I sent the link regarding the body found in St. Charles to the Find Jake page and I got a message from a family member of his saying they'd heard nothing of it and will investigate (MOO)

I have had a customers who were missing persons. If there is no subpoena yet and the accounts are joint, I obtain the consent of the joint account owner. If the accounts are not joint, I ask if someone has POA. If so, I ask for their consent.

Coerrect...but if it is an individual account with no POA then no info can be provided, correct? Which is what I have been saying all along.

  • #445
Correct. In this case, someone did have POA, so I’m assuming that’s how they were able to determine his last activity

What about the possibility Jake went into treatment without telling anyone? HIPAA would prevent anyone having that information. Inpatient treatment can be anywhere from 30 days to 9 months. It's possible he didn't want to share that and had an Uber or Lyft pick him up where he left his car.

Great!! I’m glad we finally cleared that up!

Interesting theory, though I’m curious what JC’s motivation here would be. Yes, there’s an unnecessarily large cultural stigma around alcoholism/mental illness, but would disappearing entirely without a trace to get treatment really help your corporate and family standing anyway? I could see someone disappearing for a day or two then announcing, “I’ve actually stepped away to get help” but going silent for weeks seems excessive. JMO. Has a long-missing person ever later said they were in treatment?

I realize it's definitely a long shot. Two things caused me to consider the possibility. People make choices when they are drunk they wouldn't otherwise. I've heard inpatient treatment centers really discourage contact with family for a period of time.

I was fortunate to not need inpatient treatment so I can only comment on what I have heard. It's on the bottom of my list, but possible.

Anything is possible until Jake is located.

Not sure if he was paying alimony or a lump sum to his ex when they got divorced, but he was most likely paying child support and he took a huge pay cut back in February. Combined with stress of laying off coworkers/ friends, and company bleeding financially...it’s the perfect storm IMO

Child support is frequently adjusted according to current earnings. I don't know about alimony. How many years were they married?

Income and savings have absolutely nothing to do with each other.....

They have the potential to have a great deal to do with each other. Obviously, savings requires one to live within their means. Past that, the greater the income, the greater the potential there is to save. Further, many high-level execs' compensation packages have considerable stock options and bonuses built into their benefits package, offering greater opportunity to build wealth and savings, add to that the compensation for being on the board of other entities. Lastly, the greater the income, in general, the greater opportunities there are to network and leverage contacts, assets, etc.

This article United Airlines Executive Still Missing, 20 Days Later | One Mile at a Time

says this: "however, he was seen on video getting gas at around 10AM, and was also seen on video entering Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve, wearing hiking boots and khakis (which isn’t typically what you’d wear if you’re going on a jog)"

BBM

That's where I got the info about him being seen entering the preserve and that he must have entered on foot because in a car, you would not see that he had on hiking boots.

I know national parks have entrance cams; I haven't personally witnessed any at a local preserve kind of area, but I guess it's possible they do. Otherwise, I'm not sure what video would pick him up entering unless it was a nearby traffic cam or business cam (if there are any even nearby).

Maybe he was captured on video driving into the entrance, parking, and exciting his car. In that way, the boots could be visualized??

His twins are 15 or 16 years old. They divorced in 2015, she would have gotten half of everything...stocks, 401k, salary. Plus, his salary was reduced by 50% due to the pandemic. Yes he made a lot of money but there a lot of factors in this situation. It’s possible also that the criminal investigation had something to do with money. He could have been in way over his head so like I said, it doesn’t always correlate.

Very good possibility!

I’m curious about that too. Wondering if he commonly wore a hat? And was the one he had on known?

Or even after the gas station he could have met with foul play. Scenarios like- can you drop this off on your way...I’ll meet you here.

unless—- there is still more info we don’t know..which I presume there is.

He may have been planning to go golfing. The attire matches, except that boots. But they aren't sure if they were boots, due to poor quality video. Maybe someone followed him from the gas station ??
