Yep, the retracted seat belt, and didn't they also say the spent shell casings (or the majority of them) were on the floor on the driver's side? I think what has gotten me about this case is Kimberly seemed like a genuinely sweet person, and for him to not only kill her and her children, but turn around and point the finger at her is the absolute height in arrogance and assholishness.

The annihilation of the Vaughn family has been overshadowed in the media both during the time the crime took place & now because of killer cops, Bobby Cutts & Drew Peterson.

I don't recall reading where the spent shell casings were found. I do recall reading the shooter was in the vehicle.

I agree with your comment about killer cops, Cutts and Peterson.

Chris is toast, his blessing is that there is no longer a death penalty in IL. (Once convicted and I am sure he will be), he can spend the rest of his miserable life behind bars knowing he'll never see another stripper again. I hope the image of murdering his wife and children haunt him endlessly.

reading the tweets about his interrogation reveals to me that he planned this for a very long time, he had imagined all the scenarios that would happen post the murders and had planned how he would behave once he was interviewed by LE, I truly think he is convinced that he will sell this story to a jury - that they will accept his story, I think like all murderers he thinks he is the one who will get away with it,

I just hope the jury pays close attention and listenms to all the evidence,

Aug 24, 2012 · Christopher Vaughn, now 37, of Oswego, is on trial in Will County for the ... the broken glass in the driver's side window and spent casings on the driver's …

I googled to find where I read the shell casings were on the driver's side & this came up, but as I was reading it, it wanted a user registration. I'll try to find another source.

Today they are bringing in tips from the infamous magazine article on how to make a murder look like a suicide, "go to shooting range beforehand & wear same clothes to account for gunshot residue."

I tweeted Erika Wurst from Beacon News. She is doublechecking, but recalls 2 casings found on driver's seat & at least one on driver's side floor.

Has anyone besides me notices his left (our right) nostril looks deformed? There are several pictures which look the same and show what looks like a sideways nostril. Drives me nuts everytime I see a photo of this monster.

"I have been married for a long time and it was really just a few years ago I woke up and realized it was not going to work, and I did not want to be obligated to live this lifestyle until I am dead," Vaughn wrote to the friend, Steve Willott, who read many of the emails aloud Friday at Vaughn's trial in Will County for the quadruple killings.

Vaughn wrote to Willott that his wife, Kimberly, will "be just fine" because he planned to fake his own death so she could collect on a $1 million insurance policy. "Maybe she'll find someone who really has their mind in the game," he wrote. Later he said he was having trouble finding an accomplice willing to help him pull off the ruse.

Willott, 31, of Ontario, testified that Vaughn never mentioned he had children in emails or when they talked by phone about their plans.

"I’m wondering what it says when the biggest thing I’ll miss is my Jeep,” Vaughn, using the pseudonym “Flint,”

Willott said he believes Vaughn was absolutely going to disappear for good, and that for Vaughn it was no “camping trip.”

“The lists, the gear, the maps, the ways to get in (to Canada) and the ways to stay there,” Willott said, were all indicative of a man who was planning to permanently escape.

“You shouldn’t do something because everyone else does,” Vaughn wrote. “I started down that path, but unlike most people, I realize I have a choice.”

http://napervillesun.suntimes.com/n...ony-expected-in-christopher-vaughn-trial.html

:what: Unlike most people, he realizes he has a choice? Or unlike most people, he realized he could off his entire family without it affecting his conscience.

It's difficult for me, someone who does not know any of the victims, to read Christopher Vaughn's words. I can not even begin to imagine how difficult it must be Kimberly's family to hear these words.

How is it one decides to off their entire family versus what most people choose, divorce?

And then I have to wonder about Christopher's bio family. Where are they? anyone hear anything about them? This must be difficult for them too, to realize someone so close to them is such a monster.

The evidence against Christopher is overwhelming. I don't see any way the jury could find any reasonable doubt. None.

Reading those turned my stomach, I can only imagine what it was like for Kim's family...or his.

"I look forward to going full native," Vaughn wrote.

While Willott said he was interested in camping for a few weeks, emails show that Vaughn was preparing for a long-term move and not looking to return to the United States. He describes waking up and realizing he doesn't want to continue in the life he's living, stuck in a job for 50 years with a woman he says is, 99 percent of the time, unpleasant to be around.

In one email, Vaughn shares a Henry David Thoreau quote expressing that if one is ready to leave family and friends, settle debts and other affairs that one is "a free man"

"I intend to walk into a different life with no regrets," he said.

In another correspondence, he says the reason why he wants to go through with the elaborate plan is basic.

"To me, it's to live a simple, peaceful life," away from government, big cities and other people, he writes.

Using gunshot evidence kits, she took samples from the webbing between Kimberly Vaughn's thumb and index finger on both hands, as well as from Christopher's fleece jacket and the waistband of his underwear.

From the samples taken, Wong determined Kimberly could have shot the firearm, been in the vicinity of the discharged firearm, or have otherwise come into contact with the firearm's gunshot residue.

With Christopher's underwear and jacket, she said there were two options — that it was in the vicinity of a discharged firearm or otherwise came into contact with gunshot residue particles.

On cross examination Vaughn attorney George Lenard asked if it's conclusive who shot the gun.

"I'm not a ballistics expert," she said, adding she is only an expert in examining evidence for traces of material.

Note for those looking at Morris Daily Herald links. It appears they can be read free once, but can be found and read for free the first time when searched via google. I think this explains why the MDH links might not work when accessed from WS. They should work free for a single read when found via google.

Does anyone know if any TV programs are following this case for a future episode (48 Hours Mystery, Dateline, or 20/20)?

TIA!

IDK, but I am soooo frustrated with the lack of consistent updates. Curse the state of Illinois for not allowing cameras or recording devices of any kind in the courtroom. I've never even heard what family members of Chris's, if any, are in the courtroom. :banghead:

I've been waiting for this guy to "Get His" for 5 years... Now because Drew is in the news...coverage is limited. Maybe now that Petersons verdict is in the hands of the jury we might get more coverage. I live just outside Chicago, and my wife and I actually pulled our Explorer in to that small driveway where this family was murdered . I remember watching the news coverage on the day it happened. They seemed to keep the Expedition there all day. I thought they were probably doing tests for bullet angles and gun shot residue tests. I haven't heard anything about these being brought up in the trial yet.

That materialistic beyotch - to be spending thousands of dollars on drapes for their home when he could have used that money to make it rain for his stable of strippers. The selfishness of some people!
