Having worn a catheter for a year I strongly agree that is not a long plastic catheter bag tube under his jeans. See photo provided for reference. I have often wondered if it is a crow bar /wrecking bar to use as a weapon. I’ve also thought it could be a rifle but I don’t know enough about guns to comment.
I can't believe you said crowbar and rifle. Those are exactly what went through my mind as well! Same as you, I don't know much about rifle barrels.

It looks long and hard and I'm certain it's not his "Willy" :) Not meant to be crude, just sayin'.
Crude, no. Funny? Absolutely hysterical. I have tears rolling down my face.

I truly believe that there is nothing in his jeans.

It would be incredibly awkward to walk with something like that (gun, sharp weapon, etc), and it would have been unnecessary.
You may be right MG, but tomorrow morning I'm going find the crowbar that looks like the one @gregjrichards posted and put on a pair of my hubby's pants and see what it looks like when I walk :)

Haaaa. Don’t hurt yourself.

I promise that it won’t be comfortable.

I don’t think he has anything stuffed down his right pant leg. I think he is starting to turn left as his left foot was placed down pointing to the left. As he picks up his right foot the fabric of the right pant leg is stretched and causes the long ripple in the fabric from crotch to the knee.
Not sure if he has skinny legs or not but the jeans appear to be relaxed fit and maybe a size too big.
Totally agree...both pant legs at some point look like there is something in his pants. An optical illusion if you ask me...just baggy pant legs.

Please be careful can you imagine explaining your injury in the emergency room.

I would say that for whatever reason, his pants are too big but I don't think at all it is due to that loose style of jeans that some young people have! It could be that the pants are not his, he has lost weight recently or whatever, they just don't look 'right.'! I think that weird crease is due to the ill fitting pants.
BBM I was thinking that the clothes not fitting. Could it be he got some clothing from someones Laundry either from a clothes line or dryer?**MOO**

On a more serious note, why not a crowbar? We suspect he used a gun to get the girls to go "down the hill." Of course, he knew there were others on the trail that day. He didn't want to use a gun and alert anyone to his presence and what he was up to. We don't know the COD. What if he considered the possibility of crossing paths with another adult on his escape or if interrupted? How would he handle that if he didn't want to fire a gun or rifle? Just a thought that ran through my muddled brain :)

He may not have thought that far ahead. If everything went right, he would have come and gone undetected.

If confronted, I think he would have run.

I'd like to hear why you think it's not possible that he's a serial killer.

For the record, I don't think he is either.

I am curious as well...what do you think?

I just rewatched the video of him walking. IMO it looks like something solid. At the point where he bends his leg, it looks like the object is still there and poking the jeans at the knee.

Looking at it again, I wonder myself. How he traversed the bridge with something like an axe in his pants is hard to get, but it could be. Not ready to rule it out at present.
I’m thinking it may not have been that difficult if the object was taped to his leg and if he had practice walking that bridge.

I screenshot this of the video loop to focus on his legs.
WHAT is down there?

ETA I have flagged a mod to make sure my screencap is ok to post
I don't know if there is anything there or not. For the sake of discussion, let's say that there is. Could it be the outline of a leg brace? Maybe a post-op leg brace?

Maybe something like the one pictured here, being worn my a Kiwi cricketeer.

Just for comparison, I'm going to ask @bradfordsleuth if she can isolate a pic of his left leg to see if he/she can get a similar appearance. If yes, we'll know it's just his baggy jeans and we can put this to rest! ;)

I think the question of whether or not he has something stuffed down the leg of his pants also speaks to whether or not you think it was premeditated (different from targeted). Most people aren't likely to have a crowbar in their pants unless they are out looking for trouble.

MOO, it's just baggy pants

You know, I haven’t heard mention of where the footprints were spotted, but assumed they were coming up from Deer Creek to the kill spot. But you know what assuming does.

I remember, very early on, there was also a video, where a footprint was discussed.
Also, it had been stated here, that searchers followed footprints to the girls.
I hope these were ALL not just rumours, if others can remember.
MOO.

If he was able to walk those trails and bridge with a crowbar or ax stuffed down his pants, and so quickly, then he's in better shape than I've ever been. It is difficult to get across the bridge when you have nothing but loose change in there.

I hope the video image is never counted on in a court...seeing how few can agree what they can “see.” I see nothing more than a very blurry image of a man (probably) of almost any age...any weight under 200...really, almost nothing. Jmo

Perhaps he had an ailment early in his life that limited his interactions with other children because not many children understood his illness. Or that illness could have affected the job he does now, and, down deep, he doesn't want to do it. But one reason he feels like it is because dad is in the trade so there would be guilt there if he were to branch into something that he would have loved more. MOO

@BigTexas -- wondering if maybe the suspect in Libby's video perhaps had some long-time illness that affected how he walked... (the long-term effects of an illness, for example). Thus, perhaps his unique "angled turn" as captured by Libby is more reflective of (here, I hypothesize, since it's just a wild idea based on nothing solid) such an illness that may have had long-term implications for his gait (and a gait that would be, one would think, unmistakably recognizable to someone who already knows the suspect). All JMOO

One other theory that's been bouncing around in my mind is this: What if... the suspect a.) had a gf, b.) they got into some kind of an argument/break-up fight *before* or ON Feb. 13th (my apologies for not recalling specifically at least one, if not two or three others here who have postulated something similar about a possible fight with a former romantic interest), c.) the suspect went home "stomping mad", d.) decided to take an "angry walk" (similar to "venting", but...with murderous intent), and e.) took out that anger on those two sweet girls -- girls who were just out to enjoy the nicer-than-usual weather on a "snow day" from school...

n. b. In any case, wondering what locals might be familiar with a well-known and youngish-man in town/very nearby who occasionally has a bit of a limp/pain in his leg, such that he has to actually lift it in an unnatural manner as he walks... (yes, the railroad ties on the High Bridge notwithstanding; their unevenness just exacerbated/emphasized such a past illness or an injury to that leg). All just ramblings around in my head today; theoretical only.
