A Peoria County Coroner said the bodies of Susan Brill de Ramirez and Antonio Ramirez Barron were recovered Tuesday from the Spoon River. The bodies, Harwood said, were found in the water and resting up against a river bank.

A Judge set bond for Ramirez at $3 million and a preliminary hearing date of Nov. 29.

Second man also held on $3 million bond in double murder of Bradley professor and her husband in rural Princeville

PEORIA — A judge Wednesday ordered a second man be held under $3 million bond in the double murder of a Princeville couple.

Matthew Roberts, 20, of 210 North St., Princeville, faces two counts for first-degree murder in the slayings of Bradley University professor Susan Brill de Ramirez and her husband, Antonio Ramirez Barron, who also worked at the university. Until Tuesday night, Roberts faced two far less serious charges, obstruction of justice and concealment of a homicidal death. Those charges were dropped in favor of the murder counts after authorities concluded Roberts played a more active role in the killings.

If convicted of both slayings, each could face up to life in prison. Each will appear at Nov. 29 preliminary hearings.

The victims suffered crushed skulls and multiple stabbings, Kenny said. Ramirez and Roberts considered trying to clean up a bloody scene, but instead decided to dump the bodies and stage a robbery, Kenny said.

PEORIA, Il. - The son of a Princeville couple who worked at Bradley University was indicted on Tuesday for his parents death.

Jose Ramirez, 21, faces two counts of first-degree murder that allege he used a bat and knife to kill Susan Brill De Ramirez and Antonio Ramirez Barron.
