There has always been so much negative talk about JonBenet's pagent involvement but I was wondering what things would have been like if she had not been in them but still was murdered on Dec 26th. Would this case hold as much facination with so many if there weren't all the video clips for us to see and hear her perform? She was a beautiful child, but so are many others who are killed every year. In a round about way is it because of the pagents where she was able to shine that so many now keep fighting for justice for her? Would so many still remember her name if she had just been the little brown haired girl she would have been otherwise?

The replay of those little pageant clips playing over and over I believe certainly did have an impact on everyone. It was sort of like someone murdering Shirley Temple. She was so cute and animated in that little cowgirl costume. Don't get me wrong, I am not an advocate of child beauty pageants, I'm just saying that she was really cute and it broke everyone's heart to hear of her fate.

I also believe her unusual name played a role. Whoever heard of such an unusual name? Can you imagine going up to her stroller when she was a baby and asking what her name is and they answer, "Jonbenet!" I would probably have a look on my face like, "Say what?"

Yes, I would! Although she was further exploited by the make-up, hair dyeing, and pageants with all the sexy costumes and moves, JB was still a little girl who was sexually abused. Brunettes are just as valuable and beautiful! JB needs people to seek justice for her and stand out against sexual abuse since she can no longer do that.

The case would be as sad, and as puzzling, but without the photos, it wouldn't have become a nationwide case I'd bet.

I was originally drawn to this case because I felt terrible that a little girl had been killed on Christmas night, the pinnacle of all holidays for children, and in her own house, where she should have been safest. Her unusual name made the case more memorable, but when the images of her in those child beauty pageants hit the media, her fate was sealed as the poster child for murdered children.

I think the pageants had a big role in making JonBenet's case so infamous, but I think there were several other factors as well - such as Patsy being who she was.

I agree it was like the murder of a little Shirley Temple.

She was not only beautiful, but talented and with acting
lessons you could see her destined to become a movie star.

Just imagine she could have told the world about how her
Mother had been Miss West Virginia. She could have
brought honor to the memory of her Mother.

I think the Christmas night is fascinating but finiding the body in the basement by her father added to it. But I truly think it was the over-the-top costumes, hair, makeup, paid coaching, and professional portfolio that made it truly unforgettable. Maybe if the pageants hadn't been so quick to sell pics and videos of their competitions..who knows. Then add wealthy parents who buy the best legal talent right away. It just doesn't made it all the stranger, IMO.
