I don't happen to believe that BG is a serial killer but I do believe he has explosive anger issues that he struggles to control. I believe he has physically injured people in the past.

I also believe he has troubled relationships with family and friends because of his anger issues that make him unpredictable at times.

Often, men that have explosive anger issues are exhibiting symptoms of depression that manifests as anger. With these types of men, it is common for them to have had difficult relationships with either a father or a mother.

Since someone above defended having theories, here's one:

Our young offender experienced a trauma in his life. He experienced some kind of intense double-tap of powerlessness. Maybe it was something as innocuous as grades, or a missed scholarship. Others have suggested a breakup. Whatever the case, it was enough to make dark fantasies feel like solutions.

Self-concept shattered, perhaps more than he would allow others to recognize, he cultivated a revenge fantasy. Since he couldn't kill his ex, who he suspected was already seeing someone else, he would find a target.

Maybe it would be a girl three years younger, whose social media posts he followed and who he contacted anonymously using a throwaway account. A girl who rejected his advances on several occasions.

He opened Snapchat.
I think that is a good theory. So this would be a High Schooler?

I have another theory. What would you say about someone who has a connection to another location that also had a brutal unsolved double murder 3 years earlier?
So a serial killer in effect.

thanks JD:)
wouldn't it be fantastic if he did drop sunnies through the gaps in the bridge and LE retrieved them.
think it was carter iirc?? said you made mistakes.......
they have stuff.
sunnies would be a good item to have because most of us have the same pair for way too long... lol and existing pictures of the suspect wearing them likely.
I am hopeful this could be a possibility.
I know I would loose my glasses in that situation. so hard to keep them on the bridge of your nose when tilting downward.

bbm
I don't think we can read to much into the eye colour any which way MJP.
we can all see the same thing completely different.
I don't think LE would be ruling out anyone with blue eyes off of a witness description.

all moo
This could explain LE saying he left something behind. Some thought it may be his hat or scarf, therefore perhaps leaving a hair confirming it as reddish brown. Sunglasses would have DNA too. MOO.

ISP: We're 'one tip away' from solving Delphi murders

DELPHI — It's been more than two years since Liberty German and Abigail Williams were killed, but investigators continue to hold onto hope, saying they are just "one tip" away from finding their killer.

“If somebody knows something, they need to tell us," ISP Superintendent Doug Carter said. "I think they’re afraid to — it's why we have not heard yet — I think they’re afraid to.”

Carter discussed various aspects of the case, and shared many of the same sentiments he's carried over the past 27 months, in an interview with ABC News this week. One thing is certain, Carter believes that the girls' killer is watching their moves and he believes that person will slip up.

"I think the killer is following this investigation very closely," Carter said.

In a news briefing on April 22, Indiana State Police released new evidence in their investigation including a sketch of a man they say is now the main suspect in Libby and Abby's murders. The man in the first sketch, which was released in July 2017, is no longer considered a suspect.

"When we decided that, through the information we received, that we were going to release the second sketch I don’t believe the individual knew we were going to do that. So it was really, really important. I think he was probably there and/or watching, simply because he thought we were on the wrong path," Carter said.

At the same press conference, Indiana State Police also released a new short clip of the video recorded on Libby German's cell phone, and a tiny bit of new audio from the suspect. Carter believes it's important for people — possible witnesses — to see all of the evidence, not just pieces of it. He thinks somewhere in that video, audio and sketch someone will be able to piece together the killer's identity.

"The sketch isn’t a photograph. A sketch is a sketch and that’s really important for everybody to understand," Carter said. "I believe that the individual when we catch him, it will be a combination of those two.”

They also say they believe the man is from Delphi, is familiar with Delphi or works in the city.

“I’ve walked across the high bridge myself. It’s 65-70 feet off the river deck. It hasn’t had a train on it since 1929," Carter said. "The ties are starting to rot. It sways back and forth and it’s not something you can just jump on and walk straight across if you’ve never done it before. I decided I was going to take the riverbank going back, I didn’t. That wasn’t the first time he’s been on that high bridge, my opinion, again that’s my opinion. I experienced it and I kept a piece of the high bridge and I’ll carry it with me til we find out who this is."

Since that press conference, Indiana state police have received more than 3,000 new tips.

“This is very personal to me. And maybe it’s because I’m in the sunset of my career, but it’s the epitome of evil," Carter said. "Those two girls, once we tell you all we know about them you might understand a little bit more about why it’s so emotional, but I think of Abby and Libby all the time. I have their names etched in my desk. I think about them all the time, I think about their families and the community and what I saw in that community. It was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I’ve received full support from Gov. Holcomb and everybody across the street for us to do whatever we need to do.”

