Just to be clear, everyone, this is the comment about the cart to which I referred:

"Investigators quickly focused on the warehouse — marked by shattered windows and overgrown grass and brush — after learning Irvin had been seen nearby pulling a cart four days before his remains were found.
Pierson, according to the warrant papers, told authorities during questioning that he lived at the warehouse....."
This makes it sound as if Zachary might have been visiting at the warehouse or even sleeping there for a couple of days before his death. Surely someone other than Pierson and Iagulli saw him as someone did report seeing him with the cart. I also found a reference to the fact that he had gone to numerous shelters in the area, not just Rice's:

"....The three men then walked across a Mississippi River bridge to East St. Louis to the warehouse, where Baker believed the men got into a second argument and one of them shot Irvin. The large warehouse is a known spot where homeless people tend to gather, and Baker said Irvin willingly went to the warehouse...."
"According to Baker, Irvin took a bus to St. Louis from the St. Elmo area at the beginning of the week of June 20, and like most of the homeless, he had been traveling to and from various homeless shelters in downtown St. Louis and East St. Louis...."
These facts still leave me with several questions? Who all knew that Zachary was staying at or visiting the warehouse? Were any of them witnesses to the argument, the murder, or the horrible events that followed? Why was Zachary pulling (I erred in that he was seen pulling, not pushing) the cart and what was on the cart?
Being that Zachary had stopped in at other shelters, I would think that there would be more witness accounts about what this young man was doing. Was he volunteering to help the homeless? Looking for a job? Witnessing his faith?
I'm not pleased that the LE and courts seem to be moving so quickly. There have to be far more witnesses and information out there which could help prevent this from happening again or give closure to some aching family wondering about their child.
I also wonder why we haven't heard from any of the officers who used the shooting range adjacent to the warehouse. Could they honestly have not known about these events?

Authorities have not divulged a possible motive in the killing, which surfaced June 22 when workers at a trucking company found human remains — a head, torso and leg — burning in a small metal cart near the East St. Louis police firing range, directly south of the warehouse.
