Question about the execution style shots to Jessi:

If Coston was close to her when he pulled the trigger, wouldn't there have been 3 exit wounds to go with the 3 bullet holes? If he shot her from farther away, wouldn't the bullet lodge inside? I really don't know, that's why I'm asking...

Depends on the caliber of gun and bullets used..

A vehicle part found Friday afternoon where Wheeler's truck containing Evans' body had been dumped led investigators to Coston.

White County Sheriff Doug Maier said investigators matched the wrecked vehicle part to Coston's vehicle and picked him up for questioning Friday

BBM

So, this scum bag hit something/someone with his vehicle. Hard enough to lose part of his vehicle!

Wheeler was shot once in the head; Evans shot 3 times in the head.

I am still sooooo pizzed. Innocent, young people - gone - because some A## out drunk and driving.....

Thanks to LE for going back out to scene where Wheeler's truck was found and re-searching area.....

I hope this loser wasn't helping with the searches...

That was my immediate thought also. He went back after the initial investigation and search of the area and dumped the auto part (if it was the bumper) I don't think LE would have missed it, unless it was a small piece of a light cover, etc.

What I can't figure out is how he came across them at the campsite area. The campsite was 1 mile NORTH of where the car was found ----which I had envisoned 1 mile south on my maps because of the direct route of CR 1400. CR1400 STOPS and connects with CR 2150 E at that intersection. (The first reports said the truck was found at the end C2150...which is that ^^^^^ intersection).

NOW, the question is, what was Coston doing that far north if coming from the south to go home? It make no sense to me, because he would've turned left to go home before reaching the campsite. I'll post a map of where the truck was found and Coston's home by the Centerville Cemetery...and New Haven. Maybe I'm missing something or the kids were camping on the east side of the river to begin with and not the west side.

OK, following is the map with assumed locations from MSM and the underground news site. Please let me know if there is anything you think needs changed. (Hanks is the newer bridge and Cherry is the old one. Is Cherry Shoals still in use?) To be honest, I can't find what road crosses the Sigler. It's like the road just stops at the bridge. :waitasec:

Hope you can follow because it was difficult for me to put in words.

A = DC's home---across from cemetery.
B = truck location ?
C = campsite ?
D = New Haven, IL ----(American Legion)

E, F & G = Optional bridges of which he had to cross one to get home.

Like I said, maybe I'm missing something...and unless the Cherry Shoals is now closed, what was Coston doing so far north to go home and by the campsite.

Just to clear things up, I guess I can be dyslexic at times....I must have read "gunshot" to the head as "shot gun" to the head. My mistake. But still, in that remote an area ANYONE approaching a campsite would not be stealthy nor unseen. Its dark out in the middle of nowhere. So my guess is either a road rage incident and stalking.....or he did see a campfire or something on what he may have thought was his property and went to investigate.....and being drunk and obnoxious maybe, perhaps offended Jake and/or Jessi. Thus some sort of confrontation occurs. But how on earth do you call that random? You can't "happen" on someone under those circumstances. He had to know they were there and seek them out. Maybe in daylight a random meeting could occur in the woods during hunting or fishing.....but not at night. Someone knew the other was there or coming. Its also quiet in the woods and a truck coming at you would be heard and the headlights seen. All of this is my opinion of course, but being a country girl, and married to an avid outdoorsman, I've been out fishing and hunting many a night and day.

"I knew it was evidence or could be evidence," said Harold Wheeler. "That's why I called the sheriff's office and told them what I found."

He reportedly found a bloody bumper that came from a vehicle that belonged to David Coston. quoted from link below Harold Wheeler is Jacobs dad (does'nt say where he found bumper)

"I felt like everybody stabbed my family in the back," he said. "Accusing him of something he didn't do and I knew he didn't do."

"In our hearts we knew Jacob had nothing to do with it," said Hale.

"This has been really really tough on both families," said Sheriff Maier. "There were a lot of accusations as it turns out, they were innacurate."

Breaks my heart to read this article.

Wow....I thought LE found the bumper. I had no idea it was Jacob's Dad who found it. I'm sure this ordeal has been horrific for the families. My prayers are with them. Rest in peace Jacob and Jessica.

If he were drunk and hitting on all the women that night could he have stopped and talked to them and hit on Jessica and she rejected him so he shot her 3 times then turned the gun on Jake?

  • #890
If this started at the camp site he had to drive Jakes truck to the spot and run it over an embankment and WALK back to get his truck.Wasnt it about 2 mi from the site to where the truck was found?

Wow I'm just jaw dropping shocked and speechless.. I had quickly popped in earlier this evening while still out with friends for dinner and drinks.. And just happened to pop in for a moment as we just got home.. Literally had to zoom, scroll back up and Back down several times before it actually sank n what I was reading.. That this man Is actually a neighbor tht lives couple houses down from Jake and his family, yet "claims", this was totally random and that he had no connection, nor even knowledge of who Jake and Jessica were....???... I'm sorry, wtf??.. How is that even remotely possible as being true?.. He lives on the same exact street as jake&fam, mere houses separating the two properties from one another..

