Atwood woman still missing​

Karen Fennessy, the 20-year-old woman who has been missing since December 22, has still not been found.

Fennessy is 4 ft. 10 inches tall, 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a yellow sweatshirt, khaki pants, black boots, and a gray winter hat. Police said she may be suffering from a mental health issue.

First responders searched for Fennessy on December 23 but were not able to locate her.

According to the Atwood Police Department, another search was conducted today but no results or leads were found. ...

Police were made aware of a 20-year-old woman that ran away from her residence on December 22. Karen C. Fennessy was last seen at 10:30 pm on the 200 block of N. Kansas St. in Atwood.

ATWOOD, Ill. (WAND) - A woman is missing from Atwood.

Police received information that Fennessy was observed in the area of Central Ave. and Kentucky St. late Thursday night.

People are asked to check their garages, outbuildings, or unlocked vehicles and report any concerns to police by dialing 911.

Search for missing Atwood woman temporarily suspended

“We chased down every lead we had and we just couldn’t find her,” Atwood Police Chief Rob Bross said of Karen Fennessy.

About two dozen police, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, emergency-management workers and volunteer citizens spent hours in the dangerous cold looking for the 20-year-old woman who fled the family home in the northwest part of Atwood about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, apparently having a mental crisis.

“We got the call around 11:15 p.m. and by then, she was gone about 45 minutes,” Bross said.

ATWOOD, Ill. (WCIA) — Atwood Police said search volunteers reported they located an unresponsive female in a field west of Atwood on Tuesday.

Responding officers determined the person was deceased and identified her as Karen Fennessy, the woman who has been missing since Thursday.
