We haven't heard, IIRC, what was or wasn't left behind in the car. From the one still shot released it doesn't appear she had her purse with her unless it was on the opposite arm.

My personal opinion is that she left her belongings behind in the car. This case is super sad.
I believe she did too and hopefully knowing that may give her family some answers. This case and the Tepe's case are really sad, totally different yet permanent choices were made that are life destroying and so unfair for the ones left behind. All JMO.

If somebody went into the water, how long would it take for their body to surface in this weather?

I don't know, but it's also a question of where would a body surface.

Lake Michigan is absolutely HUGE.

jmo
The two Hungarian Huszti sisters in Aberdeen, Scotland, went missing on 7 January 2025, the River Dee, and were found on 31January, about three weeks later, close to the place where they had disappeared. In that case it was a river, but at the same time of the year, and perhaps a similar situation.

Chicago police confirmed 53-year-old Linda Brown had been found Monday afternoon, but couldn't confirm if she was alive or deceased. Her family later told FOX Chicago her body was recovered from the lake.

Sad but not unexpected.

The Chicago Tribune did a good article on the increase in bodies being found in Lake Michigan in the Spring and why that is. SPRING BRINGS DROWNING VICTIMS TO THE SURFACE

On WGN radio 720 it was just stated that Linda was found near the 31st Street beach. Very sad ...

The Tepe's case has really gotten to me. And to think this 🤬🤬🤬 MM was now living here in Chicago ...edited to add: too bad the lake didn't call to him before he decided to drive to Ohio ...

About this long. Happened to my dad. Not suicide, an accident. Same weather. Took 10 days to surface.

Wow very sad

Some people owe her husband an apology. I heard lots of disparaging remarks on different websites.

Depends on what the coroner rules before anyone is ruled out. I dont think they have commented or called it a suicide definitively or have they?

Agreed. I was VERY on the fence at first but over time became glad she had someone to love her in what looks like the darkest part of her life. I also have a direct relative with treatment resistant depression. It’s a killer. RIP.

Not directed at you just jumping off your post. This is such a tough diagnosis to be able to reign in and my heart is breaking for LB's husband, based on the hateful judgement he received on line, and her family, friends, co-workers and school community.

She broke.

It's so real and scary actually.

I'm sorry for your relative. This is often such a private and quiet decision, I wish it wasn't.

Such a sad ending to this story.

Once again the holidays may have taken their toll on a fragile mind. Add this to the stress of going back to work soon and possibly new medications, and the recipe is complete. Sigh.

Feeling for the husband and the family.

There actually seems to be some pretty good science on calculating that, based on body type, weight, and the currents and river flow. I can't find the exact article now, but in the Riley Strain disappearance (who fell into a river), the prediction was quite accurate for when his body would surface.

anyway...rest in peace, Linda. :(

Edit: NewsNation article police estimated 14-20 days, found after 14.

Rest in peace, Linda. I was so hoping she just took off for a bit.
