I'm confused. In the article, the victim's sister says Mark went hunting with someone from work. But Mark was found dead, by himself.

Did Mark lie to her about going with someone else?

I know it is hard to piece this together even a little. Who was this guy from work? Was it the same guy up there driving around? Little clues, and an old murder. Would be great if the family could get the justice they deserve.

I can't watch the video right now but just based on the article my first thought was shot by mistake by another hunter. There may be reasons why that hunter did not want to report the incident. Also a slight possibility that the hunter was not aware that his shot hit anything or anyone. The article states that the police believe it was not an accident but with no explanation why. I guess the type of weapon used would be a quick indicator ( i.e. handgun). Also. Who is the friend that he went with?

I believe the wound was from a high powered rifle to the stomach. The foul play would be pushed forward due to his rifle being found some great distance from his body. Plus I believe much of his body was covered in mud which would indicate him being dragged to that location.

Just thinking. If he were shot by another hunter. Could he have dropped his rifle and been trying to get to some help? Could the mud have come from crawling for some distance?

Connie told Dateline she still wonders how the killer/s reacted after killing her brother. “I’d like to know how they treated him after they shot him,” Connie told Dateline. “Did they have remorse? Were they kind to him? Were they -- or were they just looking out for themselves? I guess that’s the big question.”

Mark’s rifle, hunting jacket, and the bullet he was shot with were all missing from the scene, according to KTVB.

The rifle was found about a year later, according to authorities, about a mile from where Mark’s body had been discovered. The bullet and the hunting jacket, however, were never found. “It was a brand-new jacket he had just gotten on his birthday,” Connie told Dateline. “His birthday was September 19th, and he was killed on the 20th [of October.] He hadn’t even -- this was his first day wearing it.”

I had to do a double take. The photo with his shirt off looks just like my brother did in 1974. RIP Mike I think whoever shot Mark was guilty of at least one of the seven deadly sins: Envy

Mark was the fifth of nine siblings. His sister, Connie Sheldon, also 17 years old at the time, was the fourth. Connie told Dateline that Mark was a sweet, shy boy. She shared a memory from when they were both about five or six. “I remember me being afraid of earthworms. And after a big rainstorm hit, there were these worms all over the street,” she said. “And I was crying, so Mark put me on his back and he carried me home.”

On Friday, the primary investigator on this case, Det. Joseph Hall, spent hours on the witness stand.
