It's interesting rewatching the presser this morning. Robert's dad side is hanging on to each other. His mother's side is standing there apart from each other not touching. Not sure what that means, but interesting to see the difference.

I'm gagging at the "stay at home" dad comment -:sick::sick::sick::sick:

Oh my goodness - he isn't even allowed around one of the kids :eek:

These poor babies. CPS is certainly doing a bang up job here! (And I mean that literally)

Salem

Yeah, can't you just see him making sure the kids made it to playdates and such?

what gets me is cases like this where the kids should have been taken away. then you have cases where the parent is actually railroaded to feel like they have no other choice but to give up their children because of some over zealous caseworkers or if you're unfortunate to have an ex in law that is part of the children services and has money.

I've been working on getting a grant in order to get my AA and get into social services. (Since I haven't been able to get a job in my normal career). One thing I'm thinking after doing research is that a lot of the "rules" are in a very grey area where you need to use discernment. Some parents HAVE made mistakes and want to grow from them, some are just liars and thieves. It would be very hard to distinguish the two unless you are born with that gift from God Himself, IMO. The sad part is that there are people in social services who THINK they have that gift and they do NOT - or they just don't give a damn!

Another case where CPS not only dropped the ball, it appears they falsified records. I'm am feeling so fed up right now.

Dae’von Bailey 6YO-A dozen abuse calls made before his death - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

Oh SuziQ - this case is heartbreaking. I can hardly read in the thread, I just cry. I don't understand all this violence against these children. Poor Dae'von tried so hard to get help.

And Robert's case - this being the 2nd time for Robert's dad to endure such emotional heartbreak, and Robert's big brother, who needed a giant hug BEFORE any of this happened. It's heartwrenching.

I have been taking frequent breaks during the day because I just can't stick with all this pain for too long at a time. But I'm in constant prayer mode for these children and Robert's and Lindsey's families.

Kimster - I think this would be a good jury room/parking lot discussion. You are so right. Except I don't think most social workers start out not giving a darn. I think some of it is burn out, overload and stress from having to always be right, because if you make a mistake the results can be disasterous. You can be badgered for being "overzealous" and you can be badgered for not doing enough. Emotionally, I think being a social worker is quite draining.

That was the same question I was going to ask. That child should have been between 3-6 years old according to the dates of the marriage. Another hmmm?

There is a court case for Baby Boy Ehrlick birth year 2005 in Ada County but of course the case is sealed. I don't know if this has anything to do with either Daniel Ehrlick or Melissa Jenkins, but it is certainly possible that this was their child - given the lack of a first name, it seems plausible this could be an adoption. If she was married to Frank Sieber and got pregnant with Ehrlick's baby, that might have been what precipitated their divorce in early 2006. It's unclear how long she has known Ehrlick and when they started dating.

Maybe a long shot but the thought just crossed my mind so I thought I'd toss it out there.

Isn't there going to be another presser today at 12:00 for Robert.

Another thing that I'm wondering about: There is a court case from 2007 where Melissa Scott Jenkins and Raymond Russell Sohm are the defendants and the plaintiff is the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. The case has to do with child custody and child support. The case opened 2/26/07 and closed 3/10/09. Wouldn't that indicate she has at least one other child with the co-defendant??? I'm confused...

Isn't it almost 12:30 in Boise now? I looked at all the local news sites, and nothing.
Anybody find anything?

Did they not hold a press conference at noon?

I was hoping to hear some sort of an update today.

YOU HAVE GOT TO FREAKIN' BE KIDDING ME!!!!!! :furious: Plead down to a MISDEMEANOR?!?!?! WHY IN THE H_E_ Double Hockey sticks WOULD SOMEONE ALLOW THAT TO BE DONE?!?!?!? :banghead:

I am slowly but surely begining to loose faith in certain parts of the LE community. What good is arresting a child abuser if you are going to fine her less that what a month of sattelite TV will cost and give her less and a month of some kind of work release crap and then probation!!!! Infuriated is just the tip of the anger iceburg.... People who will WILLINGFULLY harm a child, especially an INFANT who is totally defenseless deserve some sort of long torturous incarceration.

 Ok, I think I have it out of my system now.

BBM

eeyorelrn, I share your frustration and outrage. BUT, it is not LE that lets these monsters off with a slap on the wrist. It is the judges and sentencing guidelines. Mostly the judges, tho.

LE goes out and arrests these monsters. LE does their job and the DA and judges let them go without enough punishment. So the DA and the judges are the ones I blame. In letting these monsters off lightly, the victim is victimized all over again and full justice is not done. The DA is responsible for Melissa's 'deal'. She paid very little consequences in her disgusting crime, and was free to do it all over again if she wanted to. (to another child she might have) Let's put the blame squarely where it belongs.

O/T: I have had company in from New York state until yesterday afternoon and am just now getting caught up here.

I agree with this--and so do many law enforcement officers. I have talked with many police officers regarding this topic. They often get frustrated and disgruntled about the plea deals that so many criminals are allowed to "cop to."

As one officer told me, "We arrest these scumbags--knowing full well the extent and horror of their crimes--only to have them back on the streets because the judicial system doesn't see fit to punish them properly. Soon, we find ourselves re-arresting these same scumbags for similar--or often, much worse--crimes. It is very frustrating."

I think that the entire judicial system needs to be re-worked.

Too many plea deals are allowed, even in light of incredibly damning evidence against the offender.

Too many violent criminals are given a slap on the hand and released back into the public arena only to re-offend, and usually with much more violence.

Too many victims never see proper justice doled out because of the way laws are interpreted, or because of a lackadaisical approach to punishment of offenders.

When someone is accused of a violent crime, and the evidence is available to back up those accusations, then those offenders should be locked up for a long time, and in some instances, forever.

No more early parole, no more time off for good behavior, no more plea deals.

I am just sick about Robert's disappearance. Did anyone ever find out just who saw Robert last? I also think Robert was gone long before he was reported missing. He was probably disposed of way before the 911 call was made.

The moment I heard of this case, I thought the boyfriend and/or the so-called mother had done something to Robert. THEN, I read all about their past crimes.

I also find it very disturbing that it was said that Robert liked to hide in small places. Was he afraid of them? Was this a behavior he had exhibited with his real Dad? Somehow I do not think so. Children sometimes can just sense evil in an adult.

I pray that Robert will be located today. Something has got to give.
