I totally agree. Everyone is guilty
DCPS, LE, Hospitals, Cities, State, and Federal government's are structured with Check and Balance systems. No one agency can watch these parents 24/7, it takes a village.
Every Dept and government agency failed. They all had supervisors, training in child abuse and how to document.
The neighbors, who were the eyes and ears failed. Yes, it is just plain human decency to report the horrific thing they are now telling the media.
And it will happen again tomorrow and the next day and the next ......
Systems fail
We return kids to drug abusive parents
The drug users have the upper hand. They get free needles, free Narcan, SSI each month, free rehab, free medical care. Millions in long term Methadone and Suboxone, inpatient, outpatient care, food stamps, free housing, all the counseling money can buy.
They cost the federal, state and local governments millions each years, with few positives outcomes.
AND WE LET THEM KEEP THEIR KIDS, LEGALLY.
JMO. I'm ready for change and it starts will taking the above resources and incarcerating these folks, when they break the law. The people should NOT be an exception to society. If you or I break the law we are required to pay files or serve jail time. Should I speak up and say, hey I'm addicted I'm the exception, I'm special, feel sorry for me its hard to get clean, I need help, yes to the tune of 40 or 50 thousand dollars per person. per year and I'm still not going to get over my addiction, I just can't it's to hard. Then we need to protect society from their destruction, murder, stealing, physical and mental abuse and most of all the tax dollars, that could be used for schools, college scholarships...you know stuff that makes the world a better place.
This is what we have become as a county and as society. Few recover, they don't have to, life has more free stuff if they don't.
I believe in helping everyone, but where do we draw the line. One year, five, 10...,when they steal for the 10th time, beat the kids for the 5th time, NO we only stop when they murder someone, and sometimes not then. We can not supervise these folks 24/7 with just DCPS and most require 24/7 supervision, they kill in the blink of an eye.
I'm just sick at the number of kids dying yearly and the government support allowing.
