Ideas for book title

  • #101
"Justice Buried in Boulder - The JonBenet Ramsey case."

"Under the Umbrella of Protection - How the Ramseys Escaped Justice"

Possible chapter titles:
"Conspiracy of Cowards" referring to Hunter & Co's abysmal lack of courage in pushing the case against the Ramseys forward.
"Evading Evidence: Lacy Looking The Other Way."

All great.

I have something of a problem, here.

On the one hand, I really don't want to have to rehash the entire case. After all, books like PMPT, ITRMI and DOI do a fine job of that. But I feel if I don't, the average person will lose out, and I don't want that. Worse, if I just give my take on it, which I plan on doing anyway, it could turn out to be a short book!

Oh, heck. I'll just write and see where it takes me. (Worked for Patsy! Oh, I am going to HELL for that crack! LOL)

In order to write this book, you have no choice but to rehash a good part of the case. This is a very worthwhile project.

Why not do a series of reference chapters using bullet format to restate:
1-Players
2-timeline
3-factual events
3-evidence, to include a copy of the ransom note, crime scene photos, autopsy report, etc
4-quotes
5-theories
6-POI's w/short version of details of why they were put on the list and why they were or were not removed

Then include your 'book' and written the way only our SD could! :)

Then, what you need is a theme for your book. Focus on the evidence, chapter by chapter. That way you don't need to give a full account of the entire crime. But, we all seem to love picking apart the evidence: Pineapple; garrot; ransom letter. Your final chapter can invite the readers to view several theories. But, you're the author of this book - these are just suggestions. Go for it!

Way ahead of ya! That's what I'm doing now!

But I think "conspiracy of Cowards, Creeps and Crooks" has a nice ring to it.
Brilliant idea for a chapter, Dave!

Just off the top of my head, some more ides for a title (or chapters):

- Victory! Saved By The Cowards - How the Ramseys Escaped Justice

- Judge Carnes' Cascade of Errors

- No Killer Out There - the Ramsey Intruder Myth

A chapter debunking Lou Smit's 'sophisticated knots/ 'complicated garrote'/'elaborate sexual device' nonsense could be called:

- Smit's Carnival of Knots

But here's the thing: my goal here is to get as many people as I can to read it. That means that it would have to grab the interest of people who don't follow this case, because they're the ones I'm worried might believe this RST nonsense.
I don't know how far you have already proceeded in writing the book, Dave, but just a thought:
Since you were once an IDI, how about writing the book as a first person narrative, taking the reader along with you on a journey during which the truth finally unfolded before your eyes?
That way, you could list all the usual myths fed to believers by the RST, and then as a second step debunk them by providing the facts which were revealed to you once you started doing your own research.

You can bet the house on those last two!

Oh, you can be SURE of that. He'll get what's coming and a whole lot more. So I hope the old man's cast-iron athletic cup still fits!

Well, I'm part way through chapter four. As for your narrative idea, that's what I'm doing!

LinasK, I'm sure you will find chapter four very interesting. I owe a lot of it to you.

Stopped By The Cowards works, too. Think any of the cowards would make the connection to the note?

That's what I'm hoping for!

The first chapter is done! Oh, boy. First blood is drawn.

Just please oh PLEASE...don't have it published only in Japanese! :)

Don't worry. One of my friends got published last year (nothing to do with this). If he can do it, I can do it!

rashomon, I second that idea. I hope SuperDave takes you advice. What a great hook, how the author went from the Intruder Theory to the Ramseys Did It.
I think this has happened to a lot of people throughout the years and for those who haven't changed their minds, this book would certainly bring about some enlightment. SuperDave I hope you decided on this idea.
Possible title - From Intruder to Mom & Dad; Why I changed my opinion on who killed Jonbenet.
