IL IL - Kierra Coles, 27, pregnant, Chicago, 2 Oct 2018

Can someone confirm if the video was from the 2nd or 3rd?

3rd

I'm confused as to which car is hers that she walks by. I've watched 2 video's the most recent one above references a car that is hers but I don't see it in the video of her walking by it. Is her car on the opposite side of the street or on the side where she was walking on the sidewalk.

It looks like she is carrying a backpack yet they said her purse/phone were in her car. I highly doubt she left that stuff in her car overnight, had she gone somewhere earlier then went to her appt to change or did she make 2 trips to her car? Could someone have dropped her belongings in her car after she went missing? I wonder if there is video of earlier and later. I know we probably don't know these answers, I'm just trying to wrap my head around this. All of this is IMO

If her car was in front of the house parked in the street. Then how far down the street was it while saying it was in front of her house?

She was walking down the block?

The CCTV cuts it doesn't actually show her car

Day after day with no news . Her poor family must be in agony!!
I'm worried this going unsolved and her family never getting answers.
I'm curious about the timing of the sick call-in and how it corresponds to the video of her walking in uniform. Lunch in the car, was she planning to go to work?
I'm hoping LE call access her phone to determine if the sick call was made from that phone.
Prayers for the family

Possibly Kierra found out that she is not the "only one" and either an event occurred that caused her to be disappeared or she voluntarily left to go into hiding for one reason or another? I don't know if anyone else saw "Bonnie and Clyde" on FB? If you search Kierra Coles missing on fb you will see what I am referring to. There are interesting comments with it, also.

I would like to think after 5 years one would know whether you were the only one or not. I will add that her mother says this baby was planned.

So she or someone else called her out sick ahead of time, likely using the USPS automated call out system that does not require you to speak but does require you to input your EIN. After calling out sick, she is seen on video in her work uniform. Her lunch is in her car. These things indicate that she planned to go to work, IOW someone else called her out sick ahead of time without her knowledge because they had something planned and it wasn't anything good. :(

Her mom says the person she spoke to at USPS is sure it was Kierra calling it

I'm trying to get caught up on this. Do we know if she lived with the boyfriend?

She lives alone and has been in that apartment three months as per her sister. The boyfriend imo has belongings there after 5 years together whether he's married or not if he was present after finding out she was pregnant

Volunteers helping with the search have little information to go on.

[...]

Friends and co-workers say her disappearance makes no sense. “She’s not the type to let someone sneak up on her,” co-worker John Cheatham said.

Dozens of volunteers have been working the neighborhood with little luck.

"We have a lot of abandoned buildings around here," one person said.

Some volunteers have never even met the missing woman.

“This could have been anybody. It could have been me,” Kierra Sword said. “It could have been my sister. It could have been my cousin. You just can’t wait until it happens to your home or your family to help.”

[...]

Activist Andrew Holmes is helping coordinate search efforts.

"The phone volume is very, very low with information," Holmes said.

Joseph Coles quit his job to look for his daughter. He stands in the street passing out flyers.

He remains hopeful of finding answers.

“It’s been too long. I’m quite sure someone saw something or knows something,” Joseph Coles said.

Frustrated with low neighborhood response in the case, volunteers went door-to-door in the area Sunday to ask homeowners to share security video and urge witnesses to come forward.

Their search comes as police say they suspect foul play in Coles’ disappearance. They’ve launched a joint investigation with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and a reward for information in the case has grown to almost $30,000.

This case is so strange and sad. I’m not up to speed on it. So my questions may be based on false information.

I don’t understand why she called in sick but was in her clothes for work? And her walking past her car but her purse and keys being in the car confuses me. How did her purse and keys get in the car? That should be on video, right?

My heart breaks for the family. She was such a cute girl with what seemed like a lot of promise ahead :(

This case is so sad and I tend to agree it seems like foul play. If we go with the fact that it WAS her who called in sick, it seems like she wanted someone to think she was going to work, even though she was not. I could even see going through the motions of packing and bringing a lunch with you if that's what you normally do to keep up the charade of it.

IF this is what happened, who was she lying to about going to work? Her boyfriend? Someone else? And what did she intend to do that day instead of go to work?

Where did she go after the CCTV stopped viewing her? It was in the middle of the day. Surely someone would have seen/heard something if something happened to her on that street?

Quit his job to search for his daughter? What kind of employer would not let his employee search for their kid without worrying they didn't have a job to come back to? This is so sad. Obviously, the father is desperate to find her. I hope they do and soon!

Thanks to everyone here providing the news links!

I have updated the Kierra Coles Case Archive. Now we have more than 180 files.
All the pics and news articles I can find (except there are a lot of national outlets using the same story... I did not save most of the duplicates)
Check it out.

He could be employed through a temp agency and dont have job safety.

Hopefully the local church or shelter can provide him with a bed and some food or something instead of sleeping in his car.

Her father drove from Wisconsin to the Chatham neighborhood where she was last seen, joining strangers and Kierra’s fellow mail carriers to turn up fresh clues.

More than a dozen people canvassing the area, passing out fliers and searching for new surveillance video.

“I'm hoping we can turn over every stone that needs to be turned over. I'm hoping we'll be able to catch some leads,” said Joseph Coles.

Do we know when he left his family behind?

Because some fathers don't even show back up in some of these missing person cases.

So it seems like him and his daughter maintained some type of relationship while he was gone.

It's possible she got dressed to go to work and then began to feel too sick to work, so she called off despite being dressed and ready to go. I've done that before. Especially being 3 months pregnant, I'm sure the waves of morning sickness came and went.

I think it was mentioned that she called in unwell the morning of, sorry I read the original information incorrectly.

Is it possible she didn't actually want to be pregnant and was on her way to have an abortion? That might be something she'd hide from friends/family, even the baby's father.

That doesn't exactly explain why she never turned back up, though.

Her mother stated in earlier linked articles that the pregnancy was planned on Kierra's part and she was really excited to be a first time mother.

I wasn't able to log on for the last couple of days. I was hoping to see she was found.
Anything new on the boyfriend? I know he's not a poi

Kierra is not listed in NamUs.
The following is a long shot, unless she has ties to Detroit.

Kierra calls in sick to work but yet wants it to appear that she is going to work. What on earth would cause a woman with a stable job who is soon to be a mom to put her source of income in jeopardy? Seems so irresponsible, which by nature I don’t think she was. In this thread it is said that Kierra lives alone. Was she known to go from home directly to work everyday? Logically thinking, if she lives alone and goes directly to work every morning, I can’t think of any reason why she needs to be in her work uniform acting like she is going to work when she isn’t.

If she wouldn’t have been in her work uniform I would easily imagine that she wanted another day off for any given reason (morning sickness, wanting to sleep in, shopping, anything really) but it’s her being in her work uniform that is so confusing.

I don’t believe she was a victim of something random. What is the probability that she calls in sick when she isn’t, is wearing her work uniform for no apparent reason, and then is a victim of some random crime? Almost zero in my mind.

I read in this thread that she called in the day before. Any chance she changed her mind and decided to go into work after all? There is an automated system employees use to call off of work, but how do you cancel that or change your mind? Can that be done through the automated system? I personally have taken a few days off work because of the flu, called my boss to say I needed one more day, then called him again in the morning to say I actually was feeling better and could work. So, maybe it is possible she was on her way to work after all?
