In interviews with investigators with the Illinois State Police, Justin DeRyke said he had been in his bedroom playing video games for much of the night before leaving his room to go into the bathroom to masturbate and watch pornographic films. Upon leaving the bathroom, Long grabbed his arm to bring him downstairs to watch television and scratched DeRyke's arm, drawing blood.

DeRyke said he was angry at seeing blood and chased Long. She fled the house and ran to a brush pile. She fell into the pile and was impaled through the neck with a branch. DeRyke said Long was twitching and he "believed he had to put her out of her misery." DeRyke then slashed her throat and said he stabbed her multiple times, aiming for the heart before wrapping her body in garbage bags, sealing them with duct tape and dropping her body in a body of water south of Watson.

Kibler said the body was found by volunteers at around 7:30 p.m. Monday and a small hole in the bag revealed an elbow, with the size of the bags indicating the remains inside may be those of a child. The bags were not opened at the scene and were instead sent to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for an autopsy.

The autopsy identified the body as Willow Long's and revealed multiple cuts, including a slash across her throat, two stab wounds across her chest bone, one which severed her subclavical vein and was the probable cause of death, and multiple cuts across her arms, indicating that there may have been a struggle.

With the evidence available, Judge Sherri L.T. Lungate ruled probable cause for three counts of first degree murder had been established and set DeRyke's bond at $5 million with the stipulation that he not return to the family's home in Watson, have contact with Ciara DeRyke or Nathan Grant and would not have contact with anyone under the age of 18. The sentencing for those charges range from 20 to 100 years in prison or could be ruled as a life sentence.

Interesting that the autospy doesn't say anything about a puncture wound to the neck that traveled to the brain and looks like it was caused by a stick. That stupid stick story still has me fuming.

Five million dollar bond set for Justin DeRyke. Three charges first degree murder. Willow Long was found in a series of garbage bags submerged in a small body of water South of Watson. She was stabbed multiple times. Her throat slit and multiple cuts on her arm.

I believe she fell on the pile of debris that was shown, in her grandfather's back yard. Why or how she got to the pile of debris I don't know. I believe she impaled herself on a stick and I believe it went up through her neck and caused her airway to be blocked and she could not breathe. I believe her little brother was outside and witnessed this portion of it or he would not have been so devastated and distraught. I also believe JD's account of her twitching. I believe JD is a moviewatcher and a gamer, and I believe his first reaction was "Oh **** she can't breathe" so he raced into the house to find something to get her airway open...grabbing her little bro at the same time and demanding he stay in the house unless he wanted a major spanking. What he should have done was dial 911 instead of trying to play hero, but this is MY opinion and I'm entitled to it just like everyone else. I think he grabbed a knife (stupidly) and ran outside to get her airway open...and failed miserably. It said her throat was slashed. I think he caused further damage at this time, and it became clear to him that he screwed up. So then he's not only freaking out that Willow is mortally wounded, but now he's freaking out because he just made a BAD situation much..much worse. I think at this point is when he killed her by stabbing her in the chest because he was angry he was a failface at saving her and flipping out...and knowing she was dead either way. I think the chest stabbing was the rage/psycho killing that ended her life...ultimately. I don't think those cuts on her arm were defense cuts, I think they were minor multiple cuts from that large pile of debris in the backyard that we have photos of in the archive that AmandaReckonwith has so nicely provided for us. With regard to the slashed neck, I believe he most likely will lie (if he hasn't already) and he'll say he slit her throat. He's a young man full of hormones and quite honestly I believe he's the type of person who would rather lie and say he slashed her throat than EVER admit he FAILED at saving someone. He then came down off his psycho trip perhaps and attempted (poorly) to rid the body and hide the evidence.

as far a knife...do you have the knife in custody...analysis: no comment

Without being too graphic, a branch or stick would leave shards of wood, or splinters in body tissue. It should be fairly easy for the coroner to find.

Confused me. I hear 3 COUNTS of anything, I think three separate acts. There are many ways to break into a car or steal or battery. Wouldn't say three counts of battery, would say aggravated battery or battery or felony battery. Not 3 counts of battery with one victim. I'm confused. Person can only die once, so having 3 charges of murder looks like she died, was brought back, and murdered, brought back and murdered again.

I think that it means, ugh I'm not going to explain this well. But slashed throat, stab to the heart, stab to the chest. All 3 individually would have been fatal.

I do not see any way that this little angel ran and stumbled and impaled herself with enough force to have a stick go through her head or even the softer tissues of her neck.

She only stood a few feet off of the ground, weighed only about 40lbs., and would have had to have been running with the speed of a bullet.

That stick would have needed to have been chiseled into a sharp point and been coming at her with tremendous force.

The grandfather must be devastated. I know he didn't want to believe his own son would do something so horrific to his own granddaughter.

This is just heartbreaking....

Could poor Willow have been THROWN hard enough into the wood pile to have been impaled by a stick?

I beleive the crime scene HAD to occur somewhere else. The dogs would have hit on blood in the yard.

I do not, for one second, believe she scratched his arm enough to draw blood. Not at first- only once she was fighting for her life.

I took my boys out for a bit, just for some sunshine and fresh air. I am just... so sad to get back to this. I didn't really believe the accident statement, but I wanted to.

I just totally do not believe it now.

He needs to be put out of HIS misery. His miserable, pathetic life.

My home looks single story as well if looked at from the road. The back side, however, looks two story. It's a split level with a basement on the back half. I am assuming this house is built close to the same way.
