I have also found two sets of maps for the steam tunnels underneath the college. the access point to one of the steam tunnels is the Loomis building where BC worked
That is seriously exciting sleuthing..
What is the terrain like within the tunnels? Wet or dry?.. are they straight lines or with nooks and crannies? Would the local students typically be familiar with them, use them for parties and the like?

  • #902
yes a lot of nooks and crannies and a second set of older tunnels that most people don't have access to. college kids have throughout the years have snuck down there.

Crimestoppers are mentioned a lot here. I am not familiar with them personally but I wonder if its worthwhile contacting them again, just in case?
Are the tunnels relatively dry interiorly?

  • #904
some of the tunnels are dry however there is places that you have to crawl through the dirt and tight spaces to access the older tunnels

On the web under University of Illinois steam tunnels you can find maps and pictures

are the entrances in full public view?
suppose he did not kill her immediately but held a weapon to her, could he have calmly walked her in there without drawing too much attention to himself, do you think? Then again he may have left it until nightfall.. what are the possibilities? I still think it would seem strange if he were to carry her body in there, whereas a couple going down there might not have appeared unusual..?

Does anyone know if BC has a dog, or if boating is one his interests?

  • #908
Most of the access points are in the basements of the college buildings. Some are on the streets where construction is being done. when I was doing my search of the area I found a possible place where she could have been left. a lot of Clues there however I am not a professional just a father, the clothes were turned over to LE for them I decide.

Clues not clothes

His apartment complex only had notices allowing cats and birds. I dont know about a boat. But I have not got through all the older threads here yet.. there was a tremendous amount of quality sleuthing done. Have a look if you have time, and you are most welcome, btw.

So, to gain entry would he have had to drive back into the college grounds, possibly pass campus police to gain access?

  • #912
There are multiple access to the tunnels you can get there undetected because college kids has.

Stick around.. somebody will appear with good info.. check out the campus police facebook page too.. If you live in the area you could even go see them I'd imagine..
The heat came on him after 3 days. And after 3 days, it is unlikely he saw her again.
Do you have any theories as to why he took her and how long he had planned holding her?

Only a single CCTV camera apparently picked him up in his car that day. Is there any route to the tunnel entrance that he could have taken which would have avoided coming into sight of another cctv en route? A way he could have slipped off roads containing cctv almost immediately after getting her in the car and headed straight for the tunnels?

No I do not know why he took her however on the 11th is when I found a book bag at Wolf Creek in Shelbyville and then when the pictures was posted of BC I could have swore that is where I also seen him. That is what got me interested in this case. I believe he did not go straight to the tunnels but instead placed her elsewhere until a later date or at night time. Just a guess. I found a location that fits that description. I have not heard from LE, if the information I showed them was relevant or not. Is just appalling that we cannot do more to help.

I have read all the threads in past days, threads 48 & 50 are very interesting because that's where I found on my Clues and found almost all things in those threads. That is when I begin my search but it amazes me the total media blackout and lack of information coming from investigators about this case. This seems like the only place to get information on trying to find this young girl.
Do you feel at liberty to give out any more details about your "clues"???...
And I too was amazed by the lack of media coverage early on... some newspapers & cable stations apparently had stories, but I follow NPR (& other radio stations), NBC, CBS, and ABC, and heard nothing of this crime 'til I ran across it on the Web 2 weeks after the abduction (...young coed kidnapped on college campus in broad daylight... that usually draws EVERYbody!)
The only other case I follow closely here is the unsolved brutal Faith Hedgepeth murder, approaching it's 5th anniversary, which also suffered from the lack of LE information/disclosure early on. Disappointing.

Looks to me like Shelbyville/WolfCreek is about an hour or less outside of Champaign -- is that about right? Do you live down that way, or were just there for recreation? And was the person who looked like BC by himself or with any other individuals (and what were they doing?), or see his car, or anything else of note?

<modsnip>I followed a road that had Castle like buildings on it and it was named Old Church Road. Doing the search around that area I discovered a residence which had a basement and a light shining through, in that basement there was an abundance of plastic, a hope chest big enough for a body, a piece of carpet, and not a white bowl with blue trim but a white ball laying right beside it, with a blue stripe. I also found in the trash a mask resembling a bondage mask. The walls were pale and the ground was Earthly. The stuff was in a small dark corner. <modsnip>I also do not believe she was ever at the apartment because it is too populated, the gas station right beside there has security cameras along with stop lights along that route. The maps of the steam tunnels lead right down to where the memorial was held. There is also chemicals stored down there and a gravesite that the college kids used to prank other college kids. It seems too much to be a coincidence that none of this is connected.

Yes I was at Shelbyville for recreation we live close to Champaign. If it was BC that I saw he was with a female companion and dog. They got on a boat and left. I did search some islands at Shelbyville. But did not find anything by myself it's too large of an area.
