Cubby, I looked at the link of common Websleuths acronyms, and MSM wasn't listed...I'm guessing it's Main Stream Media? As far as I know, you're correct about nothing having appeared about Curl's mental health through them, but earlier in this thread someone clarified that the senior housing apartment complex he lived in also accepted low-income residents on disability. (It was in a discussion about whether he was living with his mother, because clearly he's not elderly.) I also remember someone saying they talked to a nurse who used to visit him monthly there...

Yes, MSM is main stream media. He may be on disability.. who knows... for now though it is still considered speculation because it hasn't been posted in MSM (and it probably won't due to hippa)

I believe the history of Golden Years Plaza was that it was originally intended as housing for elderly individuals and couples (my grandmother lived there at that time) and down the road included individuals with disabilities. Today it is simply defined as low-income housing. From the Housing Authority of DeKalb County website:

Golden Years Plaza was first occupied in the fall of 1970. Golden Years Plaza consists of 150 one-bedroom apartments in a 16-story building. Golden Years Plaza was constructed as housing for elderly individuals and couples. Today individuals, and couples, who meet the income limits established for a specific family size, occupy Golden Years Plaza.

Cubby- I'm guessing that highway the letter refers to is Lincoln Highway/Rte. 23. Not a real highway but it definately is the busiest road in the county other than the interstate I would imagine.

I would bet money that NIU used that specific terminology on purpose to create a mental image of a barricade or boundary for the intended recipents of the letter (the parents of the students)

Prairie Park is truly separated from the college. There is an arboretum and a lagoon on campus that would be much easier (and safer) to get to. The major highway is a 4 lane road -- Lincoln Highway -- Route 38. To get to Prairie Park, you would have to walk behind some stores and a rough area to cross railroad tracks or along another busy (for DeKalb) road, Annie Glidden -- I'm not sure, but there may not be a sidewalk along Annie Glidden. I have never thought of Prairie Park as being a "campus" area.

Curl's court appearance is supposed to be at 8:45 am. Central time (starting about 15 minutes from now.)
I've read somewhere that Toni's camera was also burned, so I'm doubting they could get photos off of it.

A camera has a small memory card in it...which holds the pictures.

The camera that Toni had was not a small point and shoot, but a larger camera. It was a Canon, quite similar to a larger Kodak P850, or Nikon D40 for example.

This camera would have been even more difficult to destroy to the point of destroying the memory card. The memory card is quite small, about a square inch. Cameras have been thrown out of cars in car crashes, off of cliffs, run over by trucks... and still had the memory card completely intact. I think there is a very good chance they were able to get pictures from it.

It says he "damaged" her camera, not that he "destroyed" it. I would think that if it burned enough to fry/melt the memory card, that it would have totally destroyed the camera.

*Though, accuracy is in question because I am not sure how they came up with $150 for her phone and camera... that's not likely to be a $150 camera... the comparable Kodak is $280 and the Nikon $500... but I am a Nikon girl, so I won't claim to be an expert on Canons. It is possible there is one that is that inexpensive now. :innocent:

When I went looking for info about Crystal's murder I found a thread about her here on WS. There are just a few posts and nothing new since Nov. 7. I posted what I found (something about the boyfriend taking an overdose that he was brought to a hospital for) but found nothing new about the details of the investigation.

The railroad runs near the two towns either going northeast or southwest depending where you board/hitch the train. AK went missing October 14 and we know that for a fact. CT was last seen October 12 but there are unconfirmed reports that she was seen beyond that date. She was reported missing on October 22. I can't find confirmation that she was seen after October 12th. Also I can't find any info about her autopsy which would help pinpoint tod since it could have been Oct. 12 or beyond. They'd be able to decifer a week or two difference for tod wouldn't they? October 12 versus October 16 would be tougher I would think. How close can they pinpoint tod when someone isn't found right away? She wasn't found until November 4th.

It is curious about the two bodies, their proximity to railroad tracks and the brutal way the bodies were handled by the murderers. I wonder what information the authorities have at either end that outrule the two deaths aren't connected. It's possible. Also when will the Alton investigation reveal information about the leads they claim to have or if they are still working on them? As far as I can tell no one has been arrested todate.

This is the most specific information we've heard to support the reason why charges were brought against WPC other than that we know he ditched out of state prior to his second interview. If he told authorities the detail about his shoes, and they find them and can link them back to his DNA and Toni's, that would be concrete evidence that he committed the crime (stating the obvious). :crazy: If he told them about the shoes, he must have given a full confession. :waitasec: Yet, didn't he plead 'not guilty'?

It's good to hear that concrete evidence is being collected. I would hate for some guy to be blamed because he has a mental illness. Finding the shoes would seal the deal imo.

Just one question though, why wouldn't they have begun looking for the shoes immediately instead of waiting while more garbage was being dumped every day?

The sample will be taken via a swab of Curl's cheek. Court documents indicate defense attorneys agreed to allow the test.

Curl, who appeared in court via video briefly today, has been charged with criminal sexual assault, murder and arson. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Dec 9.

Not yet. They can only be officially identified via DNA and due to the state of the remains I imagine it will be difficult to obtain dna. I expect an official id to take several more months.

Regarding BBM ~

Thank you for pointing out that Curl has not yet plead. I'm afraid I mixed this case up with another case (Kustock) or I'm confusing
one being charged with a crime versus what the accused pleas and/or, what's supposed to be the last step, the verdict.

At times, it seems like we're working backwards. In order to arrest someone LE must have a pretty solid idea that the person committed the crime thus are thought to be guilty but then there is the trial. As we discuss these cases, I want to be careful to remember that an accused does get a trial prior to a solid verdict being rendered.
