If this was a suicide; Then I really wouldn't slueth the why since it was his life and his choice and I do not know the man personally.

But I would be disappointed in the decision of him faking it as being killed in the line of duty. Jmo

Sure is. But I never said that. On that point, we should realize that eulogies are about as far as one can get from objective statements, and so I do not think that they are a sound basis for evaluating someone.

I think you can get a pretty good sense about how someone lived their life and how they treated others by the turnout and reaction to their death. I have been to funerals where no one seemed all that upset. And I have been to others where it was obvious how much the person was loved and respected.

Oh,oh,.......confused, here. He spoke to the kid the night before he died, after he had spoken to the mayor. He texted the mayor the night before he died but the mayor did not text back. After the school was locked down, the kid texted Joe.......but Joe was dead. Is this correct? JMO

Yep.
Joe met with Mayor during the day on Aug 31.
Joe spoke to the kid regarding Inventory on the night of Aug 31.
Joe texted the mayor on the night of Aug 31 but the mayor did not respond.
Joe was dead by 8am Sept 1
Mayor rang and texted Joe that morning sept 1 but no response.
The kid texted Joe morning and afternoon of Sept 1 and no response.

We are going on now at the very least 45 days of reviewing the inventory of the Explorers.

Do we really think they have spent 45 days actively reviewing it? Or was it simply locked down while they dealt with other more pressing concerns?

And I chose to base my opinion on EVERYTHING I heard said about him by the public that he served, the teens he mentored and the family he left behind. I have seen no comments on msm saying that he was a shady jerk or that he was a phony. Everyone spoke of his down to earth attitude and his wild sense of humor and his dedication to others. JMO

But it's just your opinion. Others might base theirs on the objective information and might not have the same opinion. People also speculate and come up with theories based on it. Not everyone is going to agree or interpret the information the same way, which is a good thing because otherwise what would we discuss?

If the top brass thought there was a big problem with the inventory of the Explorers, would thay have had the public meeting where they praised their past leader?

Of course. We all have our own opinions. But at the same time, this is a victim friendly forum. And so if we want to express an opinion that is very negative about the victim and/or the surviving family, then we should have it based upon some tangible evidence. Otherwise it is just bashing with no basis for the accusations, imo. :cow:

That's what I got from it. Not sure when the last time he actually spoke to the mayor was, only that he'd sent a text to him the night before. (For the Mayor's sake I hope it wasn't something... well, I hope it was just a regular, typical text about something unrelated to whatever happened to him.)

Are some of you saying that he killed himself over missing inventory from the boyscouts E program?

Are you guys joking or what. Lol

It would seem so.

I for one am not saying that. I'm curious about everything that was going on, but I'm certainly not trying to say he was a bad guy. And of course if he was murdered who knows what came into play or what the motive was?

So no, I'm not joking.

eta: Missing inventory seems trivial on the surface and we do not know whether or not anything was missing at all. So again, I'm not suggesting he killed himself over some missing orange vests.

I am not saying anything. I never thought the inventory had any significance until I found that curious quote today.
And why someone kills themselves sometimes makes no sense to me so I can't answer why Joe might have killed himself.

This might have had nothing to do with anything. It is just another piece of the puzzle that had not previously unearthed that I recall and which does fit in with the recent developments.

Make of it what you will.

Kind of makes me glad I never knew Joe or had any connection to him and sorry for anyone who did or does. Seems they are all fair game :(

Does Fox Lake PD get some military inventory from the Feds? Isn't there some Fed program that distributes used military equipment to applying PD's? I don't know the name of the program, or even if it continues, but last year there was talk about it in reference to Ferguson. Anyone know? JMO

I do not believe this investigation has anything to do with missing inventory. That is spin they want us to think it is based on the standard inventory check.

I think what Joe feared was something to do with explorers but not that.

OK> so what is it that he feared in terms of the Explorers?

What was the date on the first post? We just found out about the inventory text today, didn't we?

So who knows.

I want to say that in no way do I believe that Captain Arbay had anything to do with any missing inventory.

I just want that out there before insinuations of what I might have said or people think was said get spread beyond all control.
