Here's the thing- she HAD been potty trained by age 3. She REGRESSED to wetting and soiling. One of the "red flags" when trying to determining whether a child has been sexually abused.

That is completely normal. I know many kids that have regressed and had trouble when they are getting older. It is not a red flag. It is something to consider but It is not proof positive of abuse.

BBM:
NOPE! Not normal to regress to wetting and soiling day and night until age six, particularly with brother having same issues.

yes it is .. Ask kindergarten teachers how many kids have accidents.
This is a fact. A lot of kids regress at some point.

http://www.healthychildren.org/Engl...000&nfstatusdescription=ERROR:+No+local+token

A whole list of reasons kids regress including having a sick parent.

Common causes of regression in young children include:

Change in the child-care routine—for example, a new sitter, or starting a child-care or preschool program
The mother’s pregnancy or the birth of a new sibling
A major illness on the part of the child or a family member
A recent death
Marital conflict or parents’ divorce
An upcoming or recent move to a new house

There are entire sites dedicated to potty training regression.

Adults sometimes have accidents too. Kindergartners also forget while they are playing or try to hold it because they don't want to miss anything.

It is not normal or common to wet the bed on a regular basis almost every night at age six nor to defecate on oneself at that age or wear pullups, particularly when a child has already been potty trained. The teachers where I live make it pretty plain that when the child reaches kindergarten age they should be potty trained, know how to tie their shoes and how to feed themselves.

It is normal for many kids.. I know children that wet the bed well into 10 years old. Also that have bowel accidents.. There is no normal here. Some kids have issues for a long time and some don't. Some have bowel issues and some don't.

But there is no sweeping commonality here.

It is more than possible.

"Do you know a child six-years-old or older who wets the bed at night?
You are not alone…
5 to 7 million children in the U.S. ages six and over wet their beds at night."

Well of course it is possible!!!!! However, the fact that some children have toilet issues ,defecating and wetting their pants and beds on a regular basis day and night at age six does not make it normal. Throw in a nine-year-old brother that has similar issues and you have a pattern that indicates something abnormal going in.

It can be normal for many kids.. And throwing in the brother, Although the only place I saw it mentioned is here and in no other official document. It could mean they had anatomical issues or even stomach issues from time to time, Many kids have bathroom issues.

It is nothing more than normal for them.

No matter how many times you say abnormal behavior is normal, it won't make it so. <modsnip>

No matter how many times you say abnormal behavior is normal, it won't make it so. I won't play silly word games. Back on ignore.
"and just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water.........."

The truth is that many children have potty issues well about the normal potty training age and that it is NORMAL for them.

If you don't want to believe that it is your choice. But I know kids who have had bathroom issues well past 6.

It is not a word game. It is these kids reality.. Do some searching.. It is more common than you think .

In 2013 there were 50 million children over the age of six living in the United States (http://www.childstats.gov/americaschildren/tables/pop1.asp).

Of the the 5-7 million in your statement, how many are female (it makes a difference since, statistically, boys more frequently suffer enuresis that do female children)?

Of those females, how many have enuresis due to psychological factors, particularly those caused by various forms of abuse?

The hallmark of symptoms indicating sexual abuse in children, male and female, is regression in bladder and bowel habits.

Make of it what you will. It looks like commonality to me, and in JonBenet's case there were additional signs alongside the regression.

Anything can be painted with a slant. Looking at it as a normal issue that kids have.. All those 7 million kids are not being abused, or that would be part of the sentence.

Many normal kids have bathroom problems.

Many kids wet the bed well into 8 9 even 10..

That is just fact.

It has nothing to do with abuse.

Add in the experts' conclusion about chronic sexual abuse; add in the dictionary pointing to the word incest; add in the flirty behavior of JB---to the regression. Throw in the fact that the victim abuse advisor to BPD, after reviewing JB's bedroom and the underwear drawers, had to redact her chapter on this case, in order not to be sued for her conclusions.

I don't know about anyone else here, but when my child broke his arm, I didn't call the plumber, the gardener, or the furnace repairman, I called the expert - a doctor who could diagnose the injury and set the arm. Experts do disagree, but when there are a good proportion of them who reach the same conclusions, I listen. moo

Soiling which is not caused by a physical illness or disability is called encopresis.

It even has a name.

"Children with encopresis may have other problems, such as short attention span, low frustration tolerance, hyperactivity and poor coordination. Occasionally, the problem with soiling starts with a stressful change in the child's life, such as the birth of a sibling, separation/divorce of parents, family problems, or a move to a new home or school. Encopresis is more common in boys than in girls."

If I remember, it is PR herself that was talking about JB being flirty.

She was not using that in any sexual way.. just that she thought JB was too friendly too trusting.. And that article?? Really? The Daily Beast. I don't believe she even said it if that is the only source.

The Daily Beast is Newsweek Magazine's website. Are they not a credible source? Newsweek Magazine makes up fake interviews?
