GUILTY IL - Antinette 'Toni' Keller, 18, DeKalb, NIU Student, 14 October 2010

If I'm not mistaken, many states can charge you with several counts of felonious murder for the same crime. This is evidenced in the recent Petit murder trial where the two perps were charged with killing a mother and her two daughters. Sexual assault while committing murder and setting fire to cover murder are two ways that additional murder charges are brought forth for the killing of one person.

I remember the multiple murder charges being discussed in association with the Farmville killings in Virginia as well. He killed four people but was charged with a higher number. The last I heard, he took a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. Anyway - talk about cold blooded killers - ugh!

Here's the link that spells out the charges which I'll type in part below -
http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2010...ng-niu-student-antinette-toni-keller/a6w5f2u/

The five First-degree murder charges are all Class M felonies (the highest category that is punishable by "20 years to life or death" and is not probationable.) http://www.icjia.state.il.us/public/pdf/tiupdate/felony.pdf

They read in part,

Count one: ". . . with the intent to kill, by performing acts . . ."

Count two: ". . . with the intent to cause great bodily harm by knowingly performing the acts . . ."

Count three: ". . . 'knowing that such act created a strong probability of death or great bodily harm to Antinette Keller' . . ."

Count four: ". . . while 'committing a forcible felony criminal sexual assault,' an act that led to her death . . ."

Count five: ". . .while 'committing a forcible felony, arson,' an act that caused her death . . ."

So, we can tell that all of the charges are related to the murder of AK and not any other crime. Until LE finishes their investigation, they cannot be certain of the exact charges yet whatever they are, it is known that the perp's acts led to AK's death.

Thank you Woe.be.gone for clearly laying out the possible charges for us. I always appreciate those who take the time to do such things for us WSers. :)

There must be a reason why he would head there of all places. Of course he may have only gotten that far enroute to somewhere else that is if he even knew where he was going. I tried to match him to a place of birth but the search sites all ask you to join. Oh and figure the odds, there's like a zillion William Curls in the world, either dead or alive. They do seem to be grouped in a few states - TX, IN, OH, CA - to name a few. I wish I knew the ins and outs of searching better.

He lists as having lived at several addresses in DeKalb County. DeKalb and Malta are the two places that come up. Maybe he has relatives in Louisiana, but I can't get anything of importance on this guy. Certainly nothing that would indicate he is a psychopathic murderer to the Nth degree.

I bet Toni fought him tooth and nail and he became enraged....there has got to be more to this guy than being in DeKalb and finding the opportunity to sexually assault and burn (almost beyond identification) a petite 18yo.

Three witnesses, three versions of Aug. 7, 2000, at 906 Kimberly Drive.

Prosecution witnesses FL, William Curl and NN testified Monday at the trial of alleged drive-by shooter Zachary Stohr and offered jurors a conflicting view of the moments surrounding the shooting.

Under questioning by assistant state's attorney Joe Pedersen, Lopez, the alleged target of the attack, said he was upset about Stohr dating his 15-year-old sister....

Someone inquired if NIU offers a forensics program. I got off on a tangent at the NIU site and was looking to see if some of the professors I had are still teaching and I ran across this article (through the Communications Dept.:waitasec:).

Pg. 2 and 3 especially, http://www.bios.niu.edu/news_events/biosnews05.pdf

Interesting.

Vresia

Thanks for the info. To stay within TOSS here at WS you will want to ****star out either first or last name of the sister. She is considered an innocent victim in this horrible crime. Thanks!

Thank you for telling me this Eyes !

My time to edit has passed. What do I do ?

Not sure who the mod is tonight, I don't see Cubby around. What I would do is hit the alert in the upper right hand corner and put down in the pop up box that you would like a mod to edit out an innocent name that was accidently put on the thread. They will be happy to help you. Thanks for getting it corrected. moo mho

wow. curl has a son. somehow i just didn't expect that.

i'm in the agreement with others that think this was his first major crime. i'm so thankful they caught him though - cause i definitely don't think it would have been his last. jmo

http://www.wifr.com/home/headlines/...IU_Student_Death_Investigation_106354379.html

Took this from your link:

"He was always talkative - sat around with his son here. It seemed like he was a great dad - loved his kid," Bushman said.

Golden Years Plaza is a public housing building for the elderly and disabled.
*snip*

His history doesn't lend itself to him being a murderous psychopath does it? He has a son and thought to be a good dad. What the heck happened out there. This was random and could have been any of the girls walking around that park. How does one make sense of such a senseless and brutal loss of a like? moo

According to NBC Chicago News tonight, he will be in court again Monday. Cousin Mary said the family did not attend today's court hearing because they just couldn't stand listening to the details. I think LE have done a great job in getting this guy behind bars. moo

:blowkiss: for the family

Wow, this guy sure isn't getting the reaction that I expected if they arrested someone. Wonder why that is?

To me, if guilty, he is a vicious , demented, evil, murderer same as anyone else who did this.

So what if he was living with his mother, doesn't have a record or is good to his son?

Does it have something to do with how he looks? Is that why it's so hard to think he could be a bad guy?

No one's saying he's not a bad guy...just not worthy of any attention. He's not someone that's going to keep psychologists or profilers up at night studying.

He might be good to his son, but his son is not an 18-year-old coed alone in a park.

I guess I am somewhat relieved that he was not another registered sex offender let loose by some flaw in the system like John Gardner...but that is about all I can say as far as being relieved about anything except that, thank God, he is caught now...
