GUILTY IL - Antinette 'Toni' Keller, 18, DeKalb, NIU Student, 14 October 2010

Montana - I agree that Curl is all of the things you described. I think he his a monster. I was just surprised that he had a son, who by one account, he spends time with. It didn't fit with the picture of the loner that I had in my head. I had theorized that he didn't have any relationships with anyone. It surprised me to learn he had a child. I am wondering now, if the MLC listed in a prior post might be an ex-wife. Although I am betting that he doesn't have a long history of past sexual assault offenses - I would not be surprised to find that he might have some domestic violence offenses on his record. I hope they are keeping a close eye on him in jail...he seems to me like the type who might try to commit suicide in his cell. And I don't say that out of concern for his well being.

I agree he's a monster who should be locked away forever.....but I think the shock is that there is no serious prior offense. I know he has a felony on his record, but that had nothing to do with THIS type of crime and THIS type of violence. It's just shocking how personal and how terrible this crime is given the fact that he didn't know her and hadn't had any other violent patterns in his past.
This makes me wonder if there aren't other rape victims out there......if there IS a history and a pattern, but LE just never connected him to those crimes.

It is very surprising that Curl does not appear to have any prior arrest record relating to crimes like the ones he's now being charged with. I don't mean to diminish the significance of forcible felony criminal sexual assault, but what bothers me more is that he went to such great extreme to dispose of Toni's body. Sadly, there are a lot of rapists in jail already. Few violent murderers are arsonists, however. I work for a cause and origin fire investigation firm, and have a very difficult time believing that this was the first or only time he experimented with fire. I can't help but wonder if maybe the felony criminal damage to property conviction involved flames, too?

I agree, and I will add, just because he doesn't have priors on record doesn't mean there is no history with this guy. It only means he wasn't caught or perhaps wasn't charged. It is highly possibly he has raped before and the victim did not press charges or did not report the crime. It is also very possible he guy got off easy with his priors and charges were dropped.

No way do I believe a crime as heinious as the one commited against Toni was the perps first. No one progresses from nothing to something this heinious as their first, it simply doesn't happen.

One possibility is that any previous crimes were committed as a juvenile and his record was closed when he became 18 [age of majority in IL]. Another possibility is that he had a great lawyer and had his record expunged.

wow. curl has a son. somehow i just didn't expect that.

i'm in the agreement with others that think this was his first major crime. i'm so thankful they caught him though - cause i definitely don't think it would have been his last. jmo

Yesterday when I read in a different article that he 'sat around with his son', I thought it was the neighbor saying that he and his son sat around talking to WBC. But this article goes on to say that he seemed like a good parent so I guess it is WBC's son they were referring too. I wonder how old the son is. I'm surprised he has a son too. Are we sure it's not the sister's son? Also, I'm wondering who all lives at the Taylor street address. Is Billy the person who qualified for the apartment, his mother or his sister? I ask this because people with mental handicaps often qualify for this type of housing and may be collecting social security.

Not sure who the mod is tonight, I don't see Cubby around. What I would do is hit the alert in the upper right hand corner and put down in the pop up box that you would like a mod to edit out an innocent name that was accidently put on the thread. They will be happy to help you. Thanks for getting it corrected. moo mho

Innocent in this case but I couldn't help but notice that she seems to have more of a record than he does! Also, is it possible she is his wife? And that they have a son?

Were you around for the Sandra Cantu case? It was easily as gruesome as this one (and more so when you take in the age of the victim), and the perp was a female without a violent record (but a history of acting out).

Wow, this guy sure isn't getting the reaction that I expected if they arrested someone. Wonder why that is?

To me, if guilty, he is a vicious , demented, evil, murderer same as anyone else who did this.

So what if he was living with his mother, doesn't have a record or is good to his son?

Does it have something to do with how he looks? Is that why it's so hard to think he could be a bad guy?

No one's saying he's not a bad guy...just not worthy of any attention. He's not someone that's going to keep psychologists or profilers up at night studying.

He might be good to his son, but his son is not an 18-year-old coed alone in a park.

When I first saw WBC's picture I thought he looked ummm kind of sappy. I've watched enough crime shows to know you can't judge a person by the way they look. I even felt a little offended for homeless people (even though I know bad ones exist) when people were speculating that the killer was probably some homeless guy. Just because someone is homeless doesn't mean they are capable of a crime like this one.

I wonder how old and where the son is? Is he seventeen or seven? :waitasec:

I've had the thought that someone might leave prior to their second interview with LE because they know something that they don't want to reveal but it doesn't 100 percent prove that they committed the crime. Considering LE has evidence that we don't have, I'll have to trust them. But before I see the evidence they have, I can't help but wonder if WBC could be covering for someone else for some crazy reason. He may have seen something or know something he doesn't want to tell. I'm dying to know what evidence LE has to directly link him to the crime. They are still asking for people to come forward if they remember seeing anything unusual in the park between October 14-18. :waitasec:

You're absolutely right- she may well be the wife; I bet she is. Thank you for pointing that out.

Upthread, there is a news link about the fact that LE has 'enough circumstantial evidence' to tie WBC to the crime. I'm hoping this is true!!

After messing around a little, I was able to access 2004CM000555. Am I right that we can't tell anything about the case other than it's still open? 2004 must be the year the CM was committed. Are the other two people listed when you pull up that case ID number involved in that same case even though they are from different counties?

Why does a case remain open for six years? :waitasec:

Yes and they said that they wouldn't charge him if they didn't think they had enough evidence. I'm just wondering what it is (ie, something they found in his home, hotel room, mother's car, witness from park, his cell records, etc.) that makes them know they can throw five counts of murder at him.

LE also said 'if this goes to trial' which makes me wonder if he has confessed. Did he go alone to Mexico? If so, he didn't stay very long.

I wouldn't say Melissa Huckaby was just 'acting out', I think it was far worse than that.

Another child who had been in her care was brought to the hospital by mom. The girl was groggy and couldn't stay awake after being cared for by Melissa. The hopsital found drugs in her system and unfortuntely, LE failed to pursue the report.

Another time, Melissa gave drugs to a guy she was dating, he fell asleep at the wheel at a drive thru. Seems she was experimenting with drugs to see what dose would do the trick for her. These are only the ones I've read about, could be way more. moo mho

On Dr. Robert Hare's spectrum of psychopathy, Melissa Huckaby is way up there. She escaped being caught! moo mho

The only thing I know for sure right now is that we can't sleuth the sister!!! She hasn't been connected to the crime, and trust me, it is against TOS to sleuth innocent victims, especially family members. Interesting as it might be to do so, I think it's best we drop it! :) Let's let our mods enjoy their Sunday. moo mho

  • #777
Thanks eye's. no we can not sleuth the sister or anyone who is not tied to the case.

Also, no sleuthing minors, so if Curls child is a minor the child is off limits.

Keep it about theories, and anyone who has been named in MSM (main stream media) when it comes to Toni's case.

ETA: If anyone has questions, our TOS and 'threadiquette' is in the sticky area atop the main area of this forum. -or- you can always contact a mod. Forum leaders are listed at the bottom of the main thread area and the main forum area at the bottom of the page.

Let's keep working towards justice for Toni. :praying:

I wonder if they found something in Toni's camera to link Curl to the crime? LE hasn't confirmed that this is Toni, so perhaps there was something in the car (a scarf, etc..) that connects the two.

  • #779
Does anyone know what time his court appearance is today?

  • #780
Curl's court appearance is supposed to be at 8:45 am. Central time (starting about 15 minutes from now.)
I've read somewhere that Toni's camera was also burned, so I'm doubting they could get photos off of it.
