GUILTY IL - Chicago, Female body in cardboard box, Jan'07 - Marlaina Reed

Dee, I posted a link (#18) to an interview with the Prairie Du Chen police chief where he mentioned she had a friend in Illinois (oops, not specifically Chicago, sorry about that) that had been interviewed as part of the investigation. I thought that was interesting considering she was found in Chicago. Illinois is a big place though. I wish I hadn't said Chicago way up there in my other comment. :blushing:

I just emailed the Chief the AMW link to the Chicago Jane Doe. He may be able to rule it out right away and then we can focus on other possibilities. Surely he will know if she wore braces and a knee brace! **praying**

I haven't heard from the myspace owners either. I figure it's probably hard to sign in to that site over the holidays. Poor things.

Good work on the clothes!! What if she was foreign and nobody is looking for her here in the States?

WE CAN RULE OUT SHANNON FISCHER. Chief King's response:

Thanks very much. We’ve been in contact with CPD and this was not our missing girl.

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks Dee for all the info! And thank you every one for forwarding info and contacting people and letting us know of the replies you got!

>>> What if she was foreign and nobody is looking for her here in the States?
It's always a possibility, right?

I spoke to my husband who informed me that illegal immigration of Eastern Europeans is very active in the US as well. They come in through Canada along checkpoints that are not heavily monitored. I wonder if the dental work that was done on her was American in origin or European? There are subtle differences between the two.

Is there a missing persons website for those missing outside of the country?

I'm thinking maybe she WAS a au pair or nanny from another country....

Or she could have been an immigrant that brought the clothing with her to the US. Or even someone that was born here, but had family back in Eastern Europe that was sending her clothes, etc.???

What was left of the braces.. could they tell if they were done in the U.S.? I know that other countries do dental work in different ways. Dont know if there is any difference in dental work, in the U.S. and the other areas listed from the clothing though.

You'd think that the remaining two bands on the teeth could be examined for place of manufacture or even the style of orthodontal work. Some dentists also straighten teeth and have certain styles of getting started or pulling certain teeth. One method was used on my daughter that was mainly only used in Europe at that time. Someone isn't reporting this girl missing, but the Indian blouse, the bandana maybe used as a scarf or hair tie, the capris in Winter, and the box should give alot of clues to someone. Someone involved in music, ordering clothes from or actually being in another country, and with not enough money to continue dental work any further. Maybe someone dating a foreigner, an immigrant brought in to work in some ethnic restaurant or for a certain family, or even a mail order bride could be some of the odder scenarios.

January 2007 was a warmer than usual winter for Chicago, however after looking at the archived weather from the 15th through the 21st of January the entire week was below freezing. It wasn't unusual to dress for style and not for the weather when I was the approximate age of this girl, however I'm not sure that can be said for someone not from the area, or an area with cold winters.

I'm mulling over possibilities here...

Maybe Jane was a runaway? Not necessarily from another country, but maybe she ran away from home as a teen with braces and took them off herself?

Maybe the shirt she got was from a thrift shop, secondhand store, or consignment shop here in the United States???

I am fairly new at this, and wow, all the possible scenarios are overwhelming! How do we narrow it down with so few clues?!?!! With time and turning every possible stone, you who have done this for a while will tell me?

Thinking back at, ummm, everything... There was no evidence of sexual assault, so maybe the human trafficking for purpose of sexual exploitation can be ruled out?

The other thing: I'm not at all into brand things, but I know I have seen that Monte Carlo logo somewhere. I'm originally from Western Europe, but I left a long time ago, so I don't think I saw it there. I'm quite positive I've seen the logo in the US.

Jennifer Wix? http://www.theyaremissed.org/ncma/gallery/ncmaprofile_all.php?A200401299S

Jennifer Wix MySpace Page: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=86598191
(Compare the third photo in the Find Jennifer MySpace page with the bust of Jane Doe.)

Jennifer has a tatoo. The Chicago doe does not have any tat's listed. Though, I do see the resemblence.

Kyla also has a tatoo.

This one brings up a question. The chicago doe has nothing listing about piercings. Which seems odd to me, not even single piercing in each ear? Was this just not mentioned in the description?

ETA: Jessica ran away when she was 15. Her picture and description do not show braces or mention braces. I may be wrong, but I think a 15 year old runaway would probably not be able to afford extensive dental work after running away. Unless that person ran off with a much older person and was initially being cared for by someone who started abusing her after she ran away. I may be way off, but that came to mind when searching runaways and missing persons. I tried to include those with braces when they went missing. I'm pretty new at this too, so I may be off......

I'm pretty sure there was a mention of her ears having been pierced at one time, even though she wasn't wearing any jewelry. I'll go double-check.

I found another article:

http://www.redorbit.com/news/scienc...or_fingerprints_hurt_investigation/index.html

Highlights:
--Forensic investigators have had no luck with fingerprint databases [...]. But investigators also have struggled to get good impressions of her fingertips because her body had been left in the cold [...].

-- The woman's face was so badly beaten that detectives don't know exactly what she looked like.

--She had no unique markings or tattoos [...].
