!!!

Agreed, Nate has been amazing as well!

I was just thinking the other day that CNN (or another big national news company) should really have their eyes on these two gentlemen! They are awesome!!!

So I have a question...I recall from that TV report in Hawaii, that the police there are keeping an eye on Lori and Chad. Ready to bring them in once they get word from the police in Idaho. So, what's the hold-up?? Why haven't the Idaho police jumped on it?
Thanks for your ideas!

I fell like I'm too drunk to add to this conversation meaningfully at this point, but I'll try.

Any idea where Alex's house is/was? I'm assuming that these places are the same:
- the "garage door left open" place, and
- the "Alex and Lori had a fight in a street" place, and
- where he was living when CV was killed

I'm also thinking that where Alex was living when he died is someplace else, perhaps at his new wife's home?

I think the place where Alex died is a different house, yes. ZP and her son lived there, IIRC. The son didn't know ZP and Alex were married, so IMO it's not certain that Alex had moved in, or was just there from time to time.

I'd like to know if "Alex's place" at the times when the first three events occurred is also the home where Alex lived when Tylee was staying at his place, alone, and kept her baseball bat as protection.

You know what this case really lacks? A motive. The life insurance payouts weren't all that big, and the family and relatives atill had ties to the kids or the deceased. Say Lori and whoever did kill whoever due to a cult, which we don't know yet. How does the cult profit?

Agreed. The .45 ACP is a big, heavy gun compared to a subcompact .380, 9mm or even .40 cal, and is difficult to conceal (assuming you're trying to conceal it, which is typical of those who carry for self defense). Anything smaller than .380 though, and you lose pretty significant stopping power. But you're right. It's a big gun.

I don't carry for self defense and never did when I lived in AZ. But I did have guns and went shooting in the desert fairly regularly. It's a common pasttime. I thought about taking one for self defense when I went camping and such. If I did it would have been something with stopping power like a .45. If I ever felt the need to shoot at someone I would want it to be effective at stopping any threat.

Well, it could be a few reasons to keep the hounds and pigs at the ready, but here's a few just from me:

1) The FBI is a-waiting to drop the G-men in rare form just in case there really is a cult behind Lori and Chad.

2) The Interstate agencies are just really baffled about how to charge who, and with what crime, and where. The kids disappeared, but that doesn't a crime make.

3)A wizard did it

I don't carry for self defense either.

I have all the above calibers, unless you are a muscular 200 pounds I would recommend a 9. LEA use it and for good reasons. You almost never hear of police using a 45... well unless your significant other drops death threats and has angels on standby to dispose of your body... then use a 45 and follow it up with a wooden stake! When the time is right, of course.

Why would you use it though? Who are you stopping, and in what context?

Not to be argumentative, but I dont need to look it up, I've got it in my gun safe. I'm not saying you're going to hide it in your clutch like a derringer, but its not that big of a problem to carry. I dont know many people who carry often that just shove things in their waistband, so perhaps that's where the misunderstanding is coming from. A holster with a tshirt flopped over it is considered concealed as well. The comment that started all this was along the lines of "Yikes a 45, isnt that something someone would only use if they thought they were going to encounter a bear". No, a 45 is not generally a large game weapon, and is quite commonly found in self defense situations. Are there smaller weapons, sure, but if we're talking was it too big for Alex to be using daily for his personal protection, certainly not.
So one consideration I have not seen mentioned is that the .45 will have a lot more kick than the 380. But I don't think that is something a guy like Alex would be concerned with while a smaller woman likely would. The extra weight of the .45 actually is beneficial for that.

The Parties named are not who I expected to see there based on media reports (can't name them/sleuth them here but it's not Kay and Larry).
No, and w/minor sleuthing I haven’t been able to find anything linking them to CV. I have ruled out Charles was not a part of their wedding party though, so there’s that.

  • #955
Yes, this is an outside interested party. Maybe they saw the news? At one time Charles owned the company named in the filing exhibit but he disolved it in January of 2018. It was also an LLC so not sure how that would impact a private estate.
It’s interesting. The interested 3rd parties list CVs 3 marriages and state that he was divorced from Lori at the time of his death, though they didn’t give a date for the divorce. Is it possible they know something we don’t or are they just mistaken?

  • #956
If he named them as executors, that would make sense. Probate is weird and has a million random rules and ways they do things. In Oregon, they follow lines of succession for executor unless there are named executors in a will, for example. I would assume AZ is similar.
They aren’t executors, they’re creditors. They apparently lent his company $200,000 back in 2016.

I'm sure I've missed some locations as there are so many places to keep straight in this multi-case case. This is like following 5 or 6 crime threads at once but all events intertwine with the two POI's in JJ and Tylee's disappearance. Any suggestions for what else should be mapped?
@Gardener1850
YOU ARE AMAZING!

Alex Cox gun

ALEX COX’S GUN: More details on the initial second-degree murder of Charles Vallow that Chandler Police currently rule as a self-defense homicide. This report details the findings of the fun Cox used in the shooting. A Springfield XD .45 caliber handgun lying on the carpet next to an orange duffel bag. Inside the bag, a black hard sided case with .45 caliber magazines and ammunition. The detective recalls the magazine having five cartridges inside. The magazine indicated 13 cartridges could be loaded. The rest of the report describes the blood found in the kitchen sink, layout of the home and no sign that Charles had been moved.
It also notes the officer:

1). Took pictures of blood around the faucet but did not swab it

2). Took it upon himself to clean CV’s blood up before Alex returned to the house.

WHAT!!???

So much for blood pattern evidence.

If they didn’t redact that, makes you wonder what they did redact (as almost half the document is redacted).

I think the quote was "we saw them loading the U-Haul they rented in Arizona and took to Rexburg and we saw where they were living..." So the PI could've been reporting on events that all occurred in Rexburg after 10/2 (even though perhaps the U-Haul had been rented in AZ).

But if the U-Haul had been rented in AZ around late Aug, that's a long time to keep the rental..

Could he have seen them packing up the U-Haul in AZ as they were making the initial move, then at a later date he went up to ID to see where they were living?
