Can't wait to hear the "real" story.

I care not. I refuse to give her or him anymore attention, the lying liars.
I was most interested in her legal strategy for the appeal. She does discuss it and basically it is just that they found him Not Guilty on the last count. So she says that is inconsistent. But that can be easily explained as one juror already did recently.

I like that he held on to his subway sandwich during the attack. I guess he didn’t need his hands to fight back:rolleyes:

Jussie Smollett's Subway sandwich was key to case, ex-Chicago police superintendent says

"This guy had the sandwich in his hand, never been touched. So that was a real tip and a clue to us that something was amiss."

"He comes back and gets attacked in a hate crime, supposed hate crime, and during all this scuffle – they poured bleach on him and all of this – when he got up and went into his apartment building he still had that Subway sandwich with him. That doesn’t happen."

I wonder if he ever ate it.

His best bet is probably the Dallas gambit. It was all a bad dream and then he woke up and Bobby Ewing was in his shower.

The sole Black member of a jury that convicted Jussie Smollett of lying to police about an alleged attack he faced in 2019 said the actor's story about the incident just didn't make sense. Juror Andre Hope was particularly confused by the fact that he kept a noose, which was allegedly used in the attack, around his neck to show police.

"As an African American person, I'm not putting that noose back on at all," Hope said.

"Two o'clock in the morning. Cold outside. When you just use your common sense as what's there, yeah it just, it didn't add up," Hope said.

However, he said he wished there were more Black people on the jury.

"Because how can we say that this is a jury of your peers when there's only one African American?" Hope said. "And there were plenty there, so you could've gotten two, three four. African Americans can handle the truth, too. And we can give an impartial judgement on a case."

[snip]

"I still have not figured out a motive for why he did, why this had to even happen," Hope said. "He was a star."

Do we know if there were any Jewish people on the jury???

We all start with two parents, one of Smollett's is African-American and the other is Jewish. How should both parts be represented in this group of peers?

Potential pitfalls here -- if I'm on trial, can I insist that all the jurors descend from Cuneeda, King of Wales?

My kids will be very tricky, King of Wales on my side, Mayflower descendants on the other. Of course another Laughing line arrived in chains on a British prison ship, how do we select for that one?

Jurors AFAIK are selected from lists of registered voters. Register, vote, and be ready when that juror pool letter arrives for you!

Special prosecutor calls for release of full report on Jussie Smollett investigation

Special prosecutor calls for release of full report on Jussie Smollett investigation

A hearing is set for Monday in front of Toomin, who appointed Webb to lead the Smollett investigation, which resulted in a new, six-count indictment against the actor and a report that found Foxx’s office abused its prosecutorial discretion in dropping the case and that Foxx and other top deputies made false statements to the public about how it was handled.

“I filed this motion today because now that the Smollett trial ended with a conviction, the assignment given to my special prosecutor’s office by Judge Michael Toomin are almost complete,” Webb told the Chicago Sun-Times.

“I am in possession of a 60-page detailed evidence report that supports the factual conclusions that I publicly released to the public. Since the Smollett trial is final, I believe the public is entitled to see my 60-page evidence report.”

I would like to see that.

@Laughing bbm sbm Cuneeda, King of Wales?
I thought your Tiffy the Muppet signature image looked familiar. Now, skimming wiki, I see why: "Cunedda ap Edern. King of Gwynedd. Reign c. 450–460."

Cunedda - Wikipedia
Family resemblance, still strong a millennium & six centuries later. j/k.;):D
Every day I learn something on Websleuths, but rarely about Welsh royalty.

Report Details ‘Failure' in Handling of 1st Jussie Smollett Case by Kim Foxx's Office

"In a 68-page report made public Monday, special prosecutor Dan Webb detailed multiple instances of false public statements about the case by State's Attorney Kim Foxx and others in her office in 2019, when they first prosecuted Smollett for staging the fake attack then abruptly dropped the charges against him weeks later. Some of the office's actions may be violations of legal ethics, Webb concluded. He said they did nothing criminal."

“The fact that such a significant mischaracterization could be asserted without sufficient vetting, repeated by figureheads of the (Cook County State's Attorney's Office) and then never corrected or clarified — particularly in a case the (office) knows has captured the public attention — is unacceptable for an office that must be transparent and maintain public confidence,” Webb's report states.

Webb also found that Foxx improperly changed her public position about the strength of the evidence against Smollett. After calling the case against him “strong,” she wrote in a Chicago Tribune editorial shortly after the charges were dropped that securing a conviction was “uncertain.” That pivot was “false and misleading,” Webb concluded.

Foxx's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the report. "

JMO, but faking a hate crime should have enhanced penalties, just like a hate crime.

Agree. It's so much worse than faking being on a rowing team or whatever it was that they did to get her into college. The ripple effect is so much broader and the crime is just so much more despicable overall.
