Charges are accusations, presumed innocent until proven guilty. Not allowed to discuss evidence should there be a trial in the case.

Gruesom murder, crime of opportunity. He failed to appear for a scheduled interview with LE. Tracked his whereabouts - he was looking for temporary work at the time of arrest.

Search warrants were issued for search of his hotel room and DeKalb residence.

Bail set at 5 million dollars

Crime of opportunity, she walked to park, he was in park and found her. No reason to believe there are other victims.

Won't comment on criminal history.

Death Penalty is a serious endeavor

Long time resident of DeKalb - LE have many interactions with him at residence at 507 Taylor - unemployed.

He definitely looks creepy....although I guess if I was arrested out of state and brought back and interrogated, then I would probably look like he!! too.

  • #632
Curl didn't show up for interview & LE found out he went to Mexico.

asking for folks to continue to call in w/ tips-- especially any info on Prairie Park

bail set @ $5M

not aware of any relationship - crime of opportunity....they were in secluded area...Toni was in park, Curl was in park & he found her.

WOW 5 million bail is more than Drew Peterson!

IIRC, when listening to BBM am 780 chicago LE found the Perp/ traced the perp two days after the initial finds on the 16th so they knew of him on the 18th- which I assume is why they are asking for info until the 18th.

sorry OT to the presser, trying to remember what I heard on AM radio earlier.

Feithen said Curl failed to show up to scheduled interview Monday. Curl had been interviewed one time prior to that.

Ferrell (SAO):
Don't anticipate any further arrests or add'l charges.

  • #636
I can't help but wonder if, as a long time DeKalb resident, he may have been involved in case of the other guy, Brad Olson, who disappeared a couple of years ago from the same vicinity and has never been found.

  • #637
I presume that LE weren't concerned for local's safety because they knew he fleed to Mexico.

  • #638
Feithen said Curl didn't call LE to report a fire

Is this the guy? William Curl? They ended the presser with this picture.
Nevermind, it's not static. This will teach me not to jump to conclusions.
As sad is this is I'm glad the crime was not committed by a fellow student/friend.
I was leaning in the direction that that was the case.
