Maybe someone else will see something different, but to me, the jawline between the bust and the chin shapes are very different. Also, Amy was listed at 5'0" even and 17 when she went missing. I kind of ruled this out thinking it's possible a younger person may have grown a few inches but 4" in a year between 17 and 18 for a female? I'm not familiar with female growth patterns or an average age for which females reach adult ht. I only grew 4" between the time I was 10 and my final adult ht.

I'm pretty sure there was a mention of her ears having been pierced at one time, even though she wasn't wearing any jewelry. I'll go double-check.

TY Clemy, I would assume it would be unusual in this day and age for a younger woman to not have pierced ears. TY also for the other additional info you have posted.

Other info found, or refreshers:

--Because Jane was killed 3-4 days before her alley discovery, cops are not certain about her eye color.

--She had previously worn braces, however they were not removed by an orthodontist. She also had a chip on one of her front right teeth.

--cheek bones are high and forward

--eyebrows are high and full

--ears have a "meaty" lobe

--Both ears were pierced once.

I wish there was more information for us to go by. Were there not any fingerprints on the keyboard box or the wires used to hold the box together? What about the bindings on her hands? Or the plastic bag she was wrapped in???

There has to be other evidence! There just has to be more to Jane's story!!!

CHICAGO -- An autopsy on Monday determined a woman found wrapped with cords inside a box in a Northwest Side alley was murdered.The woman, who remained unidentified as of Monday afternoon, was asphyxiated and suffered multiple blunt injuries to her face, a Cook County Medical Examiner’s office spokesman said of the autopsy results. Her death was ruled a homicide, he said.

A renowned forensic artist has finished a clay facial reconstruction of the woman in hopes someone will recognize her and give investigators a key piece of information in finding her killer.

Maybe a long shot, but look at the photos on Samantha's page compared to these two pics of the Chicago Jane doe from AWM's site.

South Carolina isn't close to Chicago but if this girl was bipolar I and off her medication she could have had manic episodes and possibly found herself in Chicago. The medication could also explain the little bit of wt. difference. Some medications for depression, bipolar etc. have a wt. loss or wt. gain effect.

I wonder what other information exists about Samantha.

Did anyone report this lead?

I originally dismissed the possibility because of eye color, but didn't see the revised sketch with lighter eyes or the possibility that her eyes were not even brown to begin with!!! This is an excellent possibility!!!

Also, did anyone notice how "meaty" Jane Doe's ears are? In all of the sketches and in the bust, the inner part of the ear kind of "jut out" from the middle of the ear. This should be a MAJOR clue as we look through missing photos. I wish Samantha Smith's ears were shown a little more in her photos. Her nose and jawline are incredibly similar!

Yes, I did see and read those yesterday, along with whatever has been posted about Samantha at projectjason and porchlight. I wish some of the photo's of Samantha's teeth were more clear. Even without the braces Chicago doe's teeth clearly show one of the upper front teeth slightly sitting over the other.

I have also wondered if the perp tore off the braces not knowing the glue would remain to keep her id hidden. Whoever did this took the time to make sure that cascio box was well wrapped.

As far as I know this match has not been reported. I was waiting to see what others thought and what the person suggesting the match wants to do, don't want to steal any thunder so to speak.

My only question is why would someone from a warmer climate make there way to a colder climate in winter. Plus, it's an 11.5 hour drive from Clinton SC to Chicago IL according to google maps.

However, I still think the potential match should be reported.

One of her pictures that show her teeth. I looks like there could be something silver on her left tooth. Just like on the Jane Does. So I definately want to know about Samanthas teeth. Could someone ask over at the other board. The lips dont match up. But Im thinking maybe somehow Jane Does lips could have been bigger than they were, when she was alive. Has anyone ever heard of that? The hair color and looking at the morgue photo of Jane Does hair.. well, it eerily similar to her hair in a couple pictures. I dont think this shouldnt go over looked.

As far as where she was found.. That is strange and reason to believe maybe its not her. But stranger things have definately happened. Find out about her teeth and you should be able to mark her on or off the list.

Oh wow, I remember seeing Samantha Renee Smith on nampn when I was first looking for matches, but then I was going by the sketch and there was no similarity whatsoever.

I think so, but we should double check. I am not a CTV forum member. Is anyone here? If not, I will join and contact the poster who is in contact with Samantha's mother to find out.

Though, from what was posted it may not be verifiable unless someone can reach Samantha's sister. It's my understanding Samantha was living with her bf and her mother had not seen her in some time before she went missing.

Maybe contact the clinton detective to inquire?

I'm not great on the phone so I prefer someone else do that.