Yet that's not where the victims were even at at the time of their murder.. They were in a completely different area and county, in a pretty much remote area with no main draw of landmark or attraction which brings heavy or even regular traffic back through this area where the couple was fishing/camping..

Yet of all the people, in all of the places, out of all of the times it just so happened to be that Jakes "neighbor", Danny Coston with zero intent, nor planning, or even knowledge that the couple were at this remote locale.. He just "happens", upon them and literally brutally slaughtered them???... Again wtf?

I'm not buying that version for even a millisecond.. Sorry, nope, not gonna wash imo.. There is much more to this man's agenda, motive, or intent than what he's supposedly claiming..

What probably made it most shocking for me was clicking on the little league photo with him as the coach in the photo.. He looks as normal and as average as most career holding 36 year old men, who are fathers and coaches to their sons little league teams.. It's spine tingling terrifying in realizing the literal monster that was hidden out of sight behind the mask of an attractive, thirty-something year old dad who appeared to be involved in his sons life.. My gut is just twisted into a knot at this moment and I just desperately want to know WHY?.????..

The tiny sliver I am atleast "happy", or better worded, relieved to see that atleast we now have Jakes name and character cleared and the truth fully exposed of who is the evil in this sad, sad happenstance, and exactly who are the two victims whose young lives stolen from them in literally the blink of an eye.. After midnight alive and well and loving and living life together and before the break of dawn ever was even able to peer its first mornings ray of blessed sunshine.. These two young lives filled with so much promise, so very much more life yet to live, they were gone....

RIP Jessi/Jake you will never be forgotten and your loved ones will ensure that justice is served on each of your behalf..

May God grant these families, loved ones, and friends the small solace in closure, and the strength to see this tragedy through to its very bittersweet end of seeking justice for these two.. My prayers will continue for the weeks and months to follow..

I totally agree with you that it was more than a random meeting. If a perp kills a random couple that he just runs into, he does NOT write a suicide note and stage a murder/suicide. :mad:

Whats this about a suicide note ?

I bet those women he was dancing with at the Legion are pretty freaked out now. How would it feel to know he left the dance floor only to murder two people a short time thereafter.

Such a sad story, Prayers for the Wheeler and Evans families.

I don't think thats been confirmed by LE. If I recall, Baseball said that was what he heard around town. I wonder if they were shot in the back of the head or the front.....I hope they never saw it coming. This is so terrifying to me as my daughter and her boyfriend, my husband and I and also just my husband and his friends are always out in the woods hunting or in remote areas fishing. Usually the land is our personal deer lease where meetings with strangers are not likely......but anything is possible. Like I stated earlier though, in a remote area I don't see how it's possible to meet someone randomly. Especially at night, in the dark.....but actually I guess no one said it happened in the dark. No one knows when or what time it happened I'm guessing?

Im wondering if it werent road rage and Jake yelled at him and it happened where Jakes truck was found. Otherwise he would have had to do some walking that night and then go back and get Jakes body.

Based on the description of his behavior earlier in the evening and the amount of times each one was shot, it seems as though Jessi was the source of his anger/obsession.

Or women in general and she just happens to be one.

No father ever expects to bury his son. And no father ever expects to have to defend his son in the court of public opinion.

"If a parent ever loses a kid, they'll know what we're going through," said Harold Wheeler. "It ain't easy."

Words spoken by Jacob's father.....my heart truly aches for Jacob's and Jessica's families.

I hope someday Mr. Wheeler knows there were strangers here at this site who believed in Jacob.

I guess we'll probably hear eventually what really happened, but one way I can see it being totally random out in the middle of nowhere is:

Jacob and Jessica are fishing a ways from where they were camping. Coston comes by on his way home and gets behind them as they're heading back to their campsite, or moving to a new fishing spot. He's irate and impatient because they're driving slowly. He pulls up and slams into the back of their truck and pushes them off the road.

Coston gets out in a rage, blaming them because they were going too slow. Jacob grabs the gun he brought, and he either just points it at him or shoots a couple times into the air to 'get his attention.' Coston goes to the front of his truck and looks at the damage, acting like he's calmed down some. Jacob goes over to look too, letting himself get caught offguard. Coston grabs the gun and shoots him in the head. Jessica starts screaming so he shoots her too, emptying the rest of the bullets from the gun.

When he pulls out to leave, his bumper is hooked on Jacob's truck and comes off. He grabs it, and Jacob's body, and throws them into the back of his truck. Then puts her body where it was found and throws some branches on her. He takes Jacob's body and dumps it, and then goes home. After the area has been searched, he brings his bumper over and throws it out there.

It is also possible that his bumper was actually under Jacob's truck and they somehow missed it when searching, but I think that's very unlikely.
