If him and his wife have been separated for a year but neither one has filed for a divorce if he could possibly have hitchhiked a ride with a semi and trying to make his way to FL where she is?

  • #122
Well something happened since yesterday when they said they didnt know if he was also a victim or a suspect to name him a suspect today. They must have found something or found something out.

I'm pretty sure he is still just a person of interest; not a suspect.

Yeah I should have said POI.

The article below contains some speculations that they might have stumbled onto a meth lab. I think that is very speculative and if both were killed then why were they not put together in the back of the truck?

Another scenario could be that Jacob killed Jessica but then why put her in the back of the truck and run on foot? Why not hide the body and use the truck to run?

If he escaped from the attackers then why has he not been found?

I do think one or more others are involved. Jacob has either been taken or is on the run with another person. The other(s) having their own vehicle.

Either way, there are too many questions for now.

Several people on the news 14 fb page know him and everyone says he is always nice to everyone. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some answers.

I thought about the drug angle myself. A remote wooded area like that would be a great place for a drug deal. Maybe they saw something they shouldn't.

But why kill her and take him? You would think they would take him out first because he is the bigger threat.

And I agree- it is very interesting that the keys are missing. Why would a stranger leave the truck and take the keys?

They went camping and fishing for the weekend.

- late Saturday night, they were both spotted at McDonald's, they seemed happy
- shortly after midnight Sunday morning, Jessica tells her Mother on the phone that she had just caught a fish
- Jessi was expected back at work at 5 a.m (Monday morning?)
- Truck found Monday afternoon, parked on an embankment, Jessica's body in the back hidden under tree limbs

I am guessing Jessica works on Monday morning so that would mean 'it' probably happened on Sunday, not necessarily during the night.

On his fb page about the 4th post down he talks about the things he misses and one is missing the fact that he always had a gun on him. (assuming military). So maybe he doesnt have one?

One last thought for tonight. I was thinking about the drug angle. If they stumbled upon a meth lab chances are they were local . Maybe someone shot him and disposed of him at a different location, put her in the truck, ran it down an embankment and took the keys out to make it look like he did it.

Were they camping at a campground or just found a spot and made camp? If they were just fishing and hanging around their campsite it would make more sense that someone approached them. The theory they stumbled onto a meth lab or drug deal always comes up but I don't think I have ever heard of that actually ever happening. IMO

This is the first time I've read about this, but my initial thought was that he was killed first, and she had taken the truck to try to get away, went down into the embankment and tried hiding in the bed of the truck. That idea has a lot of holes in it though. They could have thrown his body into the river, but I think it would have been found by now. If they took it with them to dump somewhere else, why not take hers too?

I haven't read all of the links, have they said where she was shot? (where she was found, in the cab of the truck, outside the truck or somewhere else.)

From what's been posted, she was found in the bed of the truck, covered with branches.

I know it said she was found there, but have they said if they believe she was shot there (or put there after she was dead.)

Well, gunshot doesn't sound like a crime of passion. After all, someone can be shot at a certain distance. If it was strangling or stab wounds, then that would show a sign of rage and closeness to the victim.

I hate to say but it almost sounds like a drug deal gone wrong.

As far as a 17 year old camping out with a 22 year old, that wouldn't happen in my house. But, kids have been known to lie and say they are staying over here or there with female friends...but all along they have another plan that they know mom and dad wouldn't approve of.

I have to respectfully disagree. LOTS of DV's end in gun violence. :(

I wasn't going to share this. . .but here seems like the appropriate place. There was a shooting directly in front of my house on Sunday night. There is a rental house at the end of the block. I left to go to the grocery store around 7pm and came back to about 8 police cars parked on the front of our street.

The story is there was arguing out on the street and a woman was walking with a toddler by one hand and pushing a baby in a stroller with the other. A man with a beer bottle was following her. He pulled a gun and pointed it at her. . .and she started running. . best she could with two little kids. And then he pointed the gun in the air and fired. She was yelling at neighbors to go back in their houses because "He's going to kill someone tonight!" They are the renters from the end of the block. He just got back from a tour in Afghanistan. I know for a fact that he had been drinking all day, because I drove by him and his near empty 40 ouncer at about noon. He waved at me.

I'm still a little freaked out because he has yet to be apprehended and I'm positive he was at that house today. It's been empty since the incident, but he was there today. He's a loose cannon. As my neighbor said. PTSD, heavy drinking and fire arms do not mix!

Please don't bash me for jumping to conclusions here about soldiers. I live in a highly populated military area. I have worked with disabled vets. I don't know if Jacob is the perp or a victim here, but we can't ignore the possibilities. It's a travesty what is happening to these young men.

Sorry for being so long winded! My point was that just because a gun was used does not mean it wasn't a crime of passion. There are too many DV cases where a gun is the weapon of choice. . . .AND we can't ignore that we might have a young soldier here dealing with issues that he never asked for. :(

Because of where I live, I worry about all these young guys coming back. It's an entire generation. We have failed them. That needs to change.

I think this could be the County Road 2150N in White County, (Crossville) - location of the truck...not sure about exactly WHERE on/off the road...but for anyone trying to get their bearings:

Correct area. I went camping and fishing in the Walbash once with my friends and their parents in this area. The areas first mentioned were Norris City and Centerville. Centerville in S IL is a blip in the road and not present on G maps. Later MSM said they were both from Carmi so I used that for the map.

A = Carmi
B = The end of CR 2150N where the car was found. 1 mile from campsite.

C = Centerville Cemetary--just to give you an idea.

D = Walbash and my guess the area they were camping.

It's very remote, so will need to use the zoom or even the road features.

Vigil held and LE stopped the search around 4PM yesterday and no one knows why. There were still locals out searching on ATV and horseback.

If LE was searching with dogs, they may have tuckered out after a full day. IMO

- Jessi was expected back at work at 5 a.m (Monday morning?)

She was expected back for a baby-sitting job on Sunday morning. So whatever happened occurred between midnight and 5 am Sunday morning.

I'm not positive, but I think one article said they were camping on private property (not a public campground). Their campsite was about two miles from where the truck was found, near the river. My theory is that they left the campsite, drove down to the river to fish, and that is where they were killed. He probably parked the truck and took the keys out of the ignition. Or maybe they fell out of his pocket and got lost in the weeds somewhere.

I also agree that someone may have killed them both, but hid his body to make it look like he did it and is on the run. Maybe they couldn't find the keys, so they just pushed the truck down the bank to try and hide it.

I'm sorry if I sound nit-picky, but they were fishing in the Little Wabash, not the Wabash. It's a completely different river. The Little Wabash is much smaller, and it is farther west.

I'm not sure that location B on your map is where the truck was found, either. If you zoom in and go farther west, you will see that CR 2150 N stops and starts a few times. One of those times, it ends right next to the Little Wabash. I would guess that is where they were fishing. We discussed this a few pages back. :)

You may want to check my map again. The location I have on my map where I believe the truck was found is by the Little Wabash...and near Centerville; because I know that the big Wabash is further east and is the boundary for the IN and IL border in S IL.

OK, that is weird...the first time I clicked on your map, it brought up something totally different. And it didn't show locations C or D, either. :waitasec: Sorry about that.
