It's not close to anything. It's way the heck out past Waimea Canyon.

This used to be where all the marijuana growers were--when we were there, oh, thirty years ago I guess, they warned us not to hike out that way because of that.
A grow operation is a very solid possibility!

Well, the island is small, so you can drive from one side to the other in a couple hours depending on traffic - but there's only one hwy and it's a horseshoe- so it goes all the way around- Kokee is like driving up a mountain, like the Grand Canyon, but of Kauai, really beautiful- if you look in YouTube theres plenty videos of Kauai for those who've never been and want to get and idea of the island. One thing is if you live in one area you tend to stay in that area, so for instance in had a friend I met years ago on the north shore, but her and her family moved to the west side of the island - now I hardly see her because it's as if she lives in another state almost... those who live in Hawaii could understand I think...

I experienced this living on Maui. I lived in Kihei and rarely saw any of my friends in Lahaina. It’s a strange thing on the islands. On the mainland I’ll drive a few hours to see a friend and it seems like nothing, island living is very different. You stick to your little pocket. However, there’s also a lot more landslides, brush fires, flash floods, etc that shut down highways regularly on Maui.

Absolutely, I just hope it's at a restaurant close to the courthouse during their trial.

How about in Kauai. We can call it the Luau for Lolo!

Does the apocalypse begin at midnight or sunrise on July 22? (Asking for a friend)

Just a thought. Why such a short trip to Maui? Someone here mentioned they saw them wearing wedding rings—which have been conspicuously absent in the past. If the earlier ceremony was just a commitment ceremony as sometimes reported, maybe they went to Maui to make it official? The location could be special to them or they could have travelled to ensure more privacy. Maybe a marriage certificate will be discoverable now if it wasn’t before?

Finally, I get a moment to catch up! I can only access WS on mobile most of the time, which makes posts tough.

I've had a nagging thought for a few days. CD and LD had quite the set of wedding photos done. For all their doomsday stuff...why get photos done, if the world is ending in July? This concept just struck me as really funny.

There must be a good reason for this hop to Maui. I don’t buy into the theory that they got “pushed” back to Kauai. Was something else happening on Kauai (or elsewhere) that Chad and Lori’s movement was a distraction for? Or, they had an agenda on Maui. There had to be a big reason for them to put themselves out there like that. MOO

If such a person did exist I think Chandler might be outside his jurisdiction. Maybe. Just brainstorming, but there might be other like minded members of LE? MOO
But we all know that LE often stay bonded and connected to one another, and do favors, so it is in the realm of possibility this person, who worked for a nearby pd at the time of CV shooting, who I believe introduced LV /CD in 2018, assisted internally, and perhaps knew what the plan was. Sounds crazy, but what part of this story isnt'? And this person could be mistaken for Alex in the jeep on Oct 2nd. My other theory is the other sibling is involved with the BB shooting. MOO

As far as you know, is anyone putting any pressure on Chandler PD to explain/defend their behavior? Are the local news stations accusing them of incompetence? In Denver, they would be tripping over each other to do a story.
Not at all, that I am aware of, in terms of pressure on Chandler PD. I will see what I can find out tomorrow.
The news stations are too busy showing the same clip of that so-called sighting in Nashville. They often give you the same story for days on end, with no new info. There is another missing person case in my area where he went hiking and never came back, and has been missing since the end of December. That story is glossed over by the news outlets..I didn't know about it until I saw it on Websleuths. So yeah, news media here isn't what I would consider reliable.

Interesting... so what you're saying is, the putative rumored sighting seems likely to just disappear eventually, and unless it is definitively debunked before it disappears, none of the local AZ stations will follow up with anything about whether or not it is a bust, hoax, other?

Apologies for posting in an extensive thread while having limited knowledge myself... but this case is honestly very difficult to follow from the other side of the world, even though I have been trying. I think there was a bit of early misreporting with regard to the relationships between various family members in this case, so that's one of the things that got me super confused. I'll continue to try and catch up, but I can't even remember the last time a case caught my interest and yet I couldn't fully get my head around it no matter how many articles I read, or how many news bulletins I watched. This is one of those times.
Here's the issue I wanted to post about though, and I'm sure it's been said before... as an Australian, I can't even imagine a scenario like this occurring in my country without an arrest. Even if you took away a lot of the red flags in the Vallow case, and simplified it down to just a report of missing children, and a custodial parent who can't produce the children and at the same time seems unperturbed by their absence... I'm pretty sure that would be enough over here. I have read that a lack of evidence is the reason there's been no arrest. To me that explains why there there wouldn't be an arrest for a crime like murder, but not why authorities can't make use of lesser charges pertaining to child endangerment.
Anyway, like a lot of people who are posting about this... I have attempted to convince myself of scenarios that make these two children alive and well, and just waiting to be found. I tried, but I can't be convinced at all unfortunately. I'm just hoping that everyone who deserves swift answers and justice, gets it.

Maybe L&C went to Maui for a convention or listened to a speaker at the Hotel. Anyone know of any events coming up in HI that would interest L&C? The lady that talks from her car will be having a energy class in HI sometime in June.

When I enlarged the second pic (airport walking) I realize it appears she has tatts on her arm - just as previously noted by others in another photo). We know she doesn't have tatts sooo... It's obviously pixels or something camera generated. JMO

Lori has a lot of notebooks/books stored in the seat in front of her. I zoomed in on the storage pockets on the seats in front of L&C trying to get a glimpse of what might be in them, with out any luck. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

When I lived on Maui all my rental homes came fully furnished. It’s pretty common there with so many people moving on and off the islands.
Vacation rentals would be fully furnished, but not regular rentals (41 yr maui resident)

Really hope we aren't waiting years for the breakthrough ...

On the Big Island lots of people have shirts the look like the t-shirts the FBI agents wear. The say "FBI" in big letters the "From Big Island" in small print. Wouldn't it be fun to distribute those on Kauai so C&L think they are being followed by FBI everywhere.[/QUOTE
Being followed visibly by law enforcement to the extent it stresses them and removes any relaxation would be a good idea I think. All they have to do if the children are well is quietly let law enforcement know where they are and move on.

I agree it is super weird also from the NZ perspective where we have strong primacy of the child legislation in the Family Court and more limited rights to silence

I've come around to the view that the extremely unique nature of the case rips up the playbook here.

Namely multiple potential murders, combined with missing kids. So in some respects you've got shades of Casey Anthony and it does look like the Court could cut through the charade by taking custody and exposing LV to felony charges for failing to say where the kids are.

BUT

if the kids are actually dead, this angle doesn't take us anywhere, except to put LV in jail on less serious charges, which might be a bad idea right now in view of evidence the state is sitting on.

So maybe the state is working on more direct approaches and likely, trying to figure out where the kids are
