Thank you media for asking about the sticks and why did they not find blood!!

 • #343
PC: If the stick went through her neck, why didn't the dogs find that?

I'm not a dog expert.

3 counts of murder? Who are the other 2 victims? Can only be charged with murder once with one victim. Right?

In interviews with investigators with the Illinois State Police, Justin DeRyke said he had been in his bedroom playing video games for much of the night before leaving his room to go into the bathroom to masturbate and watch pornographic films. Upon leaving the bathroom, Long grabbed his arm to bring him downstairs to watch television and scratched DeRyke's arm, drawing blood.

DeRyke said he was angry at seeing blood and chased Long. She fled the house and ran to a brush pile. She fell into the pile and was impaled through the neck with a branch. DeRyke said Long was twitching and he "believed he had to put her out of her misery." DeRyke then slashed her throat and said he stabbed her multiple times, aiming for the heart before wrapping her body in garbage bags, sealing them with duct tape and dropping her body in a body of water south of Watson.

Kibler said the body was found by volunteers at around 7:30 p.m. Monday and a small hole in the bag revealed an elbow, with the size of the bags indicating the remains inside may be those of a child. The bags were not opened at the scene and were instead sent to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for an autopsy.

(Snipped for length)

Omg... Masturbating and watching pornographic films. Someone needs to ASK if there was evidence of sexual assault. I haven't gone there until just now. I didn't want my mind to go there, but... Now I can't help it.

Russell Kinsaul ‏@russellkinsaul now

Court docs: Willow Long fell on a stick that went into throat, then uncle,
Justin DeRyke slit her throat & stabbed her in heart & throat. :thud:

Times like these, I lose all compassion for the killer and want them to suffer!!!

This websleuths site, I like it, but I feel like if I say what I'm really thinking I'm going to have a billion people jump all over me...not a good feeling.

Thank you to those of you supplying the rest of us with information.

If you go back to thread #1, first few pages, you will see where I tried to carefully ask some questions, b/c this case jumped out at me as pure devasti on from the get go... I wanted to say what I thought, but felt the SAME as you!

Still not answering questions on if there will be arrest for false statements. They keep saying that is "speculative."

 • #352
Reporter asking if someone lies to police is that an arrestable offense?

Speculative, not going to say anything to that... All we have gotton is the evidence related to Willow

 • #353
"Now you're asking speculative stuff, all that we have is evidence as it relates to Willow."

Charged murder counts based on murder three different ways. Complexity of law.

The autopsy identified the body as Willow Long's and revealed multiple cuts, including a slash across her throat, two stab wounds across her chest bone, one which severed her subclavical vein and was the probable cause of death, and multiple cuts across her arms, indicating that there may have been a struggle.

With the evidence available, Judge Sherri L.T. Lungate ruled probable cause for three counts of first degree murder had been established and set DeRyke's bond at $5 million with the stipulation that he not return to the family's home in Watson, have contact with Ciara DeRyke or Nathan Grant and would not have contact with anyone under the age of 18. The sentencing for those charges range from 20 to 100 years in prison or could be ruled as a life sentence.

From the Effingham Daily Newspaper online.

I was thinking a rage killing after hearing about multiple stab wounds. He must have been angry about something. What worries me is that he makes it a point to say he was in the mood for 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and masturbation... :(

Evil. Pure evil. That's what J is.

He was her uncle. He should have been as much a protector as her own mom. Since dad lives in another state, uncle J should have been the male roll model in her little life. But sadly, she died defending herself from him.

There has to be something in his past, some anti-social behavior, some psychotic episodes that could have--should have--been a warning that he was not safe. That he shouldn't be left alone with these precious littles. I'm not blaming the victims but this can't be the first time he's acted out. Can it?

Thank You!! :woohoo:

I have 2 questions, where is the crime scene. Inside the home, outside front yard or back yard, woods, car? He had access to trash bags, so home? SWIS? There has to be blood, alot of it, somewhere
And could "series of bags" just mean double bagged not separate bags? I do not enjoy asking these questions but with every answer comes 5 more questions.

I'm also starting to believe he is a psychopath. He played video games, got aroused, went to the bathroom to masturbate. Some video games use anime characters, which do resemble young, underage girls.

I am still absolutely convinced sexual assault occurred and could be added to the charges later. I'm thinking DNA evidence will have to come back first.
