AURORA, Ill.— Update: Aurora police officials say plans are underway for another ground search for Timmothy Pitzen, but it most likely will not take place until after the Memorial Day holiday. Officials hope to search an area near Sterling, Illinois around Route 40. Timmothy's mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen, placed a call on her cell phone in that area on May 13.

New surveillance video may give investigators clues into the whereabouts of a missing 6-year-old boy from Aurora.

The latest video shows Amy Fry-Pitzen and her son Timmothy, checking out of the Kalahari Resort at Wisconsin Dells on Friday, May 13 at 10:10 a.m. This was the last time the two were seen together.

The previous article said search will end after Memorial Day Weekend. This one seems to say they will wait until after the Memorial Day Weekend to pick it back up.

I'm hoping that there will be some sort of break in this case over the holiday weekend. A lot more people will be out and about, and maybe they'll find something.

TY Blazet for the updated article. I gotta say wow! with the discrepancies in the media with this story, the search is on then it's off. Even the above article you linked in post #259 states that Timm's father reported them missing on Wednesday the 11th and we know that to not be true - the missing persons report is dated Thursday the 12th.

I hope the cool weather doesn't keep people home. At least the entire weekend isn't supposed to be this cold! I have the furnace back on as it went down to just under 40 last night.

If anyone sees info about the family holding vigils or seeking volunteers to search or paper the area's he may be please add them here!

I have to keep working this in my head, I just believe he's out here somewhere....
-Amy cared dearly for her son
-LE knows based on mileage gas, that she didn't drive much further than NW Sterling area
-Based on time, she couldn't have gone much further west (Iowa) prior to the Sterling calls
-Timmy was with her in the Sterling area
-Missing items, the note....that's enough to suspect he's not dead
-She gave him to someone to protect him.....in her opinoin/state of mind
-She would have had to meet this person some where likely no more than 3 hour drive...gas/mileage should tell this , therefore....I'm assuming she didn't go far....
-Therefore, her and Timmy spent the rest of the day together somewhere
-Cell phone bill would show calls, so either someone she called and LE has interviewed has him, or she called/contacted some other way, i.e. pay phone, etc.
-They must have had a meeting place, this is where they may have waited for someone
-There has to be some contact with someone at some point to meet up, keep checking the computers, websites, emails, work phone log, etc.
-Keep probing for what was causing the marital strife, as reported...why didn't she bring Timmothy to the place/people he knows if she cared soo much about him?

I just have to think there's so much more to this story then she gave him away and took her life....something (in her mind, as unsound as it might have been) caused her to believe Timmothy couldn't go home and she could not go on....

Don't give up, I think he's still with us!

One thing I'm wondering about after reading this is people seeking children to adopt. Is there an easy way people can connect with eachother that does not go through an organization? I adopted a daughter when she was 4, but that was through DCS in Indy.

This may be going out on a limb big time ...

But what about mennonite or amish communities? This would be a safe place, they are some of the best adopters, wouldn't necessarily be in touch with the outside world to see what has happened, and there is a mennonite community and Fairfield Amish \ Mennonite school on Rt 40, about 20 min South of Sterling in Deer Grove. There are Amish and Mennonite churches and schools all over Sterling now that I google it.

Mennonites are more plugged in than Amish in that they allow technology. But both communities look to be big into adoption ...

There's even a question posted on Cha-Cha in late April asking if Amish will adopt non Amish children. Wish I could see where the post came from!

Has anyone brought up airports in the areas? I did a check on Sterling, and I am really interested in airport video camera footage. Also, you know they would have footage if he was in an airport due to all the new security regulations. The fact he hasn't been found leads me to believe that he is no longer in the area.

BBM. The Sterling calls were made at approximately 1-1:30pm. If she left the Dells about 10:10am (both times per MSM) she would not have enough time to have driven past Sterling onto IA and then back to Sterling. We looked at the traveling time early on and she'd have just about enough time to get from WI Dells to Sterling at about 1:30. So technically, no one knows where Timmy and Amy where after those last calls/last time the cell pinged. There is still a good 6.5 hours (1:30 or so last cell ping) to 8pm (Family Dollar Surveillance) when she was purchasing the pens, paper and envelopes. That is a huge window... there is a lot of things she could have done during that time.

What we don't know which is important is how many miles total she put on the car between the LaGrange Shop and when the car was found. And if the number of miles on the car indicate she made at least one gas purchase with cash - which could indicate she made other cash purchases as well that could narrow the timeline.


I'm praying against all odds he is found safely, but statistically it's not likely to happen.

Good points regarding the airport. I'd hope LE has checked passenger lists for outgoing flights that day. IF a child were to fly, I believe the airlines would not let a child fly alone without arrangements made for someone to be meeting the child at the gate. She could get him on a domestic flight without both parents signatures (last I knew only international flights needed both parents permission.) Though I think she would have needed a birth certificate as form of ID for a child to fly either domestically or internationally.

Well I'm in Iowa and I don't know of anyone who has heard about him besides my friend that are on WS's.
We have some Amish communities in Iowa as well. Mennonites too.

Jim and Amy both met in Iowa and moved to Aurora after Timmothy was born from what Im seeing. Could shed some light why she would gravitate that way.

My mom lives in NW IL and has not heard about the case either... about 70 miles west of Rockford.

I think the reason for Rockford is still a mystery. If she came down to Sterling for Wisconsin Dells the google maps route would have put her right through Rockford in which case she would have doubled back after making the calls. It makes me feel like she went towards Sterling with a purpose, and killing her son doesnt seem like a purpose that would warrant that given, as others have said, there are many remote areas between wisconsin dells and Rockford.

If she were just meandering randomly that might make more sense, but the other patterns seem to support this was thought out.

I was thinking though, on a regular plane such as American Airlines, I flew with my daughter and didn't need a birth certificate, only an ID and our tickets. If he was not resistant because he knew the person it wouldn't raise a red flag. Also, what about the small private airports? If someone had their own private plane, I don't think anyone would check anything except maybe the the flight plan. Were any close friends or family pilots?

Do we have any way of knowing if LE has spoken to the Amish community or is there anyone in the area who can?

I'm tempted to take a few days and drive out there to do some legwork. My wife already thinks I'm obsessed.

I'm sure LE has the info on everyone she was in contact with by now, via phone or computer. Surely a complete stranger would not take a child away from a mother on a mother's word alone? And there is no reason to believe she hooked up with any sort of illegal adooption rings or agencies, etc...?

Sadly, I think Timothy is deceased and that his mother may have either not wanted it to be obvious she killed him, or had already done so before deciding to kill herself. Either way, the note could be a way to avoid admitting what she had done. But there must have been something very wrong (besides the obvious) with the relationship with her husband, if she killed her child and yet left him not knowing for sure.

"There are a lot of people out there that think that if you don't find the child in 24 hours, or in two weeks, that you won't find the child. That's just not true," said Ernie Allen, president of the center, which has been working closely with local, state and federal investigators to find Timmothy Pitzen.

The Virginia-based group has partnered with letter carriers and Wal-Mart stores to hang posters with photos of the boy, especially around Aurora, Wisconsin Dells and Sterling, where police have determined he stopped with his mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen, before his disappearance.
