IN - 8 Dead at Indianapolis FedEx Facility Mass Shooting, 15 Apr 2021

  • #61
I worked downtown for ten years and loved it. Walked all around on my lunch break, enjoyed visiting different restaurants and shops.

But with the increase in crime downtown, windows still boarded up after the “peaceful” protests, and many stores and restaurants permanently closed, I am happy not to be working there any longer.
I'm from Indy and it has definitely changed since I left in 2004.

You are so valuable to all of us, Dixie.

You did so well again. Thank you again for all you do for us.

I wonder if he also had a handgun? It's more difficult to shoot oneself with a rifle.

Of course other mass shooters have used handguns. Iirc the VA-Tech shooter murdered 30 or more with one.

So I wonder if this one also brought a handgun with him along with the rifle. He could hide it more easily once he entered at the front part of the facility.

Thank God he wasn't able to breech into the main area where many employees were.

Imo, he's going to be another injustice collector. It seems so many of them are turning to mass murder.

It's as if they go on a murderous rampage because they REFUSE to blame themselves about anything, and instead take it out on those who arent to blame. Or they can't stand being told no about anything or even hearing constructive criticism. They tend to be dangerously thin skinned who can be offended about most everything, imo.

So we wait to learn who he is and the names of the innocent victims he murdered in cold blood, and the names of the injured.

Did anyone listen to the press conference? I missed it, but there's something on Twitter that states the FBI has been to the shooter's home yet they don't know who he is. How is that possible if they've identified his home?!

Like the Boulder grocery store killer, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, they probably already know it. The case is in it's infancy, so very little beyond a name will come out in the next day. Then once released, just like in Al Aliwi Alissa's case, you probably won't be getting any further bits of information.

IMO, the current climate that everyone is a victim ( of something, anything, you name it) is adding fuel to these injustice collectors. And creating more. The poor poor me stuff has got to stop.

Victim with gun may have tried to stop FedEx shooter: witness

RIP to this good man who tried to stop the killer, with his own self-defense gun. :(

Yes, Coffee, this man died a hero for trying to protect his coworkers.

It's so incredibly hard to shoot a suspect who has a high powered rifle which may have been a fully automatic.

And if this hero had a handgun he would have to be much closer to the suspect to even hit him since it doesn't have nearly the range a rifle does.

But, he died trying his best to save others. He was willing to give his own life to save his people.

Others with a legal firearm have been able to stop crazed shooters before. I wished he had succeeded too, but he was outnumbered in fire power by an evil man hellbent on killing as many as he could. :(

May he rest in gentle peace.

I couldn't agree with you more Suzie!

I'm so tired of seeing so many crying they are victims.

I also think this cold blooded mass murder thought of himself as a victim. Several of them do.

Many times they aren't victims at all, but turnout to be victimizers themselves.

The coroner just arrived about half an hour ago. The bodies haven't been moved yet; 4 inside and 4 outside. Some of the cars had gunshots in the windows.

INDIANAPOLIS: CNN: FedEx mass shooting suspect was known to federal and local authorities, as a family member reached out warning about the potential for violence.

Uh oh...

WTHR13 had live coverage for several hours. One of the reporters said LE searched a home on the far east side this morning. He gave a street where the home was located but I'm not sure if I heard him correctly so I won't repeat it.

The couple of people I've seen interviewed were white; one was a father who couldn't contact his son and the other was the witness.

What I understood from the PC was they don't have a positive ID. But, they think they know who it is. moo

They may have tracked the shooter's license plate from the vehicle he used to drive there.

As @oceanblueeyes posted earlier, the F.B.I. did say during the press conference that they were already at his house searching.

Sounds like the Law Enforcement standard practice is that they don't release the name until the Coroner confirms it. I could be wrong but it looks that way. JMO

I mentioned that this morning.

I knew the bodies would lay there for many hours. It's usually from 10 to 12 hours for most cases before bodies are removed after the ME comes to the scene. The ME closely inspects each body. When the ME is called it usually means LE is closer to collecting the evidence right around each victim.

Until the ME arrives, and does their preliminary onsite examination the bodies can't be touched nor turned over by LE whether found face down or up. So once that is done it leaves more work to be done by LE afterwards.

Every piece of evidence must be carefully documented including the bodies of the victims and shooter. All evidence collected must be carefully sealed, and labeled. It really is a long tedious process.

However, it has to be agonizing for all family members of all the innocent victims who wait.

I'm sure they have a LEO officer assigned to explain everything to the grieving families about why it's taking so long for them to be transported to the MEs office for autopsies.

My heart breaks for them all, and the citizens of Indy.

The audio on all of the feeds I've tried has been TERRIBLE.

I did hear that they haven't id'd the shooter, but they did a search of his house?

The PBS link that @dotr added seemed (a little) better.

You aren't wrong my sweet friend.

There are so many ways to identify the shooter. If an employee or ex employee I have no doubt witnesses made visual ID along with the examples you've given.

They certainly already know who he is. The FBI must go to a judge to get a SW. They must have probable cause for the judge to approve it. It includes the name, and address of the subject.

I'm shocked really that the media hasn't already found out his name or that it hasnt been said on social media. It usually leaks out before LE announces the name.

I'm surprised it hasn't already been leaked in this particular case since at least one worker said he definitely worked there.

OT:
Oh goodness there is something bad happening in San Antonio now. Know of at least eight shots fired. Officer involved shooting. A parks police officer yesterday took down a mass shooter who was firing at people. Doesn't know if yesterday's takedown is related to today's shooting. Schools on lockdown.

Update;
Normal traffic stop. He had been casually chatting with the driver when he all of a sudden drew gun, and fired hitting the officer in the hand. The officer was able to get away from the vehicle, and return fire. Three suspects in vehicle. Two suspects deceased. One in hospital.

Thank God he survived. There is no such thing as a routine traffic stop.

Yes, they knew the Atlanta shooters name pretty quickly too. Robert Aaron Long, but both of these mass shooters lived to tell who they were.

The shooter was only 19 years old.

The FBI and other LE agencies already knows the name of this mass shooter.

Just because he took the cowardly way out it doesn't stop LE from IDing him.

They knew who he is this morning when the FBI agent said they were searching him home then. That was at 10:30, and they knew before then. Imo

How it hasn't leaked out is puzzling or the media hasn't found out who he is especially when a coworker ..who was there ..said the shooter was definitely an employee there.

If this young man knows he was employed there then many of the other employees knows him too.

That's why it's odd his name hasn't already been leaked especially with social media. We usually know the shooters name before LE confirms it whether the suspect is dead or alive.

Could media/LE be holding out on releasing the name because they are in process of notifying next of kin?
