The sheriff's office said everything found at the scene suggests that the remains belong to Todd Hofflander, a man who was reported missing in September 2010after being last seen in the same location the remains were found.

Responding officers recovered photographs off of an SD card found in the backpack and later determined the card belonged to him.

The sheriff's office has notified Idaho County Coroner Cody Funke and the remains will be sent to the Ada County coroner for examination and DNA testing.

Coroner Confirms Remains of Missing Hiker

Remains that were found in the area of the Seven Devils and Bernard Creek area have been positively identified as Todd William Hofflander by the FBI using DNA analysis.

Todd William Hofflander were identified using DNA analysis, the Idaho County coroner said.

A hunter found the remains in April 2020 in the Bernard Creek area in west-central Idaho west of Riggins.

The hunter took a camera found with the remains and turned it over to authorities. It contained photos of Hofflander.