“I’m optimistic in humanity. I’m optimistic that the right thing happens over time and I don’t think this is any different," Carter said. "If you start losing sight of that then you allow this to just be okay and be normal and I don’t want to do that."

Indiana State Police ask anyone who has any information about Libby and Abby's murders or who recognizes the man in the image, video, audio or sketch to reach out.

Remember the following things when submitting a tip:

  • Be specific as possible to a description
  • Name and age if possible
  • A connection to Delphi and that person’s location or address at this time
  • Leaving information on how we can contact you for possible clarification of your tip is helpful but not required
The reward for information leading to the arrest of the Delphi killer is now at just over $250,000.

Someone refresh my failing memory- are we sure the “definitely not blue eyes” still stands? Or was that just before the new sketch?

I hesitate to resurrect the blue eyes discussion but I’ve now gotten confused, on the timeline itself, on whether the eye color remains in his physical description.

This is the current FBI poster. It doesn't list eye color, which makes me think the eye color is unknown. JMO. Eyes are listed on other posters, like the girls', where eye color is known.

UNKNOWN SUSPECT | Federal Bureau of Investigation

Age Approximately 18 to 40 years old but may appear younger
Hair Reddish-brown
Height 5'6" to 5'10"
Weight 180 to 200 pounds
Sex Male
Race White

I support your theory, Mike! :)
And agree that something traumatic has happened in BG's life somewhere along the line. I wish we had a better understanding of what that might be. His need for power and control (paraphrasing) was addressed in the last PC, so we know this ties directly to motive.

I know of many people who experienced severe trauma in their childhood/teen years. They are not walking around killing two innocent girls. That thought would never even occur to them. They are hard-working and law-abiding.

Evil is evil. It doesn't need to be excused.

I absolutely agree, RWS. There is no excuse for BG's actions. Although he may/may not have experienced trauma in his life, something caused BG to commit the brutal murder of two innocent girls. We don't yet know the motive for his evil actions. :(

Having looked at the FBI link referenced above, it appears they are saying the "new" sketch is to be associated with the man on the bridge. (which would debunk my very first post on this site, indicating two sketches may mean two suspects) Is it prevailing opinion that this man has a hat on? Reason I ask is, it appears to me he does not. I at first thought he was wearing a hat, but now I do not think so. That FBI photo is pretty good, he looks to be a younger guy for sure, kinda baby faced, little facial hair, a bit chubby.

Some local knows this guy. He/She needs to step up and contact authorities.

And that brown thing hanging off the front of his pants. That should be a clear indicator. Have the authorities indicated what it is? I think it's a leather fanny/waist pack.

I thought the same at first (that he's wearing a hat), but you get a slightly different angle in the video stills. So after looking more closely it looked more and more like thick hair (like the sketch shows except not out of his face). I also think you're spot on about the age and chubbiness.

I agree that whatever happened to these precious girls was about POWER.
Power over dead girls isn't much power at all. JMO

However, power over LE, prosecution and/or the public is a different matter altogether. And, I think that might be what DC was getting at.

The confusion for me is why the sketch shows a man with very curly, short, brillo pad type hair, but the video shows a man with longer, redish brown, very straight hair, Also, in the video, his front bangs appear to be very long and straight as well.

Just an observation I guess.

  • #793
What are the chances that this was dating site-related and BG had a fake profile? Apologies if this was already discussed. Libby reset her phone a week before the murder due to it not working correctly as was claimed. She was using her grandmother's phone. It was the day before Valentines Day and maybe they were talking to someone that day. With the crime happening so swiftly at exactly the time the girls were standing at their location in broad daylight it's hard to believe it wasn't planned.

I think it's because it's the accomplice but they aren't saying it.

I suppose that's something to think about. The sketch dosen't seem to look like the man in the video at all. I think the first one could have; maybe if they would have deducted the pancake hat.

I've thought about this and noticed the video shows his hair combed straight down in such a manner you can see the comb-marks it caused in the thick hair. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he combed his hair differently because his slightly wavy / curly style is very recognizable. I think his hair is such that it can be combed in different ways.

I had thought about the possibility, that the BG online caused Libby to reset her phone perhaps for certain purposes (planning assault/murder and concealing tracks). It would be an incredible coincidence, if a reset was needed days before this well planned double murder, IMO.

...and most often, this explosive anger is genetic, and runs in the family, so either the father or the mother are angry themselves. But they don’t want to admit it, so the child’s anger is blamed on “being like the grandpa”. In short, the whole family is often totally dysfunctional.

It could be a wig. I think BG is a theatrical person and won’t rely on his hair or eye color.
