IMHO, it was noted in many articles and more quietly expressed within the community. Residents of Delphi and the general area were (and probably still are) terrified. moo
your quick!
I added to my reply

yes as you would have to expect them to be.
they don't know whats going on.
but I don't see clarity from LE that a predator is stalking the community at large.

At the time of that press conference the community was rightly terrified. Yes, it was strange wording, but I've always thought they were trying to not add to the fear. moo

ETA: Guess I'm just trying to point out we shouldn't assume LE had info that indicated the murders were targeted. moo

Why from the very start did they not think BG a threat to the general public? Did he SAY something on the audio that revealed that this was personal to these victims only? Or was something left at the scene or done at the scene as a kind of calling card or indicator to show that this was personal?

I did get the feeling from the start LE thought BG not a threat to others...

Is the "twist" BG leaving the phone to be found. He may have been aware that Libby had recorded him and didnt care and used the phone himself to take pictures etc to send a message and add to inflect more pain and suffering on the family

Two other points got to me after listening to the podcast:

+ At latest press conference LE stated killer in 2019 was 18-40 but could have looked much younger. That means in the lowest end this guy could have been 16 in 2017 but looked much younger. Strange.

+ LE said “you want to know what we know” how do they know that? Has he been taunting them?

Still following....

I think when it was said he was able 'to go in and out of the area quickly', they were referring to an alibi that was false. Maybe the person who alibi'd BG didn't know he had left ...his job, or his room, or his home. The murders happened fast. How long did BG need to pull this off and get back to work or home. I am saying an hour-an hour and a half tops. This makes it planned and targeted in my opinion. Also that he worked or lived nearby.

I'm not certain they said her phone was found. They retrieved the video and photo from the phone, but that can be done without having the actual device.

It's always been my opinion that a disguise was used, which is why the perp was able to "hide in plain sight" as quoted by the police at the press conference.

DNA must have been left around the site and what concerns me is that the first searchers may have ruined the crime scene.

In Aust. a little boy went missing and the whole community trod the crime scene looking for him before LE realised he’d been abducted so any evidence was lost and the dogs couldn’t pick up any scent. This was 4 years ago.

I hope this hasn’t happened in Delphi because I have a bad feeling the cops have nothing.

Another oldie interview to bump up. It is from approx. 3 weeks after the murders.

This is between Tobe Leazenby and Michael Stroup.

Lots of discussion about DNA and some about the video. Also some discussion of the possibility of more than one person being involved.

DELPHI DOUBLE MURDER UPDATE INTERVIEW WITH SHERIFF TOBE LEAZENBY - 9tube.tv

5 mins 20 seconds
"I feel confident we're going to end up in a court of law one of these days with this situation......"

The 'twist' is mentioned around 9 minutes in.
...." it's got a whole new, it's got a whole twist to it that, even I, as a 30 year veteran, have never seen."

I keep hoping to see 'Arrest' on each thread. I believe it will soon happen.

JMO

Am I wrong, or was a “twist” mentioned in a more recent presser as well?

Interesting. I’d not thought of that. A good theory IMO.

Has the couple arguing ever been talked to? I go back and fourth thinking that maybe it was the girls arguing with BG that was being heard and not the couple. Opinion and speculation. It’s just something that has crossed my mind a few times when it’s been brought up

Do we know that BG forced them in the direction of the crime scene? Perhaps they went with him willingly. Not to do anything bad, but kids/teens can be naive.

I wouldn’t have thought this was likely, but I’m bothered by how much difficult terrain and distance they had to cover. It would have been much easier for him if he had some sort of scheme to get them up there at their own free will.

Also, just trying to think outside the box since LE made a comment about us getting it all wrong (that is not a direct quote, but I will look for the link. It was about the re-enactments on YouTube etc being off-base).

I don’t get the sense that Abby and Libby were naive at all. From what I’ve heard about Libby’s personality, she didn’t seem like the type who would be afraid to tell a person “no” and get out of the situation if it made her uncomfortable. JMO

Per LE they found her phone near the bodies. moo

ISP: More audio recovered from slain Delphi teen's phone

This is interesting. Thanks for the article. I don't know if I read it and forgot about it or missed it altogther. I'm still listening to podcasts and watching YouTube videos where they claim LE never stated where the phone was found OR even if LE found it all (i.e., LE pulled the info from the cloud). Holeman comes right out - assuming he is quoted accurately - that the phone was found with the girls. This also might be the earliest where LE stated they had DNA, but working on identifying it.

This clears up a lot of rumors for me.

I’m currently still leaning heavily towards my recent theory that this, along with the difference in sketch appearances, points to a possible online persona and appearance. In which case LE is saying BG could *appear* younger.... and this new sketch of his online self is who they think someone may recognize. An online image that is not what LE had been putting forth the past 2 years. This is the “new direction”. My current working theory anyway. Subject to change of course, as I think so many of the theories and hypotheses on here are plausible!

And while I'm trying to track down facts or rumors, I'm wondering about the time given for the killer's video or photos. The Snapchat of Abigail on the bridge has been stated to be 2:07. I know I've seen times on the father's arrival at the trail to be approximately 3:00 - 3:11 is a time I remember. I don't remember if the 3:11 was when he called Liberty after arriving or his actual arrival, but I do remember reading he tried to call Liberty just prior to arriving at the trail.

What I'm wondering is where did the time of approximately 2:30 come from with regard to when Liberty took the video of the killer on the bridge?

I believe from an early FBI poster. Last seen (picture of BG from bridge video) at 2:30pm. Hopefully someone has a link.

Maybe from the video itself. My phone embeds data in media.

RSFF

The time came from (some of) the billboards.
