I totally agree....they would have gladly have given them permission to question Burke....IF they had of been innocent. ONLY GUILTY parents of a murdered child, objects to and whines about the older sibling...(who was sleeping (supposedly) down the hall from his kidnapped sister)...being interrogated. HEAVEN FORBID the police question HIM....geesh, he might actually have seen or heard something. IMO..that's exactly what they were afraid of....therefore, they didn't want him questioned, or they would have done it themselves...and would have given the police, and whomever else wanted to....permission to question Burke.
