From the scene in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where a major emergency is unfolding. Scanner reports multiple firefighters shot. It’s chaotic - we have multiple crews on the scene trying to confirm info. A shelter in place was just issued.

How horrible! Did someone start a fire in order to lure firefighters to their deaths? What a monstrous thing to do.

That is what appears to be the case...

I've heard of cop ambushes, but I can't recall hearing of a firefighter ambush before. There's probably been some, but I've not heard of them.

What grudge could a person have against firefighters?

Due to its proximity to Washington state, some people online are wondering if it's Steve Decker.

Personally, I doubt it. I guess sometimes killers go out in a blaze of glory, but it seemed like he's been more intent on laying low. If not dead.

MOO.

My dad is a trauma surgeon in CDA, he got called in for a mass casualty response at 2:15pm.

I doubt it also. Decker has a log cabin built for himself somewhere by now. He’s laying low for sure.

My thoughts are with your dad, and all who provide care during this terrible time.

Just some insight from someone who grew up 2 miles away, this is not a remote area by any means. Cherry Hill is a playground and sledding hill and all of that side of Canfield mountain is houses and very busy walking trails. It’s 80 degrees and sunny there today, I’m surprised no hikers have been shot.

I can't believe it, the violence and insanity these days.
Hoping very much there are no deaths among the firefighters and police. and may all injured recover.

Shooter hasn't been apprehended yet right?
