I wish there was more information on this case. Agreed, there could be much more to matts disappearance. How much was this looked into by law enforcement? Also, above was a comment or two made by user name gmashan....friend of matt who was trying to locate him. He has not returned to the site...would like to get more insight.

My guess is that law enforcement either did very minimal or nothing at all in regards to investigating Matt's disappearance. :(

I agree with you about wishing their was more information available; both about the circumstances as well as Matt's character and his personal relationships.

From records we've seen on a Utah John Doe, DNA from family members of Matt Amon was uploaded to CODIS about 2014. There was no match with the Utah John Doe, and presumably no hits yet in CODIS on other John Does.

Something tells me, Matt prob ran off to get away from legal heat, drugs, and acquaintances.
Maybe he is alive and well (?)

Is there any document about his release from prison?
This case reminds me Joseph Stephen Dziowgo...

He is likely dead.

IMO, Matt could have ran off to start a new life after going to jail and being involved in drugs..if that was the case, he would be in his early 70s and probably comfortable in his ways...or, he was involved with the wrong crowd and met his demise....body still missing.

<<Details of Disappearance

Amon was last seen in Pocatello, Idaho on August 11, 1971. He was arrested for disorderly conduct in July of that year, spent a few weeks in the Bannock County Jail, and disappeared shortly after his release. He has never been heard from again.

Amon previously attended Pocatello High School. He was allegedly hanging out with a rough crowd and was involved in heroin at the time of his disappearance. He was not reported missing for approximately forty years. Few details are available in his case.>>
