If she as heavily tattooed, I'd think identifying her body wouldn't be much of a problem, if it was her.

Actually, it would. If she was killed around the time she was missing she's been deceased 90 days. After 20-50 days (50 being cooler temperatures) the remains go into what is known as Butyric fermentation. All the remaining flesh is removed over this period and unless in water, the body dries out. The remains emit a scent caused by butyric acid which attracts a whole new round of corpse organisms which further degrade the remains. If the skin surface on which the tattoos were on was in direct contact with the ground it would delay this slightly but the skin would also become covered with mold as the body ferments, making ID by Tattoo at this stage difficult. (Sorry that this is sort of gross, but that is how decomp works).

Thank you for this, your posts are always insightful.
Lauren wore body jewellery, so hopefully they know whether or not that UID had anything found nearby. I wish LE would get her into namus.

I did not know that, thank you!

I think they need to scour through the phone records and texts I hope the police are doing that. The missing persons report is so vague. Doesn't even specify any distinct tattoos this woman has and there's one on her face. It would be nice if they would list what some of her unique visible tats are.

I noticed on the ex boyfriend's page that there were photos of a friend's grave at Oakwood Cemetery. Has that area been searched? Maybe she visited there when she went to Mt. Vernon.

Here is a news story just written on Sept 20, 2019:

Missing West Frankfort, Ill. mother last seen “live” on social media

Friday, September 20, 2019 marks one year since Lauren Pree disappeared. Friends and family are holding a candlelight vigil open to the public for Pree at Coal Miner’s Memorial Park in West Frankfort at 7 p.m.

[MollyAnn] Harper [a childhood friend] said the last time she saw Pree was not in person. She said she saw Pree live on Facebook asking for a ride to Mount Vernon, Illinois.

West Frankfort Police Chief, John Preudent, said police pinged Pree’s phone to Mount Vernon and believe that’s where she was last seen.

“She’s a mother of two twin girls, beautiful twin girls. She’s a sister, she’s a daughter, she’s a friend. We just miss Lauren, and we really want her home," said Harper.

Are there any updates on this? I am from that area...There used to be a huge truck stop in Mt. Vernon and also a Greyhound station...I haven't kept up on this, was there any reason to consider her endangered?

According to her Charley Project page, she left behind twin daughters. That might be enough incentive to make her family and friends think she didn't leave willingly.
