Don't know why this brings Charles Stuart and Diane Downs to my mind, in spite of the differences. JMO

Question

Why aren’t trials in Illinois televised? If we can see trials from other states, why not in Illinois, too?
Answer

The simple answer is that Illinois prohibits cameras in the courtroom, at least for trials. The fact that other states do it has not yet persuaded Illinois judges to permit televised trials.

The following is from a January 2012 article:

The Illinois Supreme Court will announce Tuesday that it will allow media cameras to record proceedings in the state's circuit courts for the first time, a court spokesman said Monday.
The pilot program allowing the media to use both still and video cameras to record civil and criminal proceedings will be enacted "on an experimental and limited basis," said Joseph Tybor, spokesman for the state Supreme Court.

No idea if this trial will be televised or not. Though, I think it were that would have made the media.

According to the above twitter link, 12 jurors have been selected. 6 alternates still needed.

Busy day. Haven't checked MSM for this case yet today. Will do so later this evening.

<snip> A few months after allegedly killing his wife and three children, Christopher Vaughn wrote a jailhouse poem in a coded alphabet that referred to a stripper with whom prosecutors say Vaughn dreamed of starting a new life.
And now they want jurors to see the scribbled poem, which was written in runic symbols that the Oswego man likely learned during his study of Druidism and pagan religions, attorneys said.
The poem was “decrypted” by the FBI, prosecutors say. The poem, written as a list of things to do, includes the enigmatic phrase “Ask Maya the question,” according to a court filing

I think I remember about reading this when it happened way back..

With all of this ridiculous evidence, why the heck did it take 5 years to come to trial?

#ChristopherVaughn jury is 8 men, 4 women. Alternates are 1 man and 5 women. Opening statements are Monday.

I'll be waiting for Monday for the opening statements. All I can say is that Christopher Vaughn is lucky I'm not on his jury!

Attorneys in the Christopher Vaughn murder trial have finished picking his jury, but they’re expected back in a Joliet courtroom Wednesday to deal with a cryptic poem allegedly found in his jail cell months after his family was killed.

Prosecutors said the poem, written in a coded alphabet and decrypted by the FBI, appears to be a list of things to do. One item on the list, they said, is “ask maya the question.”
They said Maya Drake — identified in previous court records as a dancer at a gentlemen’s club in Chicago — was an “unwitting” part of Vaughn’s plan to start a new life. They said his poem is an admission that he planned to reach out to her one day.
