If Burke's voice really is on the tape of the 911 call, what is the worst possible interpretation for it?

If Burke's voice really is on the tape of the 911 call, what is the worst possible interpretation for it?

Well, there are two interpretations as I see it. One is that he heard all the commotion with his parents- he admitted to actually being awake when his parents thought he was asleep and told LE he heard loud talking and hurried walking around. He got out of bed and walked into the kitchen as they were making the call and heard his mother on the phone.
The WORST was that he was involved in JB's injury/death and his words "Please, what do I do?" may be ominous in that regard.

If the window was found open by JR, why would he close and latch the window?
It was cold outside and latching it would be a typical thing to do when shutting a window?

Finally, if, as he would claim years later, it was his “first impression that the kidnapper had gone through that window,” why would he not call everyone in the house downstairs to point out this vitally important discovery?
Some people think before reacting to their first impressions?

JR’s recollection of the window and the importance ascribed to it seems to increase over time.
If he took a moment to pause to think about the window, that may be the moment he remembered he broke it the summer before?

Is it another possible implication that they lied?

That is ALWAYS a possibility in this case.

On a related matter- I recall reading somewhere a while back some comments by JR admitting that BR had in fact, been awake at that time, but they felt it best to say he was asleep to leave him out of it. Does anyone else recall this?

I do. If memory serves, that was with their interview with the National Enquirer.

Didn't the National Enquirer just win some sort of a journalism prize?
Hey- the mainstream media prints fiction, too.

Yes, yes, I can see how they could win a journalism prize LOL.... Looks like a fine upstanding newspaper.

Wiki
"The National Enquirer (also commonly known as the Enquirer) is an American supermarket tabloid now published by American Media Inc (AMI). Founded in 1926, the tabloid has gone through a variety of changes over the years, and is currently well-known for exaggerating, as well as fabricating information in its articles focusing on celebrity news, gossip, and crime in order to sell its newspapers.

The Enquirer makes no secret of the fact that it will pay sources for tips, a practice generally frowned upon by the mainstream press. At least one prominent story, connected to the Elizabeth Smart case, had to be retracted after it was revealed that two informants had fabricated false information. The informants had been paid a large sum for the story.

In recent years it has sought to establish a reputation for reliable journalism and had some success, often scooping other media on the O.J. Simpson and Monica Lewinsky stories. However, the tabloid has struggled with declining circulation figures due to competition from glossy tabloid publications, which is why American Media now also owns former competitor, The Star.

As of 2010, The National Enquirer sells for $3.49 on Newsstands in the U.S. Subscription rates are $1.90 per issue for 52, and $2.40 per issue for 26."

Tell that to John and Elizabeth Edwards! (Oh, I just HAD to do that!)

Remember old William H. Hearst? Remember "yellow journalism" and the beginning of the Spanish American War? These south-bound ends of north-bound horses have been in the racket of molding public opinion for decades. Nothing new here, except the subject matter exploited and the targets of assassination.

Free press? Free to steal fortunes from "the truth" and defenseless pukes who didn't have the resources or the savvy to fight a decadent Goliath. The Ramseys, they discovered to their dismay, had both and more.

Quite so, Fang. Beats the alternative to a pulp, though.

Quite frankly, Fang, the Ramseys' approach to "fighting" scares me more than an out-of-control press does. Their way has been nothing but fear and threats.

I would hold their fannies to the flames if they published stories w/o proper cross-referencing. I would require the placement of a consumer warning sprawled across the heading.

The alternatives do not necessarily equal state-controlled, pinko, commie rags or other manufactured folly.

Integrity was the first to leave the party.

Let them camp out on your doorstep, your office, your favorite restaurant, the garbage dump, 24/7, and pay, bribe others to confirm lies about you, then tell us you prefer their tactics.

Well, that's the alternative I was thinking of. But if you find my thinking too dichotomous, please feel free to enlighten me. Keep in mind that I've been reading 1984, too.

I didn't say I did. I just prefer a free press as opposed what some (like the Rs) have in mind.

Like what?

If my daughter was found as Joni was, and the cops implicated I was involved, I would not be able to restrain my rage.

I agree.

Knowing that my rage might not further JBR's interest, I might instead circumvent LE, hire my own investigators, place ads in the newspaper, and go on national TV.

Hmmm.

You are a better man than me. More like JR, perhaps?

That kind of rage can eat you away. Either you go bananas and take a gun and try to kill 'em all, OR you get your head straight and see it for what it is, and learn to live with it.
