What they're saying is the little girl was grounded as a punishment and wasn't supposed to be out. He went out to find her, killed her, and the friend as she was a witness.

Chicago television station WMAQ reported that authorities said that Hobbs had confessed to the crimes. Laura Hobbs had been grounded for the weekend, but her mother had lifted the punishment on Mother's Day, angering the girl's father, WMAQ reported.

Police said Jerry Hobbs told them that he went to the park looking for his daughter, and when he found her with Krystal Tobias, he punched both girls in the face, beat them and stabbed them to death, WMAQ reported.

The bodies of the girls were found in a field in a nature preserve Monday morning after being reported missing Sunday night.

Thanks for the post. I just can't get over this, what makes people do this. I have a psycho degree and this just never ceases to amaze me.

What is even more disturbing, when you see the pictures of Krystal's brother, you know that years from now, he is going to have a messed up life because of this. It's all so sad. I hope the families can move on from this tragedy. The mother will never be able to forgive herself and I hate to say it, but she is somewhat to blame if she knew how violent he was before.

I just read he was angry over some money ... what the heck is THAT about? Angry over money and his little girl? Even if my kid spent all the money in my checking account and charged up all my cards, I would never hurt my own child. Sumting wong with this guy, seriously.

What you wanna bet he blames the mother for this? After all, she is the one he had ongoing anger issues with, enough to have been incarcerated.
The man is a monster to kill his own flesh and blood, plus a little girl who did NOTHING at all except befriend his daughter.

My 11-year-old makes me really angry of late. You know, you've all been through the smart mouth stage........talking back, pushing the limits, saying no, etc. It is SO very frustrating. Sometimes I really want to snatch her lips off, but geez! I would never do anything to hurt her, much less kill her.

As some of you already know, I grew up under the very violent and controlling hands of an alcoholic father. Believe me, I know about anger and frustration. However, I've never 'snapped.' I just don't buy that 'because of *stick whatever excuse you want here* I just snapped and couldn't control myself' bit. It just doesn't float with me. Too many people use that excuse. I know plenty of people that have been through horrendous ordeals, and they can control themselves just fine.
